This is a strange place to stay. It is fancy styled, but fails as a complete holiday complex. The complex is big with a beautiful garden surrounded by banana plantations. It also has a swimming pool. It could be a nice quiet and cosy place to stay for a week or two, but you can only get breakfast, no lunch or dinner. That means you have to leave the promises at least for these meals. It is situated 170m over see level about 2 km from the shores of Puerto de la Cruz (where most of the restaurants are). This means a walk not without efforts to get back, partly on a narrow road with high walls on both sides and no light in the evening. If you have a rental car, there is a crowded parking lot on the promises, but the driver can not enjoy any alcohol together with the meals in town. Of course one could take a taxi, but for us the normal alternatives are by foot or by the rental car. The apartment was clean when we arrived and we got the towels changed every other day. Other cleaning was sparse; the bed was not remade apart from day ten, when the sheets were shifted. The apartments have flat screen TV with lots of German channels, but none Spanish, so we could not see the local weather forecast programs. What we certainly disliked was that we could not pay with card, so we had to do three ATM withdrawals. This was an inconvenience and it also cost us extra. On top of this we did not get a machine receipt, just a handwritten note that we had paid. I travel a lot but can not remember being forced to pay cash anywhere else the last 20 years. We will not stay at Apartamentos Villa Rosalva the next time in Puerto de la Cruz.

We stayed in Villa Rosalva 8 night and absolutely satisfied with quality and service. Ursula is so welcome and pleasant host that we felt here like at home. The Villa has very nice green territory with variety of flowers and bananas plantation nearby.

We stayed 4 nights at the end of January in a studio apartment. The room was lovely, loved the decor and the bed was comfy. We enjoyed making our own breakfasts and taking them to the sunny roof terrace, with views up to Mount Teide and down to the sea. We had a BBQ one night on the lovely patio - charcoal, cooking oil and seasonings were all provided. It was a beautiful setting, well off the main drag. An easy 20-25 minute walk into town or simple drive. About 5 mins drive to Lidl which was handy. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Most of the other guests were German, so was the lady owner but her English was fine. She was very helpful and welcoming. Wifi was €10 for our 4-night stay.

Beautiful property, off the main drag in the banana plantations. The property is just lovely, as others have described. Nice dipping pool, ocean views, hammocks, rooftop lunge area and our room had a nice quaint outdoor space. The room appeared super cute, thoughtfully decorated, modern bathroom, kitchenette. Took one star off because the bed was a cheap not so comfortable mattress, no a/c, sewage smell in bathroom (venting issue I think) and no ice for my Cuba libre. I would still go back based in this, because it was pretty affordable. But they lost another star for charging 25 euros for wifi (only hotel to charge this in our 6 months of travels) and they only accept cash (no credit cards). We also had a weird interaction about the payment. We were informed on our second day we needed to pay right then. We were told that we should have paid when we arrived, yet no one asked us for payment. And when we went to pay that's when we found out they didn't take credit cards. This was very inconvenient because our bank had limits on how much we can take out, so had go to the bank multiple times.

I have enjoyed a blissful fortnight chez Villa Rosalva. As a party of three we rented Casa Entfrente , a tastefully decorated typical canarian villa full of character and with incredible views. It was spotlessly clean, well facilitated and complete with hammock for those chilled evenings on the terraces. There is a shared heated pool on the main grounds around which breakfast can be served if you wish. The propietor Ursula was always on hand with helpful tips on restaurants and sights to see.We found it a good location 2 minutes by car uphill from the town centre/beach .If you are not planning on renting a car I believe airport collections can be arranged and from there the taxi service locally is very reasonable. It is a world above the basic holiday apartments that have sprung up around these coastal resorts giving one a feel for authentic canarian life and a great vantage point from which to view the surrounding landscapes.Highly recommended!!

