After reading all the reviews, positive and negative, I booked a week’s holiday at this hotel. The positive: great location, just 10 minutes gentle stroll from the relaxed centre of the town, 5 minutes from a lovely beach and 5 minutes from the bus station. Hotel is clean, rooms sizeable, beds comfy, shower powerful with plenty of hot water. Pool area is a pleasant sun trap until late afternoon with lots of sun loungers. Breakfast was plentiful, with a good range of choice. The ‘English’ breakfast looked a bit tired, but the continental selection was tasty, with a wide selection of breads, pastries, cold meats, cheese and fruit. A omelette station has a chef who will cook you a fresh omelette. The machine coffee is a bit on the rough side, and the dining room is a bit canteen-like. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel. Staff all helpful and friendly. The not-so-positive: We were warned about construction work on the sea side of the hotel. We barely noticed any noise over the constant crashing of the waves against the sea wall! I loved this, but my partner found it a bit oppressive. The street cleaners outside at 7am were also noisier than the construction. There is a small football stadium outside, with floodlights on until 10pm. Again, not much of an issue, unless you’re trying to get little ones to sleep early. No blackout curtains at the windows. There are two small lifts, but only one was working, while the other was being worked on nearly every day. This caused some frustration, especially at breakfast time. Most people were seeing the funny side, but it was a bit annoying. The brochure said there were table tennis and pool tables, but the staff told us this was not currently the case. My main problem was the lack of a fridge in the room. I did know about this in advance, and experience has now taught me that this is a deal breaker for me. The hotel’s website bills it as 4*, while our tour operator billed it as 3*, which is much more accurate in my view. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay, and felt we got good value for money.

Hotel's Favorite
Stayed here from November 9th to 16th. Chose this particular hotel due to its handy location to explore the mountain and surrounding areas, and I hired a motorcycle to enjoy doing just this. So this is a 3* rated hotel, sure it's not the grandest by any means, but clean, friendly and well located - being close to the beach and the town. I found the Staff here exceptional. From check-in to check-out & all in between. Gracia checked me in and was ever so helpful, she really was fabulous. Throughout the holiday she checked that all was okay, and gave me good tips and helpful local information. On the last night, I enjoyed a lengthy friendly chat with her, where we shared a lovely coconut yoghurt drink at reception lol. The room maids, were all lovely too, as well as the female poolside attendant and all the restaurant staff. I must mention Eli here, she was also fantastic, and looked forward to being greeted by her lovely friendly smile each morning & evening. She was a delight and like Gracia, a credit to the Meliá hotel group. So aside from the excellent staff, my room(214) was good. It was end of corridor with a rear view of mountains and side view of the sea. Beds were comfortable if possibly a fraction hard, but I slept well on them, so no complaints. A/C was just ok, could perhaps use a servicing to have it operating at its coldest, however as I visited in November - despite being warm weather, wasn't too bad in room. Bathroom was decent with a good shower. Room had a safe(payable at reception) which I used for my stay. Only thing which I would have like was a small fridge in room, but considering the 3stars and price paid, maybe this is understandable by its absence. The main square in Puerto de la Cruz is Plaza de Charco where you will find all the restaurants, bars & shops you would need. I used the Compostelano de Charco several times, for great food, drink, screened football and friendly service. So all-in-all I can very much recommend the Sol Puerto de la Cruz hotel, and also the lovely resort. I will definitely be back.

A very basic hotel without any amenities, not even parking. Rooms have a television with blurred images, no minibar, nothing extra. Walls could use a coat of paint. A very cold environment without art and minimal decoration. The bar area is very large but on a few plastic tables. I feel like I’m in a senior community center. Ocean view blocked by construction and a noisy children’s football field.

