Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Alua Tenerife garners praise for its stylish atmosphere and modern, spacious rooms, with the cleanliness and efficient housekeeping often highlighted by travelers. While the hotel's prime location near the beach and attractions is lauded, the value perception suffers due to unexpected additional fees for amenities like gym access.
Although the service receives mixed reviews, with some concerns over inconsistency and rudeness, amenities like the indoor pool remain popular, despite mixed feedback on food variety and quality. Guests occasionally mention maintenance issues and noise in rooms.

Detailed Reviews
We had two separate stays here. First one without any worries and the second under a lockdown because of Covid-19. The pluses were, it is a large spacious hotel with a 20 minute walk to town and a local beach 10 minutes away, we had "all inclusive" with various bars situated within the hotel. Breakfast, lunch and evening dinner were good (all buffet style) with plenty of choice. Staff were efficient and friendly. The downside and I have experienced this before at other establishments, the beds and bedding were not good. Bed mattresses were uncomfortable and the pillows lacked any proper filling. The rooms were kept clean and we could receive English channels, which on our lockdown stay was priceless. We were made to pay for wifi in our rooms (although rules were relaxed on our 2nd stay, we did receive free wifi in the room), poolside the wifi is free anyway and to pay for a room safe. Our first stay room overlooked private apartments and with curtains drawn felt very exposed, no net curtain or blind, so we had to virtually keep curtains drawn. Both our rooms had a balcony. On our latter stay the hotel began to shut down, sun beds removed from the pool, then tables and chairs taken away to discourage outside socialising which just pushed the dimishing guests inside. The whole process was to drive you back to your room. Of course that isn't the fault of the hotel management they were obeying governmental orders.
Overall I was happy with our normal stay and will not judge it on its enforced rules. I do feel sorry for the staff who had to portray a happy demeanour while knowing, as from this coming Tuesday, their jobs disappear.

We had an excellent holiday at the Gran Turquesa. I am sure you will enjoy yours but there are a few things you should know.
There is a huge variety of food on offer but if you want a high quality meal cooked to order then you will need to find a local restaurant. I usually found something I liked but to be honest it got a bit tedious towards the end of our week long stay. The canarian potatoes are always a favourite with me and there plenty of green and red mojo to go with it. The was a huge variety of bread all of which was wonderful.
The turquesa is a very large hotel. Food is not allowed out of the restaurant so you might find yourself with a long walk just to get a cup of coffee. Renting a kettle is 2 euros a day. I tried 3 different brands of bottled water but I couldnt find one that didn’t taste awful when boiled. Later I discovered that the problem was due to staff cleaning out the kettle with cleaning fluid.
There are a few small flights of steps in the hotel which cannot be avoided but overall I think those with limited mobility will have no difficulty.
There is a very limited number of electrical sockets in the rooms which makes life difficult if you want to boil a kettle or charge up your devices. Top tip. Bring at least one euro adapter and a multi gang socket. Cpap users can borrow an extension cable from reception for no charge other than a deposit.
Beware of the ATMs in the hotel!
The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room on the corner with a sea view. The sea is about 100 meters away down a slope.

Myself and my partner stayed here for 10 days all inclusive. The food was amazing and i could not fault it.So much choice with fresh salads everyday. The choice of drinks was OK as well a fair selection of spirits, and one type of lager available from 11am-11pm.
We stayed in what appeared to be a newer build as there are rooms on both sides of the pool and again couldn't fault it. Our room was beautiful, all with balconys, beds made everyday and cleaned, with sheets and towels changed upon request. There are staff on hand 24 hours a day to help with any queries or problems you have.
The sunbed issue we have had on previous holidays was non existent here, you could get up at 8am-9am for breakfast and still be able to find one.
A few things as constructive criticism but wouldn't stop me staying again.
The entertainment was a bit boring. The staff did try and a few nights we joined in when it was quiz night and bingo, but other than that it wasn't great. There was a few singers which sang mostly Spanish songs.
Feel if the entertainment was a bit more exciting it would have been a 5*
Also there is a lot more Spanish than English at this hotel which is not a problem in itself but when we where there for entertainment they catered to the majority and sometimes we had no clue what was going on lol.
All this being said I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, there are a number of free buses and coaches that will take you to places further out in the south side if u wish. Excursions can be booked right outside the hotel in a shop where u can also hire cars if u wish and taxis are a reasonable price we felt.
The beach is a 5-10 min walk away and there is a few bars/restaurants that serve very nice food again for a reasonable price.. also mini supermarket round the corner and larger one slight further away big within walking distance.
All in all, a lovely hotel, lovely staff and a lovely break.🙂

We are a family of four with 2 children, so it is often hard for us to find suitable vacation places. This hotel ticks all the boxes, and the price for our package holiday was really low. The apartment we had within the hotel complex was very spacious with one separate bedroom, so not only could the kids sleep well but even the parents :-)
There was a separate kids pool with only 45cm depth, which was perfect for extensive and safe pool fun time! :-) This was comforting, as the waves in the sea have rocks in them, so the beach was not really for swimming for the kids. Otherwise, the beach with the black sand and walking distance from the hotel, was great. It seemed that around March with 25 Celsius temperature on average is the perfect time to come here. The food in the hotel restaurant (we had full board) was decent, especially given the amount of guests there were. For every lunch and dinner there was a different kind of fresh fish on offer, which was impressive. We weren't impressed by the surrounding area (many hotels, but no visible town planning, and quite a few ruins/empty lots) but that didn't matter much to us, as we are not so active given the age of our kids. As a family, we can whole-heartedly recommend this hotel especially given the low price we paid.

