If you come to this place for the birds you won't be disappointed. Do not expect a lot re accommodations or food; both are basic which was ok but not great. Personally I would recommend doing a day trip vs staying here (we wish we had done this). Highly recommend staying at Hacienda Jacana (see review) and coming here for...

We spent three nights at Asa Wright, an ideal length of time for keen but amateur birdwatchers, like us. The array of birds visiting just below the famous verandah is amazing and one could spend many hours just watching them coming and going. There are usually one or two friendly guides around helping with identifications. A number of guided walks...

My husband and I spent 5 nights here last week and loved every minute of it. We are avid birders and were out most of the day (and some nights!) birding on the grounds and on trips that left from the lodge. Our room was up the hill (#22) and was spacious and clean. We were only ever in there...

We spent 4 nights here in a twin bedded room up the top of the hill. Positive sides are definitely the staff. Friendly and efficient and catered well for the large number of guests. Our room needed some maintenance: lock did not work and there was no hot water. Both were resoved quickly though so full credit to the staff....

Very well run nature lodge in the mountains of Trinidad. Access roads are quite bad but that's good to reduce traffic and development. Mainly a birders spot. Rooms clean and serviceable. Food basic and reasonable. Guides generally first rate. And staff tries hard to please. Grounds are great for birding and smaller reptiles. Quite a history there as well.

My wife and I stayed at Asa Wright for 4 nights in Oct. 2016. The weather was great while we were there, really hot, really very very hot and humid but no rain. I am a keen birder and my wife is not but does enjoying seeing birds. I absolutely loved this place and so did my wife. The accommodation...

Pros-What a beautiful place. An excellent place to get away from the city and enjoy nature at its finest. The main house/mansion maybe old (100 yrs) but the place is very well maintained and fully operational. A definite if you're a bird watcher and/or nature lover. You are off the grid as there is no wifi or cell phone connectivity....

We often plan vacations around adding to our life lists of birds, but we also wanted a break from our various volunteer projects. Asa Wright Nature Center was the perfect choice. We saw dozens of beautiful and interesting birds from the veranda, were provided with interesting and tasty local food which included tea at 4:00 Pm and rum punch at...

We are from Trinidad and booked a Sunday Lunch for the whole family. We paid 230 TTD per person and children pay half. I was so disappointed. They offered a regular local lunch with no options. It was one starch, one vegetable option and one meat. I understand it is geared towards tourist but for that price I expect a...
