Firstly do not whatever you do take the bus to this hotel u less you want a very long luggage in tow steep hike up 3 flights of approx 40cm wide stone staircase followed by further 2 steep roads up to the street where the hotel is located! Their website says the bus stop is just outside the hotel but nothing about how many meters up! Given a room on right from reception (others allocated rooms in left block! Took tiny lift up to 4th floor n thought we were going to fall down the lift shaft it jolted so hard! Corridor smelled like reno and materials. Room was cold with draft coming in under the door, had to use my leggings as an excluder! (You should have seen the dust on them! Happily sacrificed!) Maintenance switched on heater which took approx 15 hours to produce heat by which time daughter took ill as she was so cold! Asked about smoking rules as we had a balcony, told smoking outside hotel only, however looking over my balcony down to the decking area and saw several older spanish people puffing away happily with no interruptions or reprimands. Decided to leave as this was the absolute worst hotel experience of my life. Went to reception and said I am checking out to which the clerk simply replied ‘yes!’ I think he was really sad to see us leave eh!!!! Lol! Booked different hotel near beach so as not to ruin my daughters entire 18th birthday. Worked for Hilton so know what it is to receive quality service. No direct racism but the prejudice is very apparent here. Non whites you may not feel vey welcome here.

Very clean and great hotel. The lady at the front desk Agostina was very helpful and made sure my stay was great and helped out with any questions I had regarding what to do in the area. Also, newly renovated rooms which have a modern touch and great view over Palma

Lovely hotel for the price, check in was easy and the staff pleasant and helpful. I had a twin room which included a fridge, air con, and tv. You pay extra for the safe which was a 15 euro deposit and around 2 euros a day. The room and en-suite were clean and serviced every morning. The whole hotel seemed clean and tidy the pool was also clean and quiet so was easy to get a sun bed. The pool bar did great snacks chicken sandwich, chips, pizza and a great variety of drinks. Breakfast was 10 euros all you can eat and had a fantastic view over Palma. As others have mentioned it is on a steep hill but taxis are easy to get around Palma if that’s an issue for anyone. Views at night are amazing! Great hotel would really recommend maybe not set up so much for families tho.

Cockroach problem. Unprofessional staff both at reception and cafeteria. Many of the cleaning ladies are known to have mental health issues. Fire alarm goes off at all times. Bad smells come into the bathroom up the drains at various times of the day and night. Avoid!

Bad Service and our room had disfunctional accessories(broken bathroom flush, aircondition, fridge and a noisy balcony). I also asked the service if i could check in a day later and not have to pay for it, which i had a confirmation on, but still i had to pay for this and have not receieved my money back! They have not even answered me.

Just returned from city break holiday and normally choose our location from reading reviews but take some information with a pinch of salt. Overall got to agree its average/poor hotel. Room very basic, air conditioning very noisy, patio door lock had to be repaired the first day, shower good but bathroom unfinished, toilet not clean and floor not cleaned for our entire stay. Towels very old and discoloured and bedding old and only changed on our fourth day. No English tv channels and when asked reception staff was told they didn’t know if there was an English channel and to use Wi-Fi to download something. Reception staff should be more attentive as they are in the hospitality sector but we found only one male member of staff friendly and helpful. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis, some food items were undercooked, lots of small flies around the pastries and cups not very clean. The only positive point would be the view which was great. We used the large shopping centre for any food/drinks we needed about 10 minute walk. We walked into Palma centre which is good and takes about 35 minutes, there is a regular bus into centre from outside shopping centre.

Value for money spot on. Hotel looks a bit run down externally, but can’t fault anything within the hotel. Pool area great, poolside bar too. Can’t comment on food as did not eat. 40 min walk into Palma centre but we walked everyday with no issues. Hotel it self is very clean, air con worked fine. Room spacious and shower was powerful. Great view of the port from the balcony. The staff continued to surprise me, very friendly and always on hand to help with any issues and recommendations for food!! Although it’s slightly out the way, it’s less than 10 euro in a taxi, but the walk is fine. The shopping centre is 2 mins away and has plenty of restaurants anyways, but we opted to head in the main centre. Palma nova 15 mins in a taxi- 20€ so not much at all,. Highly recommend the hotel- cheapest we could find but overdone my expectations!