The hotel is very clean, Staff are very friendly. The food was perfectly acceptable with good variety of choice for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Nice walk into the town centre by the coast in about 15 minutes. The rooms probably could do with a refurbishment but were kept spotless by the housekeeping staff. Nightly entertainment. Some very cheap but lovely cafe/bars directly across the road from the hotel. Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely clean rooms, very comfortable beds and pillows. Safe you can use free of charge.
Had a lovely week at this hotel came hime yesterday and missing it already. Went with my sister we shared a room and my daughter and her boyfriend who had their own room, all of us over 18 years. The hotel is beautiful and modern. The food was really good always something to eat and I like the show cooking as you know its fresh. Breakfast was a very good selection too. Every single member of staff was friendly and polite. Only issue I can say is the snack bar is very limited, cheese, ham, bread olives. Not chips, burgers or hotdogs etc you usually get from a snack bar. The dri k were good very strong with the measures lol but not complaining 😉. Couldn't really work our aircon out properly sometimes worked sometimes didn't but that wasn't the hotel at fault we just disnt bother to say anything l. My daughter said her room was really good aircon.
The maids were wonderful and worked extremely hard to ensure rooms were cleaned daily, beds made and linen and towels changed when needed. Having a fridge in room was really good too. 1 thing that bothered me was no bottles water or water tank available only their drinking water although it was nice and cold I don't think it always agreed with me you had to pay for a glass bottle of water €1 if A/I so not a big deal. Pool bar don't open till 11 which is a bit annoying when sitting around pool as we always sat up on the top balcony area, but the bar is open so it's OK if you don't mind walking back and forth. Over all we had an amazing time and I would definitely recommend this hotel. The area is quiet with a few shops and restaurants, beach a few minutes walk. You can get a taxi to the main square area for under €5 or walk it in about 15-20 minutes which we dis a few times. The reception staff are very friendly and of we needed a taxi they would order 1 for us. All the staff here should be really proud of the work they do to keep this hotel friendly and clean environment .

Well i booked this hotel going on the reviews thought I would give it a go , so I booked it no problem , when I got to Tenerife airport me and other passengers had to wait 1 1/2 hours for our transfer as we were waiting for other planes to land I eventually got to the hotel at 12.30 at night hotel looked lovely I went to reception after interrupting the staff on there phones to check me in , he was very blunt asking me for my name , he gave me 2 cards and said that was it i had to ask what floor my room was on and if there was any food as it had been a long day , he said restaurant not telling me where it was so I cut my losses and went to my room , the room was beautiful very clean and tidy , the next day I noticed a plug socket hanging of the wall outside the bathroom , a bar across the shower came out of the wall holding the glass up and the air we attached to the wall outside fell of the wall bit room was lovely. I went down for breakfast the staff were lovely in the restaurant breakfast was great a nice selection, I then went to the pool it was ok you couldn’t smoke anywhere round it I got in the pool I hit my foot of the ground the bottom of the pool is literally falling to pieces there are sharp pieces of the floor in the pool , and it wasn’t cleaned. I had to wait until 11 to get a drink from anywhere I got a coke from the pool bar which was definitely watered down then a slush which barely had any syrup in then the snacks game which was left over from the breakfast so cheese toasties more of Less , at 3 that’s when the other food came out which everyday was burgers or hotdogs with hard rolls so leftover and no selection , the night time entertainment is great if your Spanish other then that I never watched it as don’t know Spanish , I ran out of water and was told it was one bottle of water per stay I was there 2 weeks and they didn’t supply milk for the bedroom coffee of tea. Eventually on my last day my transfer was at 17.40 I got told that after 12 I was not aloud any food or drinks as the all inclusive stopped at 12 so I had to pay for food and drinks which was bad so if someone left later they wouldn’t get fed either. So overall I wouldn’t stay again most of the reception staff and other staff were very Marcy and barely smiled. Will definitely not return

