Hotel Tigaiga is a very nice hotel located a little above the old town of Puerto in the park-lined Taoro district. Although the hotel was built in the late 1950s, the premises are very well maintained, not too modern and soulless like many other hotels in the usual hotel groups. That was very much in line with us. The location is quiet and you can relax wonderfully. The subtropical garden is great and very well maintained, like everything in the hotel.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped. We had a room with partial sea views and views of the former Grandhotel Taoro, which has been a major construction site for some time as it is being gutted and is said to be reopening soon. However, the construction site was not a significant impairment for us. We were also informed about this beforehand by our tour operator.
We would particularly like to emphasize the quality of the service staff, who were extremely nice and accommodating no matter what function (reception, room service, breakfast and dinner service, etc.). The house exudes a satisfaction that also affects the guests.
The breakfast was excellent and varied - only the offer of the fruits (taste) could be a little better, as these would have to be regionally available in the best quality. We dined several times at the hotel (we didn't have half board) and were always very satisfied with the quality of the dishes.
The hotel offers parking at the daily rate of €7. We strongly recommend booking a hotel parking space as it is very difficult to park despite a free parking area not far from the hotel (which is unfortunately always full). On arrival we had to search for 30 minutes, and that was very stressful after the long flight.
The guests are international, predominantly German-speaking.
A walkway over stairs through a beautiful park leads directly to the old town of Puerto. Back you can take a taxi. That costs about € 6.
We liked the location away from the hustle and bustle in Puerto very much and we will definitely come back.

The rooms are quiet, simple, spacious and always clean, they offer magnificent views of Puerto de la Cruz and the omnipresent clouds give a pleasant and gentle atmosphere. The pool overlooks the city and the spaces around are very nice, the mattresses and towels provided are just as nice, at the end of August we have enough deckchairs but the Pension is not full... A little soft music, not too loud would be welcome as in Italy: local in the morning, international l afternoon. The park is beautiful! Breakfast and dinner are qualitative and there is choice, the staff is smiling, helpful and efficient. The croissants are a bit dry and there are no chocolate breads but the fruits are very good! A real orange juice would be the best! Bravo for the choice of fruit juice and lemon water! To be perfect, you should not add 7th per day for parking and 3rd per day for a fridge and the water at the table should be free as in any restaurant... Even if all this is clearly announced on their site, it is to be taken into account but it is above all a shame! It lacks enough tea or coffee in the room, the chairs of the balcony could be replaced by deckchairs. French-language television channels are missing because there is only one, unlike English and German channels. When are hotels equipped with Netflix as in many Airbnb? An idea to submit! Free water next to the dispenser is a great idea! We recommend this Inn and if we were to return, we would take it without hesitation! We are there for a few more days, we are there!

We booked this hotel based on the reviews here on TA and on Holidaycheck, we had high expectations which were certainly more than fulfilled.
The location for us was perfect, a smallish hotel in meticulously maintained grounds, above PDLC in a lovely quiet neighbourhood, yet just 15 (ish) minutes on foot to reach the restaurants in town. We particularly enjoyed the lovely pool and the fact that you could always get a sunbed, you even got your lounger mattress and towels brought to you, thank you.
Staff are all most professional, helpful and polite throughout, having travelled worldwide and staying in many hotels from 2 to 5 stars, we feel they are right at the top of their game.
The hotel is kept immaculately clean, inside and out and our Teide view room was comfortable with plenty of storage facilities for clothes and cases.
We had asked for a kettle and minifridge before arrival and it was ready in the room and when I told the staff the mattress was a bit firm for me, a softer topper was immediately arranged and I slept very comfortably.
The varied breakfast buffet is served from 7-10 am and seating is available inside and out, the only thing we would have preferred was a glass of fresh orange juice but it certainly did not lessen our lovely experience staying here.
Thank you for having us, it was an absolute pleasure and should we happen to return to Tenerife, we'd definitely be staying at Hotel Tigaiga.

