The Hotel Puerto de la Cruz is located in the residential area of La Paz of Puerto de la Cruz, with fantastic views towards the sea or towards Mount Teide. The hotel has been recently refurbished and is surrounded by a splendid subtropical garden with a large variety of regional plants. It is situated 10 minutes from the city centre and from the Martiánez swimming pool and artifitial lake complex, creation of the lanzaroteño artist César Manrique. The capital Santa Cruz is 35 km away and the airports Reina Sofía (south) and Los Rodeos (north) are 96 km and 25 km away respectively.

I would avoid this hotel, the staff have absolutely no idea on customer service in these difficult times I would have thought that they would have showed some consideration for people with hidden health issues especially when a letter from a GP was presented. We were told to leave early with no offer of a refund and had to pay for new flights home. Appalling service all round.

My wife and my 8 month old son travelled 22nd July - 5th August 2020. We were one of the first to stay at the hotel post lock down from COVID 19. This was our first time in the island of Tenerife. We chose this destination due to the extremely low cases over the last few months and when we arrived it was clear to see why. The hotel was immaculately clean.. hand sanitizers on every wall. Toilets were always kept clean and disinfected. And the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I’d like to mention Phillipe who worked the pool bar during the day and the bar inside on an evening. I understand he had worked at the hotel for considerable amount of time. He was so friendly and always went above and beyond. My only criticism is with the restaurant, we were all inclusive and we were allocated time slots to eat which was fine with us. Breakfast 7:30-8:30 - lunch 13:00-15:00 and dinner 19:00-20:00. The time was perfect for us. But we have 3 other children that didn’t travel with us on this occasion but could see it being an issue if they was. The pool bar had very ltd options and no vegetarian choice in the all inclusive package. Burger, chicken wings or hotdog. The choice of food in the restaurant was very mixed.. again not much vegetarian options. Salad, potatoes or soup was the main choices. I do eat meat occasionally but don’t eat seafood so was a little restricted with the choices. Again, I don’t want to knock the food just because I’m picky. There wasn’t a huge choice but I put this down to COVID restrictions. You have to wear a face mask in the restaurant unless eating. Another criticism is with the drinks terminals.. it’s self service. The soft drinks were not turned on, on a morning.. just juice (which was poor diluted out of a machine, not very nice) .. water or hot drinks. And the hot drinks were turned off at lunch time? We couldn’t get a coffee after we had eaten until we went to the pool bar. I thought this very strange? The main foyer of the hotel and the bar area Is very modern, clean and tidy.. we stayed on the 6th floor and had a pool view balcony room 632. The room was clean but quite small and very dilapidated. On one occasion there was a que for the lifts so I decided to take the stairs.. all the floors are identical except for the 5th floor which had modern carpets in the hall ways and different signage!? It was like a different hotel on the floor!! Would love to have seen the rooms!? I hope the hotel reads this review and explains the difference? All of my criticism’s have been minor and we would definitely consider going here again. Location was perfect. Lots to do and see. Supermarkets, beaches all within a few 100 metered walking distance but be prepared for some big, steep hills! If you have mobility issues this isn’t the best hotel for you. Overall, I’ve given 4/5 stars but few under different circumstances, (non COVID times) the hote would have been even better.

Nice hotel. I had a single room on the top floor with a large balcony with had great views of mount Teide. It was nice and clean and the tv and air con etc were all working ok. The food was good, different options every night and quite tasty. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pools were great, the lower pool had a bar right next to it and you can also order snacks and sit outside there. Quite a few shops, bars and restaurants nearby if you venture out. There was quite a few steps down to the town but had benches & cafes to stop along the way, so wasn’t too bad to get up and down which we did several times a day.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in February 2020. We were on the 3rd floor with a balcony facing the ocean with lovely views but that is where it ended! The hotel is up on a hill so for seniors or anyone with a mobility issue it is not suitable unless you get a taxi everywhere - even to get the local bus you have to walk uphill. Hotel has a free shuttle to the waterfront but that does not run on Sundays and half day on Saturday and it only goes to the waterfront. Wifi is terrible from anywhere in the hotel and often we could not get any service in our room. Had to speak to the reception about it several times and was told they would adjust the router! The dining room is only buffet and it is a free for all - first night we ate there two men nearly had a fight at the salad bar! Food leaves a lot to be desired at supper with a lot of dishes that are overcooked, chicken done on a grill that is half cooked, dishes that are not labelled or not labelled correctly. Breakfast is a bit better but be aware that whatever is left from supper the night before will be on the hot buffet next morning - green beans, rabbit, cauliflower etc. Jams and marmalade have to be pumped out of a container and no peanut butter to be seen. I ate mostly salad and fruit at supper as I was not sure sometimes what was in the dishes especially when a sauce was put on it so preferred not to eat it. The pool is nice but the deck chairs need to be replaced as they are yellow and appear to be dirty and some in need of repair. There is a snack bar out by the pool for food at lunch but we never used it. There are 3 elevators - one was out of service for the entire time we were there with a notice posted on it on the ground floor that it was not working - wonder when it will be fixed!! Staff are not very friendly at this hotel particularly in the dining room - almost makes you feel as if you are doing them a favour by eating there. There are a few small shops and a small grocery store up the hill where we went to buy water but everything takes place down on the waterfront and it is way too far to walk down far less to walk back up hill. Air conditioning was not available until March 1 - we arrived on February 26! And then they would turn it off in the morning and it would not be available until later in the afternoon. Our room did not have a walk in shower so if you have a mobility issue you need to ask if they have accessible showers as we had a tub with a shower. We would not stay here again if we came back to Tenerife.

Very big resort, 3 different hotels, staff were not friendly, just fake smile and useless. Room was big, not enough clean. Food on breakfast and dinner was almost the same. Overall impression is just not bad for sleep.
