However, the walls are very thin so I could hear the people in the next room especially when the snoring woke me up at 03.00. Could hear doors banging & toilets flushing! A little expensive for what it was although the rooms were clean, lovely hot water & new fluffy towels. Staff were friendly. I need to improve my Spanish as no English was spoken & we should not expect everyone to speak English especially when we visit remote places like El Hierro!
We were looking for somewhere to stay for our three night stay in El Hierro and we decided that we wanted to stay in the capital Valverde. All the reviews suggested that Hotel Boomerang would be ideal and it was. The rooms were basic but clean and I’m fairly sure that this hotel had recently been refurbished. We were allocated room 101 which had a large balcony which gave us a great view of the sea, when the clouds lifted, and also the cathedral. We made our reservation including a breakfast which was cereals, bread, ham and cheese etc. The location of the hotel meant that you could walk to local bars and restaurants and there was plenty of parking. This was a good place to stay.
Situated in the Centre of Valverde. 15min Walk from the busstation where all islandbuses leave . Very friendly &helpful staff. Clean and newly renoverad rooms. Excellent Wifi. Free of charge even in room. Sometimes you can hear noice from neighbourrooms. Also there is no heating. This time of year (march) still chilly nights - so heating would have been nice . The towels are still humid in the morning . Breakfast is extra 6€. Indead a good price.
In 2013 I spent a couple of nights at the Hotel Boomerang and was not very happy. My room was on the small side, the bathroom needed a facelift to say the least, and, the whole place smelled of paint since painting was in full progress. Moreover, because there was no breakfast room, guests had to climb up to the main street where a growling stomach can be filled in, for example, bar restaurante Los Reyes, which I can still recommend. This month, at the start of my hiking trip on El Hierro, I booked my first and my last night on the island at the Hotel Boomerang and I was pleasantly surprised on both occasions: my room was much bigger, clean and airy, the bathroom (with full size bath/shower combination) was completely refurbished and could hardly be more spic & span, all floors are now covered with laminate, all doors have been replaced by stylish new ones featuring accurate door locks, and, a complete breakfast can now be enjoyed in a separate room at the ground floor.…
THis hotel is family run and nicely done. NO breakfasts but there are a few places around. There are big rooms and comfortable beds which are clean. There is internet in the rooms and they gave us a kettle for herbal tea at night.
