I loved this hotel where I stayed 2 nights while walking the Camino de Santiago del Norte route. The reception staff are super. They speak good English and are cheerful and very helpful. The hotel seems fairly new or at least newly renovated. The lift was small but adequate. My room felt modern and clean. It had twin beds which is not my favourite configuration but I was willing to accept that to be able to book the second night at short notice. The bed was also a little firm for my taste. There was a small desk and chair and a closet that contained a safe. Natural light came from a large skylight. The bathroom was fairly standard with the shower over a tub. The wifi worked really well with a strong, stable signal. I had breakfast one morning and it was excellent and well worth the very reasonable cost. Lots of choices of bread and pastries, cereal, cheese, ham, fruit and jams plus tea and coffee. The restaurant also serves coffee and drinks during the day and has a few tables on the street. The hotel is right in the centre of the city making it easy to walk anywhere. It is obviously very popular as shown by it being full on my second night and rightly so. Highly recommended.

Having stayed in some very picturesque Hotels along the Camino trail, and having walked a huge distance to Gijon it was disappointing to see a "Soviet style" block building. Luckily upon entering the hospitality, cleanliness, of the Hotel was amazing. The room was very modern, spacious bathroom, with bath. We spent two nights here, great location, lots to do and see in Gijon - even in rain. We were there on a Saturday morning, breakfast is a long leisurely meal. We were disappointed on the Sunday not to be able to eat in, be aware that most of the surrounding bars etc are closed on a Sunday afternoon.

This is my highly subjective review as I found a kind of a place I really love and enjoy to stay at! It's a quite compact hotel located in one of the most vibrant and cheerful streets of already vivid Gijon. It doesn't offer much but it offers exactly what you need - extremely pleasant and positive people (especially lady at the reception desk and one of the bar ladies), the spacious and comfortable room, fine bed and decent breakfast with mostly local ingredients and elements. Everything is so near that you may reach anything needed in the downtown area in max. 10-minute walk; other places outside central zone are well connected by buses. Gijon was a big surprise for me all together, and the Santa Rosa hotel is truly excellent starting point for its exploration!

We enjoyed our two night stay at Hotel Santa Rosa. The location is very near restaurants and shopping. It is nice to walk around exploring the streets and alleyways. Our room was nice and clean but small. They served a good buffet breakfast of meats and cheeses, breads, fruit and yogurt.

We stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The best thing about this hotel was definitely its location. It is situated right in the heart of the old town of Gijon and is close to many bars, restaurants and shops. It is also very close to the promenade and the small harbour which were great for a wee stroll. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They dealt efficiently and quickly with any of our requests and made our stay a very relaxed one. The continental breakfast was good with plenty of choice and the dining room had a relaxed and welcoming ambience. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, our room didn't have a balcony or a very pleasant view but it was at the back of the hotel and was quiet as we had requested …except for one night when there was some noise from the residents opposite us. It was convenient to be able to park our hired car in the hotel's garage which was accessed via a lift. It was tricky initially getting the car into the lift and finding the hotel garage which was in a pedestrian precinct was also difficult as you had to cross a tiny square called the Plaza de Monte de Piedad. When we reached this small square we asked one of the locals where the hotel was and they were very helpful. I would stay in this hotel again as it was very good value and in a very good location.
