Wife and I just stayed here on the second floor. Included breakfast is nice, not to my taste, but 4 stars for variety and accessibility. Ocean view is obstructed by large hotels on the water, but not bad. Nice view of El Teide. Worst thing was the toilet in our room ran LOUDLY all night, and the Wi-Fi was spotty at best. All in all, a mixed bag. Would look at other options next time.

Bed was comfy and food was good, so have rated it on that. Some people seemed disappointed with the food choice, but you get a good selection for what you pay for. Staff were friendly but distant. Although a bottle of champagne was sent to room on my partners birthday..... All inclusive, they advertise snacks at pool bar, that's not true at all and my main gripe. Steps to the hotel from main road were steep but manageable. Pool not heated but plenty of sunbeds.

Having been to over 90 countries I have stayed in a lot of hotels. El Tope immediately stood out as everything from the greeting, bar service, breakfast service, dinner service, house keeping, pool service etc was carried out with a fantastic attitude. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. You are always greeted with a friendly smile, no matter how busy they were. The hotel was fully booked and it is easy to understand why. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a hassle free holiday.

Well situated hotel, when it was built it was probably one of the best in the area. The bedroom was huge and had a long balcony with loungers and chairs although the decor was slightly old fashioned (definitely not the ones in the pictures) good sized bathroom too. We had a fridge and air con (although the room is so big the air con couldn’t really cope) Rooms we’re cleaned daily by lovely staff. Reception were very welcoming and helpful as were pool bar staff, drinks reasonably priced and good selection of drinks and cocktails. Pool area lovely and lots of beds - pool was very cold though! Great breakfast- lots of choice. There was evening entertainment but not to our taste which was fine as we’re B&B so we went out each night. Be aware it’s on a hill so either a steep road or 212 steps (good exercise) to the front - there is a great tapas bar on the steps el Camino well worth a visit even if it’s just for a breather. If you head up the hill there are bars but they’re not great! We booked last minute and got a good deal, good room and a great holiday

I’ve stayed previously in numerous hotels in Puerto, this was the best. I was very pleasantly surprised after reading various reviews. I arrived very late and was welcomed, there was a meal waiting, bubbly in the room and fruit. The room was very stylish and comfortable, the walk in shower - amazing. I was allocated a mountain view and because I was on a higher floor, it turned out to be a sea view as well. The balcony was in full sun! The air conditioning could be improved but it was comfortable. The dining room experience was flexible - inside or outside dining, there were plenty of tables, the food was imaginative and excellent. Some dishes may have been hotter but the grill always served freshly cooked fish or meat. There was no difficulty in finding something I would like. Breakfast was excellent- such a wide choice and range of fruit, bread, pastries and even freshly made omelette. The staff were outstanding to knowing what I wanted and when. Martin, my waiter, was professional and very pleasant. The location of the hotel is amazing; up a hill but down the steps and up the slope quickly got me acclimatised to it. I would definitely return without hesitation.

Room Tip: It’s on a hill. If you like the sun, ask for a mountain view, which was stunning. Near to town.

Having read previous reviews we nearly cancelled our reservation. We are so glad that we didn’t. We booked half board on the basis that the additional cost was very reasonable and that we would recoup this cost by eating in a few times rather than the more expensive restaurants in town. Breakfast choice was good and the dining room was well managed. Food was replaced frequently and the egg station was excellent. There was a wide and varied choice of meals in the evenings. There wasn’t much of an ambience due to the large size of the dining room, but the friendly staff made us feel welcome. We had a corner room which was great. The beds were comfortable and long enough for my 6’5” husband. The maid service was exceptional not only in our room but throughout the hotel. The bar area was attractive with good service. The entertainment provided was to a high standard although would not be to everybody’s taste. Reception was very helpful and assisted us by printing our boarding passes. Yes, there were one or two members of staff who weren’t interested in helping guests, but the overwhelming majority were very accommodating. We would definitely recommend .

This hotel needs a coat of paint and sprucing up. Very clean but very basic. Bar staff were great. Breakfast good. Pool very cold and not at all as in photos . Need to provide more ….. always running out of snacks no crisps or nuts. Some of the reception staff were not very helpful . Would we stay there again. A definite no .

Spent 4 nights here as a couple in their 20s Staff 3/5 - really really nice and informative. Were able to provide us with plenty of useful info on the zoo and bus station info which we needed to travel into South Tenerife. Unfortunately we did ask for an iron 3 times which they failed to send up to our room on each occasion. Pool 4/5 - plenty of sun loungers and lovely big pool. Poolside bar was also fine (definitely recommend the sangria!) Only downside was the lack of atmosphere, some chilled music would have been great but we just brought a speaker and had no complaints. Room 4/5 - shower was great, bed was comfy and the maid was in every day cleaning and changing the sheets. We didn't even use the safe and mistakenly left valuables lying around and nothing was taken. It was a basic room but we were hardly in it so can't complain. Food 2/5 - breakfast was actually OK, plenty of hot and cold options. However, dinner was very poor. Not many options and mostly luke warm at best. Spoke to another few guests around our age whilst there who agreed but it was maybe food more suited at older guests as the majority are. Location 3/5 - would have been a 4 if not for all the stairs getting up to the hotel from the main beach/town area. Ince you make it down the hill there's everything you could need from a holiday in tenerife. Please visit Irish bar The Molly Malone, it is fantastic! We noticed on the last day there's actually plenty of bars and restaurants at the top of the hill where the hotel sits too so you don't always need to head down the hill/stairs each night. Bar - can't rate as we never went but it's really big and looks nice however the music we heard coming from it was aimed at the older guests which isn't necessarily a bad thing but just not our vibe.

Just returned from this hotel yesterday unfortunately it is far from 4 stars, easily a 2 star hotel. It is very outdated with old style wooden furniture and cream marble decor very 80s style. The lower levels are dark and poorly lit and the fire doors are left open all day and night so you do not feel secure in your room. When we looked outside these doors you could see back packer in tents in the lower surrounding area, some corridors had old sunloungers stacked in them. The aircon dripped water the entire stay and does not work enough to be worth even using. Wi-Fi is extremely poor our router got changed 3 times before we had got a decent connection. The pool is way too deep to be safe, there are no hand rails either, for the size of the hotel 1 swimming pool is pretty poor form they needed at least 3 more including a kiddies pool, this was extremely disappointing so we went into the town centre and paid 5 euros each at the local swimming facility. The food was good but then after a few nights it became very mis matched and thrown together! The drinks prices change ever night too. Any changes cost money and be warned that your transfer will take 3 to 4hrs as they obviously get paid for their milage. Travel here if your elderly and do not mind an old style hotel on the cheap with basic facilities and not so helpful reception at times. Cleaners are the most helpful and friendly at all times!!
