Las Palmas Urban Center, located in the heart of the city, presents itself as a discreet place, nothing wow, but nevertheless we had a positive experience.
The architecture, although modern, fails to stand out among the surrounding buildings, appearing rather ordinary. The entrance is discreet, and once inside, the atmosphere is pleasant but lacks that element that attracts attention and remains etched in the memory.
The apartment is large and well organised, with a good division of the areas, the bathroom is a little small but still sufficient.
In conclusion, Las Palmas Urban Center is a totally acceptable place to have a base in Las Palmas, suitable for those looking for no-frills accommodation in the heart of the city.
We moved on foot and arrived both at the beach on one side and at the heart of the old city on the other.

Had an overnight stay here as we went to Granca Fest. From the outside, the hotel may not look the prettiest., however, we were pleasantly surprised when we got inside. The reception and cleaning staff were all lovely, and had enough English to help us with our questions. Our room, no. 2, exceeded our expectations with a separate galley kitchen, fully equipped, a separate bathroom and a large, spacious studio bedroom. Everywhere was immaculately clean and the decor is contemporary modern.
We had a very peaceful night's sleep and we will use this hotel again when back in Las Palmas. It's in a good location and the cafe, Olivia across the road is a good choice for breakfast. If you like traditional, but quirky, try the bar Sacristia further along Calke Valencia.

We stayed in this hotel/apartment on March 2015 trying to escape some days form the winter routine, and get some lazy holidays. We did not research much about the island.
Definetely is not the best option. The staff and facilities are ok, but you are a bit far of everything. Honestly the city is not well-know for its beauty, there's not much to do (maybe something interesting in Vegueta, the old-town).
PROS:
+ The apartments are refurbished and clean.
+ Good hot water preassure and temperature.
+ Very friendly staff and atmosphere.
CONS:
- Noisy: Really noisy. There's a correct isolations with the inside apartments, but not with the outside. The hotel is located close to two busy night-bars and at night, depending what's going on on them, it's hard to get sleep. Also in the morning maybe you'll get awake before you'd like...
- Parking. If you are thinking of renting a car, keep in mind that the full area is "blue and green area" which means that only residents can park, or paying 1€/h. So parking the car for some days will be an important extra cost.
- No WiFi on room. Well, maybe close to the entrance door, but not some feet away ;:)

We came from Thursday to Sunday, we requested a room on the 1st floor as we came with a newly operated one-legged person, we were told we were given the two rooms we had booked on the 1st floor and when we arrived we found that the rooms were on the second. When we discussed it at reception they told us that since the other people had arrived before they had given them to them. This meant that the person operated on could not leave everything planned, as the hotel does not have an elevator or some facility for people with reduced mobility. We used to come here every year around this time but what's clear is we don't repeat

The apartments look ok in the photos. However, there is a very nasty surprise at this location awaiting you.The noise at night is dreadful. There are people in the other apartments,Spanish speaking, who shout, laugh around, bang doors, and make noise having sex at 1 am,4am,6am frequently.I am so tired I fall asleep in the day.It is miserable.Complaints to management yield nothing.

Response from LPUC, General Manager at Las Palmas Urban Center
Responded Mar 20, 2015
Thank you for placing a review on our hotel. We realise that quietness and tranquillity is paramount importance to our guests during their stay, however there are situations that the Management cannot control like people having intercourse during their holidays. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. We would like to assure you that we take all negative feedbacks seriously and in a positive spirit. Once again, thank you for your valued comments. Our best wishes, The Management

This won't suit conventional holidaymakers who will want to be on Playa Las Canteras. The entrance is via a narrow door in a side-street and up some narrow stairs. But forget that. In this city it's a rare low-cost option for a large newly-refurbished room with mini-kitchen. Staff are friendly and cleaning is good.

Great accomodation and very cheap for that quality, service, clean, calm... But I would specially recommend this hotel for the location, it is just in the middle between the old town and beaches, and very near to one of the most important shopping areas. You can go by walk to almost every corner in the city.
Staff was really thoughtful and helped us a lot with many things.

I like to think that I got the best value for my money. Nothing disappointed me, the apartment was spacious and very well arranged, with modern furniture and equipment. It had all the necessary kitchen equipment and then some.

Unfortunately these apartments did not meet our requirements and we were disappointed with our stay. The location is in the middle of Las Palmas city, neither near Las Canteras beach or the old centre of the city. It is approximately a 25 minute walk to the beach and a 10-20 minute bus journey to the old town. There is absolutely nothing going on in the direct vicinity, its completely suburban and a bit dull to be honest.
The other main and huge issue for us was the terrible, basically non-existant wifi. We had to sit by the door of our apartment to get any signal and even then it was too poor to really use properly, other times it dropped out completely. We noticed other guests complained about this too but nothing was done to improve it.
Another issue was the noise, which i know other reviewers have mentioned too. The street noise was not so bad, as the small cafe and restaurant below close by 10:30pm, but the noise from reception and internal doors slamming, was really disturbing.
Positives would be that the staff are nice and friendly, and the apartment was clean when we arrived. Also the washing machine was a welcome bonus, but the lack of oven for a longer stay proved annoying.
The price is good, but i guess it depends on what you want. We ended up moving to another apartment as the poor location and wifi issues were ruining our stay.
