We spent 3 nights at Pensión Amaiur this week. It was our third visit to this pension and, as always, we had a wonderful stay. The family who run this pension go out of their way to make sure that guests’ needs are looked after. The room was comfortable, quiet and fitted out so that one’s belongings could be stored appropriately. The kitchen is available for all guests so that you can prepare your own meals and keep items cold in the fridge. Pensión Amaiur is also, in our opinion, a great value when compared to other local pensions. We can’t wait to visit again. Thanks for everything Marcelo.
A small simple hotel in a very old historic building. Although basic, it had everything we needed and a very comfortable bed. We had a room at the back which was quiet. When we booked it did say breakfast included - this is in fact a facility to make tea or coffee in the kitchen and there is cake. It now seems to have been clarified as tea/coffee making facilities on Expedia. However we were happy to go out for breakfast. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the super friendly staff, who all went out of their way to provide recommendations - some of which we followed and did not disappoint. Room was sufficient and had a lovely balcony overlooking the street - which was great being pedestrianised most of the time! A little annoying having to leave your room to go to the bathroom (but we did know this upon booking) and there was no air con - but we stayed in August and the fan was absolutely fine! If you have mobility issues there is a large staircase upon entry, but we enjoyed this due to having ate and drank so much in the surrounding gastronomic streets haha...! On that note, location couldn't have been better - there is no parking closeby due to the pedestrianisation of the old town, but we left our car at one of the city's park and ride car parks, jumping on a bus down to Boulevard 9. Hundreds of bars, restaurants, shops around and only a short walk to the harbour and beach. I felt like I'd gone back in time - I highly recommend Pension Amaiur to immerse yourself into the true San Sebastian!…
This hostel is in such a great location right in the heart of old town and amongst the famous Pinxtos area, you really do get the chance to immerse in the lifestyle we Loved it ! Pros - 1. Location - so close to the pinxtos bars and a short walk to the beach 2. It was very clean (especially the shared bathroom) and such a quaint building! 3. Friendly host always willing to help Cons - 1. No a/c - so if travelling in summer be prepared for fans and open windows - breeze is great The stairs aren’t as bad as I thought they would be based on others reviews ! And we managed to order a taxi to the front door in the early hours of the morning..but there are no cars at all other times. I travelled with a friend who is Vegan - not many options for food, however the venue directly across from this hostel has a vego option.…
We stayed in this pension for 3 nights during our time in San Sebastián. The location is perfect, right in the centre of the old town, next door to the church. There are multiple bars and restaurants on your door step and a short walk to the beach. We stayed in a front double room with a private external bathroom. This room had a gorgeous little terrace looking out on to the street with a table and chairs. The room was small, however as stated and sufficient. Everything about this pension was wonderful. In hindsight we should have booked somewhere with aircon, there is a fan. The other criticism is our double bed had 1 long pillow, instead of individual pillows on the bed. This made moving around in bed for my partner and I difficult.
