We wanted a hotel in central Bilbao with easy car-parking facilities at the end of our 4 week tour of northern Spain. This was ideal. Our room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the park with a view towards the mountains. We usually eat and take our breakfast out but it is worth paying extra for the breakfast here as...

We had been travelling 6 weeks in both hot and cold climates and my wife and I both had large heavy suitcases. When dropped at the entry to this hotel by the taxi from the airport and all I could see was a flight of steps from street to the entry and reception level with nothing but a steep ramp...

We arrived at 2 am in the morning to this hotel and the night portier was just golden in his way to welcome us! Room and service, just perfect! Breakfast very well assorted and very service minded staff. I'm sitting on the balcony on the 9th floor and just admiring the view of the park, mountain and the people below....

We stayed here for 3 nights in mid-June Minor complaints: Arrival was strange, front of hotel completely unmanned so no one to greet you. I understand porters are becoming a thing of the past with the popularity of the wheelie case but I think it would still be good to have someone around to welcome guests. At times our room...

3 not so good things: Reception was a little slow on checkout, the infinity pool doesnt get the sun & the bedroom had 2 singles instead of a double. All else was great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were adequate, bathroom had good toiletries. The bar and restaurant are excellent. Location is near to the bus...

After traveling through Spain during the month of June, this hotel has been the best ! We were offered an upgrade for 35 Euros at checkin, we are in a Grand Suite that has an amazing view and it is very spacious. Great location, great price and service is great ! Highly recommend it. The bed is very comfortable.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel is in an excellent location just a minutes walk from the Guggenheim museum and 15-20 minute walk to the main shopping street. Double room was nice, and quiet too. Fabulous bathroom. Found the bed and pillows slightly uncomfortable. No tea/coffee facilities in the room which is a big let down. Breakfast was very good...

The Melia chain is very popular in Spain, as it offers good quality hotels but at reasonably modest prices (at least by London standards!). The Bilbao Melia is no exception - fairly corporate but well located and overlooking both the river and some well kept gardens. The atrium sets the scene for a very modern hotel and is cool and...

We stayed at the Melia on a weekend trip with friends. It's a big plush hotel. It's very easy to get to from the airport (and I do recommend the airport bus, which is much cheaper than a taxi and almost as quick). It's also very handy for the new tram, which takes you right into town and the old...