Booked this hotel for the spa. We were having a 2 day weekend away and by the time we checked in after 2.00pm on Saturday the spa was closing at 3.00pm, and not opening again until Monday morning. The hotel description doesn't say anything about the spa being a separate business and not open at weekend. So they promote the indoor pool but it's not possible to use at weekend. Absolutely disgraceful misleading information. Staff are not friendly, bordering on rude. I went to reception to ask about the evening entertainment and was told to look in the lift. The entertainment is a joke. Saturday evening was a guy playing songs from a mixing desk. No patter or even attempting to talk to his audience, could have just put spotify on. Sunday was cinema. Basically they set up a screen and projector and played an episode from a Netflix series, not even a film. Wifi has to be paid for. Come on, in this day and age, it should be free to paying guests in a 4* (ha ha) hotel. The local bars provide it for free why should I pay in a hotel? There was a mini fridge in the room but no glasses, so we had to smuggle some out of the breakfast room to enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony. Sea view balcony is only when you're standing up. The parapet is too high so when you're seated there is no view. Don't use the vending machine in the lobby. Outrageous prices, €1.70 for a small bottle of water. Use the mini-market just across the road. Breakfast is just OK, for me it's what I'd expect from a 3* hotel. There are 3 coffee machines, the one nearest to us was malfunctioning so it was a trek across a big dining room for a refill. Orange juice isn't juice, some kind of watery mixed thing. Bed was too firm for my liking (and I like it on the firm side), bathroom is gloomy and poorly ventilated. In conclusion there's much better value for money than this place, we won't be back

Dear Mr. Chris, we deeply regret your dissatisfaction with the Hotel and we thank you for sending us your personal comment , so we can respond to your criticism that we consider constructive, although we would have preferred to be able to speak it in person and not after departure. On the Booking page you could and can see the hours of our wellness center, where it is specified that the indoor pool closes on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., we regret that you have not read it, we also send you now all via email so you can check that we do not have any misleading advertising as you have wanted to share with the rest of Tripadvisor users. In this new normal it is forbidden to leave reusable glasses in the rooms, as there were before, because at each exit we disinfect with an air nebulizer, we also have no problem in leaving clean glasses from the bar or restaurant, glasses or whatever our guests need and be there. our reach, it is always a pleasure for us to satisfy the needs of those who visit us, a pity that you have not contacted the customer service department or that you did not want to convey your discontent while you were staying, we would have helped you feel better. At the hotel we have a mini-market, we regret that you have not made use of it. Regarding breakfast, if customers want natural orange juice, they only have to request it from the maitre d 'or head of the room, we are very sorry that you have not requested this service. The mattresses are all new, perhaps that is why you have noticed them firm, but we also have options for clients who prefer a softer mattress, again a pity that you did not communicate this. Our conclusion: unfortunately, our hotel has had a bad image for not having shared with us your perceptions and personal needs, we would have gladly helped you and we would have shown you that Turquesa Playa is not only a 4-star hotel but a great Hotel where he would have liked to repeat. We apologize for everything that happened, and we send you an email with the details so that you can verify our real publications and verify that there is no misleading information. We hope to see you again and we are sure that you will fully enjoy our services and facilities as you deserve. Remember please to contact us before your stay to send us your special requests, its a pleasure for us to help you Kind regards

Overall hotel was nice. But would not recommend getting all inclusive as food isn’t great quality and you can only get the cheaper drinks for free. Cocktails are included but come out a machine and aren’t great. Some staff were nice but others weren’t very helpful. We asked for our room to be changed to double bed instead of 2 single beds and for the air con to be fixed as it wouldn’t work at night. No one came up as they said they would to help. Pool and outdoor area was great. Room was okay and our balcony was nice and big.

On entering the Hotel it looks very luxurious there was a great glass staircase in the reception area, we arrived in the evening about 9.30 and by the time we checked in, the restaurant had closed, the receptionist told us that she had placed us in a room with a view to the swimming pool, however when we got to the room, the noise was horrendous, what they didn't mention was that they had a D.J. playing very loud music around the swimming pool area, we went downstairs to complain and see whether they could move us to a quiet room, however they didn't have any other room ready that night and they assured me that they would swap our room the next day at lunchtime, which they did, (they should have told us that the D.J. only play the music around the pool once a week, if we had known that we could have put up with it for 1 night) however the next day they moved us to a quiet room facing the side street, we were happy with the room, it was beautiful, clean with a lovely bathroom, the bed was very big and comfortable, the pillows were very luxurious, there was also a safe and a kettle with tea/coffee supplied, however they wouldn't supply any milk? we had a fridge in the room so we bought fresh milk and kept it in the room.
Breakfast was amazing you couldn't fault it, with all the usual cooked breakfast items, including someone frying the eggs in front of you, as well as making fresh drop scones, they also had Churros every day, and a good selection of bread, yogurts, and every type of milk i.e. Lactose Free, full fat, semi and Skimmed milk, plus cereals, fresh fruit and fruit juices.
The swimming pool was lovely and was kept very clean at all times, they had plenty of sunbeds and free towels were supplied, you paid a deposit of 10Euros per towel which you got back on your last day when you returned the towels.
The only thing we've to complain about is the fact that they didn't informed us that the Hotel supplied a daily free bus going to Puerto de La Cruz City Centre, and as the Hotel is a bit on the outskirts, we either walked or got a taxi to and from the City Centre, they should have a notice in Reception to let people know about the free daily Bus, but other than that we had a fantastic time in this beautiful Hotel and can highly recommend it.