Booked up over the phone and stayed at Villa Rosalva first week June 2014. Great welcome, showed around and... upgraded to the top villa (lucky us). Beautiful and clean, tidy, everything we needed. Facilities included nice kitchen with microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, very modern bathroom, barbecue for our own use open plan living space, lots of windows allowing the sun in all day. Swimming pool was excellent, always heated to 28 degrees C. Breakfast was available if we wanted, however we opted to had fresh bread delivered daily and we made our own breakfast. Great location for visiting all areas in the north of Tenerife, and Ursula, the owner, gave us some great tips for restaurants.. the best tip was La Bodeguita de Enfrente - we went there twice in the week we stayed! Perfect place for couples wanting a little peace and quiet, relaxation and the option to travel to local places for some sightseeing etc. Great views of the sea and the Tiede (when not covered in cloud!) Thank you to Ursula. We highly recommend Villa Rosalva. We will go back. N and K.

The owner of the property had received my confirmed booking via booking.com, but had deliberately ignored it so that no accommodation was available upon onsite arrival. She offered a completely different Apartment-Hotel, and I only realized after payment that this would have been cheaper than what I paid, according to their regular price list. From what she said and what I got to know later on during my stay in this alternative hotel, I was no exceptional case, but there were at least 2-3 similar other cases during my 10 day stay (and these were only the ones I knew about) and obviously, there have already been a number before my stay, according to what she said. She "regularly" transfers these cases (overbookings etc.) to the other hotel, and obviously considers this to be normal behavior according to terms & conditions from her side. This is why I would never book again and cannot recommend the property. The property itself left a really nice, but much smaller than imagined, impression - but what is it worth if you cannot stay there regardless of a confirmed reservation and find yourself in an impersonal larger apartment complex (6 floors) that you would have never booked? I had a confirmed reservation for a studio, as a single traveler (but the price was the same for 2 people according to their website), only accommodation. Breakfast was offered at additional cost, as well as WiFi for 50 Euro per week (!). My impression was that the majority of guests were couples. Details: I booked a studio more than 7 weeks before arrival via booking.com and received a reservation confirmation from this booking channel, supplying address, earliest time of arrival and the information that (according to request of the property) payment will be in cash onsite. I was obliged to 100% cancellation payment if done within last 3 weeks before arrival date. When I arrived onsite, the property owner (lady) told me there would be an issue. She cannot offer me an accommodation for my stay. She received my reservation, but due to her bad experiences in the past (no-show of guests) she feared that I might not show up, and as she did not receive additional information from me except the confirmed reservation (without me being informed about her fears!), she accepted another reservation for the studio. These guests already stayed there, so she could not give the studio to me instead, and all other studios were also booked. Same applied for all other accommodation (apartments), except on apartment for 2 nights (out of 10), but after these 2 nights I would definitely have to leave for another hotel. I preferred to stay in another hotel for the whole time, instead of staying for 2 nights and then having to move again. According to booking.com terms & conditions, she said she would only be obliged to supply me with a similar or better accommodation and would bring me to a hotel-apartment complex where she would usually bring guests in similar cases. She was well-known there, and I saw her there several times (with other guests) during my stay in this alternative hotel. This evoked the impression that I was everything but an exceptional case, and this procedure is rather normal than exception. I do not know if this is/was used to "optimize" the utilized capacity in the property or if there were additional/ other reasons (some of the other guests that were also brought to this alternative hotel during my stay were supplied with other reasons, according to what they said), but at least there was some reason for the assumption that this might be the case. I was absolutely shocked and depressed upon arrival, because I deliberately chose this accommodation due to its tranquility, small size and personal atmosphere, and the journey was really tiring. So the disappointment and bewilderment was huge - both about the fact of deliberate overbooking, as well as about the nonchalance and - in my view - impudence regarding the treatment of my objections by the owner. And about the fact that the alternative hotel was relatively nice, but rather an impersonal, larger apartment complex (6 floors) - exactly what I did not want to book. I couldn't control my feelings and was moved to tears during the whole day (and next ones) - a "great" stressful start of vacation and exactly the opposite of what I expected when booking (relaxation). I asked her why she did not contact me (she had email address and other personal data) to make sure if I will come - if she actually did have fear that I would not show up and given that this was the actual reason for overbooking. A mail would have reached me any given day, and would have solved the "issue" on her side. Basically, what she responded in a snippy way was that 'this could not be expected - to actively care about every single case' and 'they would not be a normal hotel, where you can book online and that's it; the guest would of course be expected to call or email them in advance, besides the reservation, e.g. to clarify delivery of keys etc.' I told her that my experience is that this is very unusual to be expected as a guest obligation if the accommodation is offered and booked via an official hotel booking website (in this case booking.com) and the reservation is confirmed - and that I travel a lot, including bookings both of hotels and studios/apartments. In case she expects this to REALLY confirm the confirmed reservation, she would have to add this explicitly to her accommodation description at booking.com (what she did not do) or not use this booking channel. She alleged that booking.com would not let her include this information and that she wanted to quit cooperation with this booking channel anyway (but she still offered it there when I booked). According to what she told me, the flaw for the issue was ascribed to me, to booking.com, to all the persons in the past who allegedly booked and did not show up/ did not pay - in other words to everyone else except her/ them. I had booked a rental car for the whole time in advance, due to the remote position of the accomodation. We drove to the alternative hotel she offered (Appartementos/Hotel Florasol) and they offered an apartment in 2nd floor. She claimed that the apartment would usually be more expensive, but she would negotiate with them that I "only" have to pay what I would have had to pay in her property, and I would additionally have breakfast included because they do not offer accommodation without breakfast. It was only after payment was made, that I got to know that according to this hotels regular price list, it would have been 50 Euro less than what I paid. She realized that I was completely disappointed and sad about the issue and the alternative, and made a short effort to find another alternative in a house in immediate neighborhood of her property. But this would only have been available the next day, would be a lot below what I booked, and as it was unclear what exactly would expect me there and that she could not recommend it unconditionally, I did not see another option that to accept the apartment in the alternative hotel. This Hotel (Appart. Florasol) is relatively quiet and with a beautiful small garden/pool landscape, but within the urban part of Puerto de la Cruz - with views on surrounding houses and hotels. And I wouldn't have needed a rental car for this place. This alternative hotel certainly is not bad. I would recommend it in case someone knows in advance what to expect and wants this: large and neat apartments, acceptable breakfast, friendly and helpful staff - but it was absolutely not what I wanted for this vacation. If I would have liked to book an apartment in a somewhat larger complex, I would have done so but would have had the choice which one and where. Booking a studio in a small private villa in the banana plantations was a deliberate choice - THIS is what I wanted; and no adequate alternative to this was offered. From my point of view, you should not treat your guests like that. I will certainly not be a guest in this property in future, and cannot recommend it due to these experiences - especially because I did not have the impression that this was an exceptional case. There are certainly a lot of parties offering good accommodation on Teneriffa, who are glad about each guest and keen to attract and hold him/her - here this apparently was not the case. And even if the accommodation seems to be neat and with a personal touch, this calculated behavior heavily devaluates my opinion and evaluation.

