Traditional Spanish hotel in the centre of Gijon. Handy for all amenities and secure car parking at nearby underground garage (Jovellanos?) for a discounted 10 euros a night (usually 18 euros) when hotel staff give you a pass. All staff were professional, friendly and courteous. Room on 10th floor had excellent air con and a great view from the window... More

This hotel is five star in all but name.We were in the top floor suite. It had a wrap around balcony and one side gave a sea view. The twin beds were large and very comfortable. The air -con was lovely and so quiet you barely noticed it. We were welcomed by the very professional and friendly staff. The whole place is spotless and... More

Spent 12 nights in this hotel as we were in Gijon for the European Baseball championships. Hotel is centrally located with easy walking routes to bars restaurants and cafes. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Only bad thing was lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Highly recommend it

On arriving we had a very warm welcome. We had read some reviews that this was a slightly old fashioned hotel. Well, maybe I am old fashioned but we our loved our room. It was not one of the most expensive rooms which was on the tenth floor. We had a lobby and enjoyed the view over the city from... More

This is a nice classical hotel with honest pricing . Placed in the middle of everything, it has ample rooms with maybe old decoration and finishing but confortable. Excellent service. Very few minutes walking to the beautiful beach and the old city full of nice places for diner.

We spent two nights at this hotel while doing a trip in North Spain. The hotel is from the last century, and has kept style and design queues of the era, whil offering good comfort. Most impressive is the size of the rooms: for the price of a standard small room elsewhere, we got a suite with a separate sitting... More

We stayed for 3 nights on a family trip to Asturias. The room was perfectly sized for our family of 5 and very clean. We had a very comfortable stay. The staff was attentive and helpful and spoke English quite well. The breakfast was delicious and a great way to start off in Gijon. We will stay again next time... More

This is an old fashioned hotel, rooms are comfortable (beds are uncomfortables) and clean. It has a great location near to restaurants and shopping. They have free wi fi. Staff was helpful. We asked to order a pizza and didnt know they will charge the call.

Hotel was quite clean, but two out of fours beds in family suits were fold out beds and they were really uncomfortable. It was impossible to sleep with the open window because there were a lot of noise. Stuff spoke english poorly. The price was acceptable , althought the hotel was not 4 star hotel.

The Hernan Cortes hotel is a beautiful old world wood and leather hotel. Great breakfast and really helpful staff. Car parking a slight issue as it is available in a nearby facility but although discounted still an additional cost. With regard to Gijon itself and the whole Asturias area I would recommend it without reserve. You are transported to a... More
