I have been at this hotel for business and pleased by the architecture, the comfort of the rooms and the breakfast buffet (very enjoyable). The hotel caters to business and to tourist crowds alike and it is an excellent solution for both purposes.
Great service from the moment you start checking in. Borja and Christian at the reception desk were super helpful, polite and friendly. They went the extra mile to attend all our requests and needs no matter what they were. Excellent hotel very close with great views and few steps from Guggenheim, will stay again when we come back to the amazing city of Bilbao.
If you are aware of your safety and comfort, you should not choose this Hotel. I was stuck in an elevator for almost one hour until I was rescued. The Hotel has two elevators and every day of my short three-day stay, one of the elevators broke down. To top it off, I stayed on a third floor and the access door to the emergency stairs was closed during the entire stay. No access to any exit except through the elevators. We cannot rest easy in a hotel that looks at security this way. And it's a pity, because in everything else, the Hotel is very good.
Fantastic hotel. Parking is underground and easy. There are 2x EV charge points run by Wenea. They were not working upon arrival but after a quick call all sorted. No1 is on the right, No 2 is on the left. Wenea numbers are London 02081249900 or Madrid 915 060 600. Hotel itself is very clean and modern, very relaxing and staff friendly. Pool is lovely,. Bar had good cocktails, wines and beers. We didn’t try the hotel restaurant but it looked good. Bedroom was spacious and clean. Plenty of room for luggage, big bathroom with shower, safe etc. bed and bowl left for our dogs (and there is a dog friendly park opposite). Best bit was the breakfast. Spanish breakfasts are among the best in the world and this hotel breakfast is among the best in Spain. Everything from a cooked breakfast with meats etc. through to fresh fruit, cheeses, cold meats, pastries, pickles, nuts and juices with plenty of coffee. I’d recommend for families and business travellers alike.…
Spacious clean and friendly. Great views from the room with everything we needed including bath and shower. Swimming pool on 5th floor Receptionist Larraitz extremely helpful. Parking under hotel secure. Great position to explore from. Breakfast amazing.
Restaurant full yet we are staying here. Cafe only. One steak had peppercorn sauce the other did not so i asked if i could have peppercorn sauce with the other steak. No was the answer!! They had the sauce but said chef wont put it with my sirloin steak. This is not a 5* hotel at all
Sorry but this hotel is tired and in desperate need of refurbishment. On arrival at a 5 star hotel I would expect help with our luggage especially as there are 7 steps to haul bags up to get to reception. We found the reception staff cold and not very knowledgeable, when we asked for advice on public transportation they had no idea !!!The air conditioning in the room made noise but didn’t lower the temperature. I rate the hotel 3.5 star max and suggest anyone visiting beautiful Bilbao stays elsewhere
Stayed 3 nights in early June. Nice central hotel, close to the Guggenheim (5-10 min walk) close to the river. Nice modern area. Staff are friendly. We had some issues with room we wanted not available, but they apologised and were super nice. Rooms are nice, but a little tired and my only real issue, just need a refurb. Pool is great for an urban hotel, gym good and facilities generally nice. Breakfast was good, and plenty of choices. I wanted to pick out a young man with learning difficulties who helped me at breakfast he was excellent - I applaud Melia for supporting him. Overall, it’s a great hotel, very central, but just a little tired and rooms could do with a refresh. We will be back
Great location but the room was horrible. The fridge was not plugged in we had to plug it in by taking the fridge out. The tv was not plugged in. The motorized blinds were out of their track and did not work. We had to fix it. We have two beds stuck together so you fall down the middle instead of one bed. And there’s a lot of damage in the room as the picture show. Very disappointing given the one in Lisbon was so nice.
From the moment we got there until we left the service was great. On arrival we were not able to park our car due to the roof box which meant it was too high for the underground guest parking, the gentleman behind the counter got us a parking spot and got us help in getting to and from it. Drinks in the bar were lovely. The room was clean and well equipped (although the bathroom internal door handle needs attention), breakfast in the morning was a good selection. No on request cooked options, however, there was scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon prepared but with the wide selection of fruit, hams and meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, juices, cereals, yoghurts we were well catered for. We can’t wait to come back!