Pension rather decent. A kind, attentive and always smiling staff. Breakfast was delicious with a wide choice.
Our room overlooked works and therefore quite noisy (from 6am except Sunday... phew!) but it was very well equipped and functional.
If you have a car, plan a budget of 7€/day for parking because it is almost impossible to park around.
We are a couple in our forties and although we love the quiet, the clientele was quite old and no children.
You have to take the car every day if you want to do a few Things to do (paid parking at the Burger King great location in Puerto de la Cruz)

This is a wonderful hotel – not the most expensive, nor is it one with the most facilities, but if you’re looking for a relaxing experience away from the multinational chains and their impersonal service, look no further. Hotel Tigaiga is family run, and the staff act as if they are part of that family: friendly, helpful and professional, they always appear to have time for you and for answering any questions. As my birthday occurred while we were here, they even gave me card and a beautifully wrapped present! Everyone we dealt with from reception, to cleaning, to waiters and management all seemed to be pulling in the same direction: to please the customer not just their bosses. The building itself is nothing special (though thankfully low-rise: only 3 stories) but it’s well designed and decorated inside, and set in its own gorgeous, extensive tropical gardens. Opposite the hotel is a small park with a network of trails that were well used when we were there by dog walkers and runners prepping for the upcoming Santa Cruz marathon. Despite giving the sensation that you’re miles away from the hustle and bustle of the town visible below, the walk down is quite short (although it feels far longer on the way back after a couple of cervezas!). Breakfasts are excellent (a huge array of breads, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, meats, cheeses as well as the option of cooked) and they were happy to offer me oat milk for my coffee as an alternative to the usual long life dairy milk. They’re very good on little touches that remind you they’re independent, such as the little decorative individual flower blooms dotted around the bathroom, and the huge bunch of bananas fresh off the tree hanging outside reception of you to help yourself. We had dinner twice at the waiter service restaurant (there’s a separate buffet for those on half board) and we both agreed that the food was better than any of the places we ate at in town.
If there is one criticism, it is that the restaurant and its accompanying bar service were clearly understaffed; trying to attract anyone’s attention to get a table or to order a drink – or even to ask for la quenta - was often greeted with a look of panic, or a look away to avoid eye contact. The separate bar behind reception wasn’t staffed at all – drinks had to be brought up from the restaurant bar which must have been even more panicky for the staff down there! However, if you prefer to have your drinks delivered pronto, Alberto’s Bar and Terraza Taoro are both a hop and a skip away and both have great views of the town and the setting sun. We left after 5 days wishing we’d booked for longer – we’ll definitely be back!

On our first visit to Puerto De la Cruz we were lucky to choose Hotel Tigaiga for our holiday. This is a smallish family run hotel, on the hillside above Puerto De la Cruz with lovely gardens and pool area, with views of the city and the sea.
We thought the hotel was exceptional because we felt that the owners and all the staff were genuinely interested in their guests and in promoting their hotel by doing things right, rather than just by marketing. We do not usually consider visiting the same hotel twice but we will make an exception for this hotel.
We stayed bed and breakfast and visited the a la carte restaurant in the hotel on two occasions. On all the other days we walked down to the city for dinner and back up the hill afterwards.
The range of choice and the quality of the breakfast in the hotel were excellent, I particularly liked the omelette which was cooked on request by the Chef. Sitting outside in the sunshine for breakfast was just what we needed and seeing the family members talking to guests and making sure everything was right during breakfast was an example of why we thought this hotel provided an exceptional experience.
The staff at the pool were really helpful, providing mattresses, pool towels and a parasol when you arrived at the pool and keeping everything looking lovely.
The staff that cleaned the rooms were really friendly and pleasant and we particularly liked the option to hang an eco day notice on your door if you didn’t want you room to be made up every day.
The a la carte restaurant provided high quality dishes at a reasonable cost and we enjoyed our visits there.
On one day a huge bunch of bananas was hung outside reception with a knife for guests to help themselves and it lasted about 3 days.
The walk from the hotel to the city is quite strenuous, my Garmin watch said the climb back up to the hotel was 350m but we enjoyed the challenge.
On our last day we were waiting at the front of the hotel for our transfer pickup and one of the family members came to chat to us and ask how we had enjoyed our stay, why did we choose Hotel Tigaiga above all the other hotels and about our journey home, another example of why we felt this hotel was exceptional in comparison to some of the bigger corporate hotels that we have visited.
There was only one slight negative during our stay which was the poor wifi signal in our room which we have suggested in our feedback to the hotel as an area for improvement. The wifi was very good around the hotel and by the pool, however.
We would recommend this exceptional hotel to anyone who likes a quiet relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings.

