We was only here for the weekend but got to see a lot because of where the hostal was Located, we didn’t stay in the hostal much we was always out but it had a pool and they ironed out clothes for the wedding nice place.
I guess you get what you pay for, but in this case the thing that put me off was that the room smelled which I put down to smoking, even though there was a fairly large "no smoking" sign hanging in the room. The room was sparsely decorated and the location is also a bit out of the way
So... I have just pictured typical european hostel and what? We are xoming and first thing we notice is just really nice small swimming pool. We rented one room and we got a room with its own bathroom and a balcony. What a nice surprice! An equipment is very good and helpful. You will find there a hairdryer, towels, glasses, a handy bottle of water, even toothbrushes. One thing that just killed me: too much plastic! Come on, people! We already know how it is devastating! Even the glasses are in little plastic bags (it sounds like a joke!). So... the hostel was great, the staff very helpful and ready for recommending the restaurants and activities, the swimming pool was just lovely but the plastic everywhere (even on toilet desk to prove the disinfection, and these glasses.... - it was just too much so big minus for that. Consider positive, no-plastic changes and the opinion will be perfect from our side. We will come back for sure and with hope for that kind of changes!…
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable rooms, we had a poolside room and balcony gets sun all day) bed was medium to hard, but better than some beds I’ve slept on ( have marked sleep quality down as I prefer a medium to soft mattress) Room was nice and warm (by a proper radiator) on the cooler evenings, room cleaned every day, breakfast good value at €3.50 pp, selection same every day, but plenty of bars close by if you want something different. Quiet neighbourhood, a short walk to all attractions. Great places to eat/ drink a short walk away. On street parking available if you rent a car. No noise when we stayed. Yep, all round a nice place to stay.
Friendly staff, location a short walk from main attractions, including castle and cathedral. Breakfast decent value and filling for day, although not anything special. Bike rental in hotel excellent value - 6 euro for a full day. Room cleaned everyday nicely. Only negatives were other guests going up and down the stairs was quite loud from our room. Although ear plugs are provided.
