The Be Live Experience Orotava garners praise for its prime location, a stone's throw from beaches and local attractions, which makes it an ideal spot for guests eager to explore. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and space, some visitors are turned off by the dated styling and noise issues. Although the hotel's amenities are generally appreciated, the small pool and limited entertainment options have been points of contention.
Guests have also voiced concerns about the value proposition, pointing to unexpected costs and lack of quality in food and facilities. Opinions on service vary, with staff friendliness being noted alongside instances of neglect. Despite the clean environment and occasional sea views, the atmosphere is marred by noise from nearby bars and an aging aesthetic.

Detailed Reviews
A late booking during the pandemic. The hotel was very well situated. However there were very few staff. The reception staff were unfriendly. The restaurant had huge queues sometimes going outside and up the stairs to the rooms with holidaymakers having food served by kitchen staff. Food was only tepid.
Sunbeds were being reserved at 8am although the information stated any towels on beds before 10am when the pool opened would be removed. This was not instigated so I set my alarm for 8am to get one of the few sunbeds and parasols.
We paid extra for All Inclusive Plus. Our room had a lovely seaview. There were no bathrobes, slippers, coffee and tea making facilities as promised. The menu of included international drinks we had to ask for most of the time. We did get our bathrobes and coffee and tea making facilities almost immediately after requesting
The hotel itself was very clean and the room was cleaned daily
However the rule of not entering the hotel in wet swimsuits and swimming trunks went out of the window.
I saw at least two people sitting on the settees by the lobby bar with just swimming attire on.
Entertainment was minimal understood because of the current situation
Sunbeds were scrubbed every morning and the pool area. Should a holidaymaker vacate a sunbed it was thoroughly cleaned for the next people.
Hand sanitisers were located in the Restaurant, Lobby and Pool Bar
Face masks had to be worn upon entering the hotel and at the restaurants and bars unless you were eating and drinking.
Sunbeds were socially distanced so masks were not compulsory
Unfortunately this was a late 70th birthday celebration somewhat disappointing.
I am sure once Hotels are spot on with the new normal hopefully these teething issues will improve.

This hotel has excellent staff. They are pleasant, friendly and cheerful.
Rooms are fine, though bathrooms are becoming a little dated. Soap and shampoo was not replenished during my two week stay and there are no tea-making facilities in the rooms. Beds are very comfortable.
The pool is small, not heated and therefore too cold to enjoy in December/January.
Food is average. Breakfasts would be improved if better quality cheese and ham were provided with more cut fresh, rather than tinned fruit. Proper fresh orange juice would also be nice.
Dinners were usually ok but the Christmas/New Years Eve Gala dinners were of much better quality and offering more choice. In a four star hotel this should be the more regular standard.
I was surprised that on a half-board tariff I had to pay for water at dinner and that tea and coffee were unavailable.
The location of the hotel is excellent with all the attractions: beach, harbour and old town, within easy walking distance. There is also a supermarket across the road from the hotel.