We booked this hotel because we used to love it and have stayed every time when visiting puerto de la cruz earlier years. Let's start with the good points. 1. I still like the location that so close to the beautiful seaside. We didn't need to walk so far especially for special moment photography. 2. The breakfast is still good. Buffet with quite many seletions. The bad points: 1. The hotel needs maintenance badly. We have booked 2 rooms, when we did check-in and enter the rooms, we were shocked. One room door was broken in a way like anyone can break in. And the toilet seat was broken which feels like it will crashed in pieces anytime while using. The closet was moisted totally with broken doors. The air conditioner was not working at all. The card didn't work at all for the room door so that we had to go to reception to get it solved at least 2 times a day. And till we checked out, no solution at all. The other room there was a footstep mark on the bed. And we were told it is impossible to get the sheet changed nor change a room. 2. The staff was rude and unprofessional with very limited English skills. 3. The dinner buffet was terrible with overpricing. I would say this hotel is quite far from 4 star. Would be maxiumlly 3 even 2. It is time to discover a new place from now on.

Hotel Clean and tidy, quick check in and Friendly staff, positioned a couple of mins over the road to a nice black beach. Pool area not mega large but clean with free sunbeds. Might be a little busy in season but was perfect when we were here recently. Entertainment in the bar area is just a guy with a guitar or a keyboard playing Spanish/English classics and seemed to attract ballroom dancers and we enjoyed watching this but don’t be expecting anything amazing. Breakfast had a good choice (everything from full English to pastries, bread and fruit but everything that should be warm was cold even at busy times. There is a microwave to heat it up though. Pastries were stale although the bread seemed nice and fresh. Our room had a sea view which at the moment is a view of a building site and football pitch. They started work pretty early on a morning and if your a light/late sleeper could disturb you. Until this work is finished I’d suggest a Mountain View. It’s about a 15/20 pleasant walk into the main area but there are a few restraints and bars close by. All in all we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this hotel.

Who decided this has 4 star accreditation?. Paid over 300 EURO for a 2 night stay.2024 and a 4 star hotel that has no fridge , no coffee making facilities, dirty walls and also faces a construction site which begins work early which was not made clear on booking.Feel abused .Breakfast which is allegedly free haha don't make me laugh was not to a 4 star standard. Coffee and croissants was all I felt was edible. STAY AWAY and spend your hard earned money elsewhere

The hotel staff were very helpful and obliging, however, check-in was slow even though we were the only ones there. The entertainment was poor with no one hanging around to see it. We had half board and the food was ok but nothing special. We had a Sea view on the 5 th floor, however, construction site right across the street and was very noisy from 0730 ,and, in the evening, the football stadium next to the building was noisy until 2200h. The hotel was tired looking with mould growing on the ceiling in our room and the room smelled musty. We enjoyed our stay for 2 nights as the city was superb to look around. This place might have been 4 star when new, but should be downgraded to 3 star most if not 2star.

I have just arrived and I've emailed love holidays to move me. It was sold to me as a 4 star. It's crap. The air conditioning doesn't work. the bathroom has hair and toothpaste debris from the previous occupant because it's dirty. One lift broken. Noisy. My room overlooks a football pitch with floodlights. No fridge. 3.50 for a can from a vending machine on the first floor. 1 plug socket on opposite side of the room. I hate it and i feel miserable, and I am going to demand to be moved to a proper 4-star hotel, not this hostel level toilet

Traveled with 3 friends and we had a great time in the area and at the hotel. The overall experience of the hotel was good value for money and in a great location. The bad points was the price of a pint of beer at the hotel bar. €5 most expensive iv seen in Spain so this stopped us from drinking at the hotel and around the pool. The food was great!! But we experienced a very rude woman waitress , she had glasses and walked around with an attitude and swinging her arms, she was reported to Jesus at reception as we felt that this ruined our Hoilday at the hotel. Everyone else was nice and friendly and welcoming part from this one waitress. I have been to 100s of Spanish hotels in the past and iv never been treated like this by anyone at dinner and to be so rude to guests. She needs to be sacked! Would definitely return , but these 2 points above would need to be rectified.

Small elevator , only one working . But nice exercise to use stairs to fift floor… Room worn out, sea view and a huge construction in front , noise tremendous starting at 07. Air condition not working, did change the room and same thing. Later saw reviews about same thing months ago… Food was ok and staff working tremendously hard!! But dining space in the cellar , was no noisy and unpleasant like a garage … Situated nicely , near everything . If you’ll have a so called sea view , i’ll recommend noise cancelling earplugs !
