The Hotel Puerto de la Cruz is located in the residential area of La Paz of Puerto de la Cruz, with fantastic views towards the sea or towards Mount Teide. The hotel has been recently refurbished and is surrounded by a splendid subtropical garden with a large variety of regional plants. It is situated 10 minutes from the city centre and from the Martiánez swimming pool and artifitial lake complex, creation of the lanzaroteño artist César Manrique. The capital Santa Cruz is 35 km away and the airports Reina Sofía (south) and Los Rodeos (north) are 96 km and 25 km away respectively.

Booked all inclusive for a weekend get away over Easter with a friend. Facilities were OK. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit dated but overall not too bad. Very disappointed with the all inclusive. The food wasn't too bad, a fair amount of options (although if you are vegetarian or vegan I would probably avoid and there were a few dishes labelled as "meat" which I didn't sample as I prefer to know what I am eating). The "all-inclusive" is very misleading.. I wasn't surprised at only having house spirits available but there were restrictions on what alcohol was included. Only 3 of the cocktail menu were free, all the others you had to pay extra for and the bar menu for snacks was also limited to only a couple of options. We made sure we drank any cocktails at other bars as we refused to pay for any extras at the hotel. Service was ok. The staff in the restaurant were pleasant and helpful but those on reception and at the bar were pretty frosty. As others have mentioned, it is up a hill so if you walk down to the beach you do need a minimum level of fitness to get back up. Having said that it is quite a short walk and wasn't really a problem for us. All in all, it was fine for a long weekend, probably wouldn't stay any longer and won't be rushing back.

Stayed as part of a large group during April 2022. Found all of the bar/ restaurant and reception staff very friendly and helpful. Food was very varied so a great option for our teenagers and staff. Evening entertainment was quite basic but not something we needed. Pool area clean and relaxing, not too noisy at either pool. Good amenities in local area including bars, restaurants and supermarkets with a short walk into the town. No fridge in standard rooms but bed very comfortable and large balcony.

Oh dear something has gone wrong with this hotel. We've stayed here before and enjoyed it, but it has slipped in quality. For me the main problem is most of the guests are 'all inclusive' so me as a 'pay as you go' guest got treated the same as them. This is supposed to be 4* so why do I have to queue up at the bar for my drinks, I expect waiter service, not a 10 minute wait in line because there's only 1 bar staff (presumably to slow down the all inclusive drinkers). And in the restaurant, if I order a glass of wine or a coke, I don't expect it to come out of the 'self service' dispenser that the AI guests are having. And then on leaving the dining room I'm told that if I want to charge it to the room I have to set up a line of credit with reception. Is that really how you think a 4* hotel operates? One of the reasons I booked this hotel was the evening entertainment, but 2 nights of the week is 'day off' for the entertainment. I don't consider someone playing recorded music as entertainment, I can listen to the radio for that. My reservation said check in at 1.00pm, so we arrived at that time and were then told we couldn't check in until 3.00pm, not good enough. €8 daily to park my car, why? It's free at the Hotel Tope across the road. Sorry but I won't rush back here, there are a lot of hotels in this price bracket that don't treat their paying guests so shoddily

I stayed in many hotels on Canary Islands before. Smy Hotel was the most friendly of them all. The staff was going an extra mile and always greated us with a smile. Always happy to help. A wide range of food and a clean room. To the management: you can be very proud of your helpful and hard working staff. Thanks to your staff our stay was amazing.

Firstly the redeeming points. The staff were lovely and polite and friendly. I could imagine this being a pretty grim holiday if they weren't. So the website says "located in the quiet location of paz" . Ummmm wth?! It's directly smack bang in the middle of a main road with cars, motorbikes and ambulances tooting all day and late into the night. You can see in my photos the busy road. "The most modern and comfortable facilities" . Not if you were in our room on the 3rd floor. It is so dated and tired. No headboard so if you lean up against the wall your bed on wheels moves. I mean it wasnt dirty but dubious blankets on the bed and definitely in dire need of updating. Somebody upstairs must have been playing muscle chairs as all we could here was beds/ chairs scraping on the floor for ages. No little fridge to keep any water cool unless you pay more. About 8 hangers for two people. It says no smoking but someone in our vicinity has been puffing away and that comes straight into the room. Vom. "Most complete and varied breakfast". Never have I eaten so much brown, bland food. Fresh fruit in season??!!! Must have been hidden. So glad we didn't pay full board! Sunbeds? Dont you mean Scumbeds. These are disgusting and probably been here since 1980. Black and grimy. If you grab one be prepared for people watching you in all your swimwear glory whilst they eat their food as it is all open to EVERYONE to see you and that includes all the passer by pedestrians on the pavement. Bring your hiking boots and your oxygen. The "short walk" is not ideal for anyone wearing flip flops, anyone who hasn't visited a gym in a while, anyone who has a disability, basically it is a LOT of stairs. Didn't see any free shuttles but I believe they finish at 6 according to the website so eating out late you better take your Redbull. Don't fall for the photos of a jungle oasis around the pool it is not secluded like its made out to be. Would we recommend? .. even in the summer it would not be a place of choice so no! So glad it was 4 days only .