The family-run hotel impresses with its high quality of service. The owners' grandparents come from Germany, and three grandchildren currently run the hotel. The building dates back to 1959, but has been very well renovated. The half-board is highly recommended, as there is always a choice between the courses and an extensive buffet is also offered. Breakfast offers everything you want, even sparkling wine on Sundays. The garden is fantastically laid out, the swimming pool area offers a wonderful view of the city and the bay. The staff mostly speak German (of varying quality) and are very friendly and helpful. There is obviously a very good working atmosphere, which the guests also feel.
At the moment, the rooms on the Teide side are highly recommended, as there is a construction site on the other side 2-300m away, but the noise is limited.
The walk into town takes about 20 minutes and is quite steep and goes partly through the Maipais. A taxi is recommended for the way back (5-6 €).
The only negative comment is the rather hard beds, but that is a matter of taste.
Highly recommended!

The hotel is in a very beautiful location right next to Taoro Park, with a great view of Puerto de la Cruz. The small, cozy hotel complex from the 1960s looks very well maintained, the rooms are spacious and meet current standards. There are rooms with a view of the park, or with a view of the hotel's own garden and the Teide. In our opinion, the view of the garden is currently preferable, as the old casino and a neighboring hotel are being completely gutted and construction noise is to be expected. With the windows closed, there is no noise pollution, but if you want to sit on the balcony, you cannot completely avoid the sound of construction work.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous to us. Only in the breakfast restaurant did you sometimes feel like you were disturbing us when several waiters were deep in conversation with each other.

We only booked breakfast so that we could explore the surrounding restaurants and eat on the go. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, we particularly liked the selection of breads and rolls. Cold cuts, cheese and hot dishes were always fresh, but the scrambled eggs, beans and pancakes were unfortunately often a bit cold. All in all, there was something for everyone, even if there was a lack of variety over the days.

We really liked the pool and garden area, a paradise for relaxing.

Conclusion: The Hotel Tigaiga is also a highly recommended hotel for us in Puerto de la Cruz. However, in a general hotel comparison, it is rather overrated.

In this hotel, nothing artificial, everything is beautiful and good, like the reception hall which has remained simple but pretty.
we will especially highlight the helpfulness and efficiency of the staff who are always attentive to us
The cleanliness is such that you could eat off the floor
The catering was a nice change from the rest of the hotels on the island. We are served at the table, there is a menu and we can choose between two starter dishes, main course and two desserts, and everything is super good, which is extremely surprising when we have tasted other hotels where blandness reigns. in master
That said, we are on German time.
Our friends Germain understood the quality of the hotel and they are coming back. They are mainly seniors and the meal starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. We are therefore not on Spanish timetable.
The swimming pool is very pleasant, it still has impeccable service.
The garden, super well maintained, is an oasis of greenery
Indeed, there is a car park where you can park for free about fifty meters from the hotel but there is plenty of room. The hotel offers parking for a small fee of seven euros per day which is very nice.
Regardless, our stay was fantastic and we will happily return.

First of all, I have to highlight the cleanliness of the hotel. As soon as we entered the lobby, we were greeted by friendly staff and a lovely setting. The rooms were always well-kept and carefully cleaned. The common areas, such as the hallways and the restaurant, also exuded a remarkable cleanliness.

Another reason why I highly recommend this hotel is the exceptional staff. From the moment we arrived until I left, I felt warmly welcomed by every member of staff. The staff was extremely helpful and always tried to fulfill my wishes. Whether it was calling a taxi or recommending a wine.

Now for the dining experience: The food at the hotel was simply delicious! The selection of dishes changed every night. The quality of the food exceeded my expectations. Fresh ingredients and careful preparation were clearly noticeable. The breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options (both hot and cold) that delighted me every morning. In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that my stay at Hotel Tigaiga was a real pleasure. The cleanliness, the lovely staff and the excellent food made my holiday an unforgettable experience. I can only warmly recommend this hotel and look forward to spending time there again soon