The Orotava, is a lovely typical Spanish hotel, situated in an amazing location, being less than 5 minutes from the sea front, bars, restaurants and it’s many shops.
Yes, I have stayed in more upmarket 4 star hotels, but have paid considerably more for the privilege and the Orotava offers very good value for money.
We had 3 rooms on floor 9, all of which had side views to the left of the ocean and to the right mount Teidi. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and serviced daily. Our only problem being that the air con didn’t appear to be adequate.
Outside, there is a small pool ( which we knew about when booking), sun beds to one side and a separate grassed area, also with beds. Due to the pool doors not opening until 10am, there was never a problem ‘saving’ beds. There is a pool bar, which closed when the indoor bar opens.
The hotel, has one buffet restaurant ( no al a carte), which was advertised in the hotel description, but not to worry. The restaurant, also extended to tables outside which was nice.
The restaurant, served an array of hot and cold dishes for breakfast, which I could not fault. For lunch and dinner, we were offered many salad dishes, meats, fish and a variety of dishes from different countries, which we enjoyed trying, fresh fruit, and desserts. There was sometimes a delay on the show cooking grill, due to the chef, refilling other dishes.
2 of our rooms throughout our stay, had maintenance issues, which were seen to
Immediately.
Staying on an all inclusive basis, our drinks were included. Being a wine drinker,I found the wine in the restaurant more than palatable, although in the bars, not to my liking at all. Other drinks however were fine.
We went to the hotel as a family. Both of us being in our 60’s, my daughter and her husband and 2 teenage grandsons. As a family hotel, we found very little entertainment for teenagers, though ours were quite happy to fish off the beach and on occasions visit the sea front lido, with its many pools and lake which was exceptional value for money, being 5.5 euros per person for the day.
For your convenience, there’s a large supermarket across the road, with a noodle bar, Burger King and other shops.
What makes this hotel, is the friendly, helpful staff, who work very hard.
I would recommend this hotel for older couples, families with young children, and those wanting a quieter holiday scene.Families with teenagers who want a more lively scene however may want to consider elsewhere.
Would I return?, most definitely as would the rest of my party.
Thank you Orotava for a lovely holiday.

We visited this hotel early March and was looking forward to a nice winter break. We arrived in the afternoon and was greeted by friendly staff. The bedroom was reasonably clean and towels were changed daily.
My main concern was the restaurant. We expected hand sanitation at least near to the restaurant door but there was none which we thought was totally unacceptable due to the current situation. The coronavirus was just beginning to appear so hygiene should have been a priority. Numerous plates were chipped and the food was always cool or cold. The menu never varied during our duration there so we ate out on some occasions making this an expensive holiday as we had gone all inclusive.
Puerto De La Cruz is a lovely resort and we shall be going again but would not stay at the Orotava.
We've been to Be Live Experience hotels in the past and they have been excellent, but on this occasion we feel we have been badly let down.

Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your impressions regarding our beautiful four-star hotel. First and foremost, we would like to let you know that we regret that we were unable to meet all of your expectations on this occasion. Only in case of not having soap, the WHO recommends the use of hydroalcoholic solutions that contain between 60 and 70% alcohol. In this situation, the gestures for cleaning hands are similar to those used in washing with soap and water. Our staff are highly qualified, trained and attentive individuals that care deeply about the well-being of our guests and we are known to deliver exceptional levels of customer service. However, we lament if this is not the impression you received and we will look into your area of concern. The safety and hygiene for us is very important, obviously we have given the correct indications to our staff, the gloves are irrelevant if they are not changed to attend to each client, which is absurd, the hygiene gel is not valid if one do not clean correctly their hands with water and soap (regulary), it is unfortunate that we have to teach such basic things. Washing hands (with soap and water) is the most recommended measure by the World Health Organization (WHO) before the outbreak of the new coronavirus. Experts assure that proper hygiene, especially that of our hands, is the key to preventing the spread of Covid-19. The hands, says the WHO, are the main route of infection, because we can touch our airways and eyes without realizing it. However, their proper hygiene may differ from the methods we are used to, especially in times of pandemic. To start, you must remove your rings, bracelets and watch, as they can accumulate microorganisms. Then, wet your hands with water, add plenty of soap and carry out a series of movements as indicated by the World Health Organization (WHO): In washing, in addition to rubbing the palms, the folds, the external face, the thumbs and the tips of the fingers must also be taken into account. Then rinse and dry preferably with a disposable paper towel. The towel will also serve to turn off the tap before throwing it away. The wash should last at least 30 seconds and there are several tricks on the internet to achieve this. Among them stands out singing the choruses of famous songs to make the process more entertaining. We hope you may learn something new about! Sincerely, Jordi Simó Hotel Manager

The staff at the hotel worked extremely hard to provide a good holiday atmosphere in very difficult circumstances. There is a mixture of nationalities, predominately English and Spanish. Restaurant (face mask compulsory) is very clean and offers a wide range of food Only a short walk from the centre of PDLC and the beach. If you are active walk along the front for two miles, there is a curved black sand beach where a lot of locals etc run walk along the beach with crashing waves.
Rooms are a good size, cleaned properly, plenty of towels etc. Fridge in the room.
The pool is quite small but not crowded when I was there. Snack bar (if you need more than 3 meals a day) does chips, toasted sandwiches etc.