Found this super suite through owners direct. It was our first visit to Tenerife and we were really unknown as to the best location and type of accommodation. Booking and communication with Ursula, the lovely owner, was efficient and effective which boosted my confidence!. Ursula provided driving directions from the airport and we found the villa, situated above the town of Puerto de la Cruz in a banana plantation, very easily. There are a number of different types of accommodation at Villa Rosalva although the overall feel is of a small, cozy and private holiday site. Our suite was in the old part of the villa, beautifully decorated and with lovely furnishings and antiques. It was completely lovely, the bathroom is super and the kitchen just well enough equipped for a bit of ad hoc holiday catering. Ursula delivers fresh bread daily if you wish and this was useful for putting together lunchtime sandwiches during our exploration of the island. Plenty of free bananas available as well! There is a lovely swimming pool and a very friendly dog who loves you to help him play with a succession of squeaky toys secreted about the beautiful gardens. The gardens provide fabulous views of snow capped Mt Teide in one direction and the sea in another. We walked down into the town most evenings which took around twenty minutes (we're pretty fit and fast walkers!) and a taxi back again (less fit after a couple of beers!) was around €5. I would definitely recommend any of the accommodation at Villa Rosalva for a friendly and relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings.

Beautiful hotel on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz. It is somewhat ticky to find, and you need to have a car, but once there, we were really glad we had booked it. Villa Rosalva lies in the middle of a banan plantation and you have a magnificent view over the city and the top of the volcano. It is quiet since it is outside the city itself. Excellent breakfast buffet if you want (11euros), or make your own breakfast in the room. Very nice German management. Perfect location for people who want to stay in a quiet and classy surrounding, but who are looking more for the genuine and not the 5-star luxuary.