I was initially booked into the annexe but due to a small issue with ants, was moved with no hesitation … they can’t help ants invading !! The reception staff were lovely, apologetic and resolved the situation rapidly I moved to a beautiful room in main hotel with amazing views over the Port … watching the cruise ships come and go. The room was spotless with fridge, kettle and hairdryer. A lovely double shower with Amazon rain shower. Such a comfortable bed and great air con Pool area, again, spotless with plenty of sun beds … no rush at 10am to get a bed There is a beautiful terrace where you can watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee .. really amazing I didn’t have breakfast so no comment Snacks at pool were lovely Drinks a bit overpriced but there is a little shop across the road to stock up on water and snacks - there are also vending machines for late night snacks The location was probably the only disappointment… a good 45 min walk to Palma ! Followed by about 150 steps up to hotel - so defo not for people with walking difficulties Although … taxis are not too expensive ! The area is a bit run down but due to its elevated position the views are amazing !! Overall, I had a fantastic week at this hotel and actually glad the ants invaded my annexe room as my upgrade made it a much better experience than I would’ve had in my small annexe room There were 2 girls at reception who were particularly personable and kind … one young lady just kept asking me if I was living my best life …. She was bubbly, kind and always had a smile The gentlemen were less friendly with no effort of smiles or welcomes …. 😀

Ok overall… hotel room was clean, toilet was clean, bedding towels etc. Staff seemed fine. shower was incredibly damp and the water ran out of the ceiling whilst turning the shower head on. The shower head was also mouldy. Breakfast was okay especially if you like hot dogs for breakfast:) Otherwise does the job for a 3 star.

The Hotel Horizonte is seriously lacking curb appeal and is in a relatively run down looking area up from the cruise port outside of the main city centre. It’s a steep walk down the steps to get to nearest bars and restaurants as well as a shopping centre and supermarket (Portopi). — Despite all of this, it is a really lovely hotel and I had a most enjoyable stay. Looks are certainly deceiving, as the inside of the hotel is modern and spotlessly clean. Beds are extremely comfortable, with a large modern clean bathroom (waterfall shower) and towels changed each day of my stay, and a balcony with great views of the cruise port and the sea beyond (I was in a Superior sea view room). My room had a fridge, safety deposit box (4EUR per day I think) and air conditioning, and I honestly could not fault it at all. My only qualm was that the balcony door had a certain knack to locking it but I got there in the end. Cannot comment on the breakfast or food in the hotel as I didn’t have any, but I saw people eating from the pool bar and it looked good, and the menu was reasonably priced. The drinks here are good value too 4€ for a large beer (decent draught beer too) and they had an extensive cocktail and spirits menu too, all of which seemed well priced. I used this hotel as a base so didn’t use the pool facilities (only the pool bar on my last day after check out), but it looked spotlessly clean like the rest of the hotel, with a variety of Bali beds, couches and sun loungers. There always seemed space when I woke up and looked down from my balcony in the morning and the pool is a decent size too so plenty of room to do lengths if you wish. Seemed to get sun the whole day too. As lovely as the hotel is, there are some downsides: The area isn’t the nicest. It’s quite a way out of the city centre, and the road it sits on is a little bit run down. Some surrounding buildings seem to have had building work started which has since been abandoned, but I’m not sure as to the ins and outs of this, the area just needs a lot of TLC to bring it up to standard. There’s a small shop across the road which is fine for getting a cold drink or souvenir but has a limited selection of “supplies” for those that are room only. The cafe a few doors down from the shop is signposted and yet I did not see it open once. The closest restaurants and shops are left out of the hotel and down a steep set of stone steps (probably 250 steps) and then a quick walk down an almost vertical road and you find yourself at Portopi centre. This has some nice shops and eateries and some restaurants on the main road but none of these I can say looked appealing. Obviously this isn’t remotely practical as the walk back up is killer and to get the bus you’d need to go all the way back towards the city on the 4 bus (I think) and then back up to the top on the 46/47. I didn’t see many taxis in this area. Lastly, for me, this hotel doesn’t particularly work as a base for a Palma city break since the hotel is a 20+ minute bus journey to the city centre and despite what other reviews say, I’d conclude as not walkable at all. The 46/47 buses to/from Plaza Espana can be conveniently caught directly outside the hotel and at €2 per person per way they’re really good value for money and are air conditioned and modern. BUT - they do not really run to the advertised schedule it seems, with up to an hour between buses at certain points of the day I felt myself constantly on google maps checking bus times only to arrive at the bus stop to an hour wait for the next bus since it came and went early, or didn’t come at all. The timetables on the website don’t reflect the reality of the bus times. They finish about 10pm but the last buses are very busy. It was too full and did not stop on one night so I had to get a taxi. Taxis weren’t too expensive but very difficult to get one. People are virtually in competition at the side of the road, at who will wave the taxi driver down first. I called the taxi company a couple of times to request but it was a 45 minute wait before I ever got a taxi to come to me, and even then if someone else is waiting and has not booked/ requested one, they’ll try and hijack yours anyway. Going from hotel to the city is easier but getting back up to the hotel is a laborious task. Overall I would be sure to recommend Hotel Horizonte to anyone who is after a cheap bit of sun for a few days or longer on Mallorca. It’s pool area seems to be a good place to chill and relax. However if you are looking to visit Palma to take in the sites of the city, I would recommend booking something closer to the city centre (or within it) with better transport links. I spent a lot of time on this trip scheduling my day to the public transport, so staying closer to the main area will resolve this issue. I’ll definitely be back for a few relaxing low cost days in the sun, but my next visit to the city will be spent in another hotel.