This is a predominantly Spanish hotel which offers good AI prices and should be reviewed as such. I have seen many guests moaning about the food, drinks or pool and based on our experience they are not valid. Let’s discuss 3 key areas:
Food: did not do lunch but essentially go late to breakfast and early for dinner and you will get the best experience. We went at 6.45pm and the place was really quiet until circa 7:30pm which was perfect for us. Furthermore the food was continental with lots of fish etc but then we were on a Spanish island in a Spanish hotel but we always found pork, veal, beef, chicken and pasta dishes on different nights and there was even a Mexican one night. If chips are your thing they we available every time.
Pool was smallish but never overcrowded because the location of the hotel meant most people either explored the town or went to the beach
Drinks were generally fine, the rose wine took a bit to translate and was truly nasty but there were loads of other options so we just found alternative drinks to have. There was the occasional cue but I believe that was more to do with us brits rushing for last orders at 11pm
Location is amazing and we found it a great mix of sightseeing and beech holiday
Finally the air conditioning was okay but remember to shut the balcony doors as otherwise it will not turn on
Thanks again, my family thoroughly enjoy it

18 people went on a family trip from September 20 to 24. To say that the arrival with reception was very good, attentive and friendly. The only drawback there was that they put 6 rooms on one floor, and 1 was alone on another. When we had asked that they all be together in the same one.
We arrived in the afternoon and we had to wait for dinner to eat xk even though we had everything included, there was almost nothing at the pool bar, which was what was open at that time.
The rooms were not very clean. The bathtub screen and faucets had limescale from many months ago. The screen was not transparent because it had so much lime. The bathtub had mold inside and between the tiles. And bathing there like that was not very comfortable. The hotel itself, in general, lacked cleanliness, for example, the dining room chairs were also very dirty.
The staff throughout the hotel were super friendly. The dining room waiters always had a smile despite the work they had, which made it obvious that they were short of staff. The food buffet was very good. And the woman at the grill is very friendly and close.
We went all inclusive and we were disappointed. Almost nothing comes in. Just drinks and little else. And between meals they would put some sandwiches, fruits, cookies.... something very very scarce. If you want water, you have to go to a dispenser that changes location depending on the time. When the bar is open, or when the pool bar is open.....
Almost none of us swim in the pool. The water was cold because the sun gives it very little time. Pool towels are taken at reception, leaving a deposit of €10 per towel, which is then returned when you leave.
The performances were very poor. Always the same. Sing.
At that time there were only elderly people staying in the hotel, it seemed like we were in a residence hehehe. Our children only played with each other because there were no other children.
Despite that, and everything could be improved...... We had a good vacation and the weather was good, which we were able to take advantage of to walk and visit things.
Thanks to all the hotel staff!!!

Never again. What a tired hotel and probably the worst hot food buffet I’ve ever experienced. If you love salad then great, wonderful salads. If you love deserts then great, wonderful deserts. But anything actually cooked on the premises was dire…
Beds were comfy and everywhere was kept clean - great respect for their housekeepers. The staff on reception were very helpful and friendly. The bar staff were OK but as they were very short staffed it all seemed a little chaotic.
The entertainment was dreadful, that’s if it happened at all.
We will not go back ever again, Puerto De La Cruz is a beautiful area and we will be staying at another hotel that can prepare food that’s edible.