This hotel has been given such a bad wrap on here. Nothing but hard working staff here....... I've never encountered any rudeness at all... The food is OK (and thats coming from a fussy eater) I booked this hotel because I wanted to avoid the 2200 bill coming back from a red listed country (Turkey) My welcom was warm.... I've had not a single problem here. Yeah the rooms don't look like the pictures (but with the same people that actually make a massive deal about this are the ones posting on Facebook with filters themselves 🤷🏼‍♂️) ... And if its got to a point where you've been asked to leave.. My only way of thinking after that is.. You've been the one thats being disrespectful or rude....... Its too easy to write a negative review these days and I think that some places should snap back..... Gone are the days when you (not me) YOU can treat the staff badly and think you can leave a bad review. Steph on the pool bar was great.... All staff are really welcoming at this hotel and to prove a point... House keeping always say hello when your passing and can't do enough for you. I find it very hard sometimes to travel on a UK passport because I never want to be tarnished with the same brush as any other rude English that have acted in a way for them to be ejected from the hotel. If you give respect you get respect..... Every action has an Equal and opposite reaction so rightly so if someone has been asked to leave because of there attitude then in my books thats great because I wouldn't want anyone like that around me when I'm trying to relax Covid measures are in place here so the dinner hall is not to busy with too many people and there's always staff around cleaning To finish on a positive... I'd definitely be coming back here for another week or 2 And on a lighthearted note.... Never dream about getting into a pillow fight with you Mrs In the room as the pillows are (comfortable as hell) but weigh about 2kg 😂 Thanks for the warm welcome and amazing service you've given me Room 707......sep 5th - sep 15

The all inclusive alcohol was dreadful and also the wine was bad The food was always cool and just not appetising. The staff were excellent and the hotel was very clean Wouldn’t stay again plenty of other hotels in Puerto that are better. We travel a lot to hotels in Puerto as we live in the south of Tenerife this is normally on a three day basis and will not be using this one again.

I would avoid this hotel, the staff have absolutely no idea on customer service in these difficult times I would have thought that they would have showed some consideration for people with hidden health issues especially when a letter from a GP was presented. We were told to leave early with no offer of a refund and had to pay for new flights home. Appalling service all round.

My wife and my 8 month old son travelled 22nd July - 5th August 2020. We were one of the first to stay at the hotel post lock down from COVID 19. This was our first time in the island of Tenerife. We chose this destination due to the extremely low cases over the last few months and when we arrived it was clear to see why. The hotel was immaculately clean.. hand sanitizers on every wall. Toilets were always kept clean and disinfected. And the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I’d like to mention Phillipe who worked the pool bar during the day and the bar inside on an evening. I understand he had worked at the hotel for considerable amount of time. He was so friendly and always went above and beyond. My only criticism is with the restaurant, we were all inclusive and we were allocated time slots to eat which was fine with us. Breakfast 7:30-8:30 - lunch 13:00-15:00 and dinner 19:00-20:00. The time was perfect for us. But we have 3 other children that didn’t travel with us on this occasion but could see it being an issue if they was. The pool bar had very ltd options and no vegetarian choice in the all inclusive package. Burger, chicken wings or hotdog. The choice of food in the restaurant was very mixed.. again not much vegetarian options. Salad, potatoes or soup was the main choices. I do eat meat occasionally but don’t eat seafood so was a little restricted with the choices. Again, I don’t want to knock the food just because I’m picky. There wasn’t a huge choice but I put this down to COVID restrictions. You have to wear a face mask in the restaurant unless eating. Another criticism is with the drinks terminals.. it’s self service. The soft drinks were not turned on, on a morning.. just juice (which was poor diluted out of a machine, not very nice) .. water or hot drinks. And the hot drinks were turned off at lunch time? We couldn’t get a coffee after we had eaten until we went to the pool bar. I thought this very strange? The main foyer of the hotel and the bar area Is very modern, clean and tidy.. we stayed on the 6th floor and had a pool view balcony room 632. The room was clean but quite small and very dilapidated. On one occasion there was a que for the lifts so I decided to take the stairs.. all the floors are identical except for the 5th floor which had modern carpets in the hall ways and different signage!? It was like a different hotel on the floor!! Would love to have seen the rooms!? I hope the hotel reads this review and explains the difference? All of my criticism’s have been minor and we would definitely consider going here again. Location was perfect. Lots to do and see. Supermarkets, beaches all within a few 100 metered walking distance but be prepared for some big, steep hills! If you have mobility issues this isn’t the best hotel for you. Overall, I’ve given 4/5 stars but few under different circumstances, (non COVID times) the hote would have been even better.
