Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Nice pool, not heated but that was not a problem for us. Reception will provide you with towels (deposit) so you don't have to take your own and the sun beds were the best we have ever been on at a hotel.
It's about a 30 minute walk from the city centre but there are buses (number 4 or 20) not too far away that go into town for €2. My only gripe would be that the bed and pillows were too hard for us but this is a personal preference and a small price to pay for such a pleasant stay.
The hotel has an interesting character and is built in colonial style, with many pieces of art and antique furniture which I liked a lot. I also loved the trees and the fact that it's adults-only.
However, the waiters in the restaurant and in the pool area could be more attentive, pro-active and friendly.
Overall my stay at Araxa was a success.
Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool. The room was spacious with good beds and a nice bathroom with walk in shower, The TV had a very good selection of U.K. channels. The room was spotlessly clean and the maid did a lovely job everyday.
The restaurant in the hotel is good too. Lots of non guests come in for meals so there is a good atmosphere.
The hotel seems to run seamlessly and everything is done properly. All areas are spotlessly clean and well maintained.
You can catch a bus to Palma central easily and taxis are only slightly more than the bus fare, you can walk into the centre but if it’s hot we prefer the bus.
We will definitely return, it feels like a home from home even though it is very Spanish.
Small but comfortable, clean bedroom - no balcony or terrace. UK tv channels, room cleaned daily.
Breakfast varied options. Lunch/snack menu very nice, large portion and reasonably priced.
Very disappointed that the pool was closed (opens may) despite being hot in April.
7min walk to bus stop (no4 for 2€) 5 min ride will take you into central palma.
23€ taxi from airport (April 23)
When we finished our meal we went to the bar for coffee and set taking, on paying for the coffees the waitress informed us we had to pay for the drinks at the table, we refused and told her that the drinks were in the half board menu. she told us after some time that we were to see the manager in the morning.
Early next day we went to see the lady manager who was talking to the receptionist lady saying these people do not want to pay for there drinks, As my wife who is Spanish which they did not know, she answered that is not true in Spanish with this the manager said my staff do not lie, my wife said so you are calling all four of us lies. After this the waitress and some of the other staff were very rude to all of us.
I have stayed in better one star hotels then this three star one.
As for the pool aera there is only 22 sun beds for about 200 guests, you cannot sit on the grass because you will kill it.
Would I recommend this hotel never.
The worse feature of the hotel is the heating. It's by air conditioning instead of by central heating radiators, which is what one should expect to find at a hotel of the same or similar characteristics as those of the Hotel Araxa. I was lodged in that hotel in January 2023, on some days where the weather was very cold, so I needed the bedroom to be warm up. The air conditioning machines installed in the hotel bedrooms make a terrible noise, something unbelievably disturbing. Since I coulden't avoid having a worm atmosphere inside my room, I had no alternative but bear such a noise all the time I was awake inside my room. Notwithstanding that, as it's impossible to sleep in such a noisy atmosphere, I had to switch off the device before lying down on bed. Then, since the cold installed itself again in the room, I ran the risk of catching a cold whenever I got up during the night.
As far as the personnel is concerned, not everyone working at the hotel is kind ans polite. The gentleman working at the front desk with whom I did the check-in behaved in a rather rude and impolite way towards me. He wasn't at all helpful or friendly, but quite the opposite.
The other points regarding the hotel are not bad. It finds itself well situated, in a rather healthy area, though a bit far from the city centre, but that wouldn't counteract against any pretended excellencies, should these exist.
The hotel cleanliness is very good. The decoration inside the hotel is very nice, even in the bedroom. The furniture being in the bedroom allocated to me is nice and comfortable - especially the desk where I could do a lot of work - but the noise originating from the air conditioning device and the lack of comfort that results from it are not restrained by the good qualities of the room.
The breakfast is good and abundant. For that meal everything necessary is available from the buffet. All the victuals and drinks which can be had for that meal are of a good quality. The music at the breakfast room isn't too loud and therefore isn't disturbing.
Since I couldn't sleep comfortably, the same may happen to anyone else. My advise is therefore, not to book at that hotel. Otherwise, as it happened to me, the stay there may turn up to be a nightmare.
It was not an enjoyable experience.
I will start at the beginning.
Day 1 no roll or olives offered with evening meal despite being included in board/dining arrangements. The waiter also failed to bring" included drinks" we had ordered to be brought to the table
He seemed too busy dealing with other customers.
A member of staff appeared in the restaurant and was then asked to bring us our drinks.
Later that evening she demanded payment for those drinks.
She refused to accept that she had actually served us with drinks ( 3 beers and an orange juice) that were " included drinks" in our board/dining arrangements. Her attitude was appalling.
We were told if we did not pay the bill it would put it on our account/hotel bill.
We were extremely upset by all these actions and staff behaviour.
Next day we spoke to a member of staff called "Director". She refused to accept what had happened saying she had discussed it with her staff. She made
worse a very unpleasant situation caused by her staff.
She then asked if we wanted the drinks removed from our bill and were told we could not charge anything to our room.
By this time the potential for pleasant stay at the hotel had been completely soured.
Generally we were disappointed with the evening meals that ranged from acceptable to dry to overcooked and just luke warm. There was also a tendency to forget to provide the bread and olives included with the evening meal.
There were insufficient sunbeds for guests.
We thought the bedrooms were a good size and the overall look of the hotel was quite nice.
We felt the hotel was extremely badly managed with little or no thought given to customer care which left us feeling we were not really hotel guests.
We have travelled to numerous destinations all around the world over the last 40 years in a very wide range of hotels and I can not recall ever having cause to give a poor review like this until now.