Wont be back.
We’ve travelled Spain a lot and have always gone all inclusive, this has been the worst. We’ve not eaten at the hotel for more then breakfast. If your vegetarian you can look forward to plain pasta with fried onion or salad. Food for kids is impossible. Not sure how it’s 4* I’ve stayed at better 3* photos are misleading, enterance is modern rest of hotel is dated. Fridges are warm, entertainment consists of one man and repetitive every night. Rooms weren’t clean, staff aren’t all that friendly bar the main reception staff, kids can’t have inflatable in the pool, pool snacks are small amount of left over breakfast or you have to pay for something else (even when all inclusive) drinks even at main bar switch between glasses and paper cups. The ‘facilities’ inside for all inclusive guests are never on or full. Huge bar ques with 1 staff member, entertainment room tiny and always packed. Pool tiles are slippery constantly could do with anti slip mats. One pool game all week and even then not enough noodles for everyone. Can never get a lift it takes forever!!! If you put your room key anywhere near your phone it has to be changed at reception as won’t work again. No English tv channels at all - makes TVs slightly pointless for English travellers. Pool table broken every 2 minutes and requiring maintenance, all in all really dissapointed and feel like it’s massively over priced! Another couple got a refund from their reps due to the food looking and tasting inedible, and I have to agree! Severe lack of staff and management. The staff they do have are over worked (the entertainment man!!) the man on reception in the evenings was very helpful however everyone else looks stressed and constantly on the go. Lack of sun loungers no where near enough to cater to half the hotel let alone anymore. The railings on our balcony are coming away at one corner and the main part is wobbly and we are high up meaning we haven’t risked using it which made paying for sea views pointless!!! Air con may aswell not work as it’s hopeless.
Won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend especially with children

Dear Natasha, Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your stay at our 4-star family-friendly hotel. We sincerely regret that your stay did not meet your expectations. We would like to kindly assure you that our staff follows the correct protocols and will always be more than happy to resolve any doubts our guests may have. However, there are somewhat unfortunate statements, exaggerations and interested comments that I understand are filler to give value to your comment. Anyway, we apologise for any inconvenience caused, and we will forward your observations to the correct teams for their revision. We hope that you will keep in your future holiday plans so we can exceed your holiday requirements, and until then, we wish you well. Sincerely, Jordi Simó Hotel Manager

This was a last minute (bargain booking) for us due to the COVID isolation restrictions being lifted prior to travel! We are currently on our last night All inclusive in this amazing hotel. The service has been outstanding, not only are the chefs having to work super hard cooking everything, they are also now serving customers too from behind a clear plastic screen. You point to What you want, and they plate it up. You want more, you ask for more and they give it! Drinks are being served whilst seated at the tables. We have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes to get through the queue for a meal! It has all been very well structured and organised. The pool bar is smaller, but also excellent service. Inside, masks have to be worn or you will not be served! People have been kicking off about this, but it’s the rules of the country and not the bar man!! The rooms are lovely and spacious, we’ve had 2 adults and a 17 year old (so basically 3 adults) and have lived comfortably in our room with 3 single beds and a large wardrobe.
Unfortunately due to the area the weather isn’t the greatest on this side
Of the island, and the tall buildings surrounding the pool don’t help with trying to catch some sun, however - we hired a car and drove further round the coast, even 25km makes a huge difference to the weather.
The staff have all been amazing, Eli at reception was especially helpful as we had to print our track and trace forms for return to the UK and he did all that for us! Just over the road is a mini shopping centre with a supermarket, and a 10 minute walk away is lago martianez, a beautiful pool complex and well worth a visit! If anyone is staying in this hotel during the COVID crisis, please know you will be safe and well looked after. Unfortunately rules changed whilst we were here, so we now have 14 days of isolation when we get home. Luckily myself and my Husband have understanding bosses.

Yes in Bar area but does not open until 5pm
Yes (bottled beer) I think approx €9 a day to upgrade. To be honest bottled beer is only €2 a bottle if you are all inclusive. Bar shuts dead on 11 every night we were there May 24.
I thought they were OK and not diluted
