We loved this hotel in Seville. Beautifully restored old building (not sure what it was in prior life). Lovely Court yard where breakfast was serviced and where you could also get an evening cocktail. Great neighborhood location within walking distance of basically everything. We liked the feeling of being in a local neighborhood. Excellent staff throughout our stay. Nice rood deck and very small pool. It was warm during our visit so the pool area was full with other guests. I took a quick dip but returned to room as no place to sit. The staff was helpful especially as our original room was small and dark and they moved us to a lovely larger room at the front of the hotel.
Starting with location. Technically it is situated in the historical center of Sevilla, but it gives you direct access to absolutely nothing: neither sights, nor shopping, nor restaurants. To get to absolutely anywhere you’ll have to take a taxi spending time going in and out of a labyrinth of very charismatic, but incredibly narrow streets of old Sevilla. We are visiting this magic city several times per year since 2005 when we moved to the Peninsula and there are many hotels having much easier access. Unfortunately, our usual hotel has major renovation works ongoing (and we were informed about them), so we had to try some new ones. Not really a lucky choice this time. After being shown our room and entering the bathroom, one of the first things that I saw was a cockroach peacefully sitting in the bath. Not the biggest one that I saw in my life though - your average student dormitory size. :) Having a closer look around I saw many very small ones running around the bathroom floor on their business. Reception provided the anti-roach spray immediately – so they must know about the problem, a hotel being in the old building. I fumigated the bathroom properly before going out for dinner and haven’t seen a single live one till the end of our 2 nights stay. But if they know about the problem – then why it wasn’t possible to treat the bathroom well before our arrival? So that the smell could go away, the maids could have a possibility to clear the dead bodies and sparing us of the experience. But that wasn’t the main problem of the hotel. The main one is that the old building it is in has absolutely zero soundproofing. So, in your room you can hear every cough and sneeze, every chair being dragged, every door being opened and closed, every toilet being flushed. Of course, everyone has different habits and different schedules, so there will always be someone in the hotel, who either moves around too late or too early. Thus, you can forget about having a good night’s sleep. And then there are maids. This isn’t a problem of Las Casas del Rey only. In many places these fine ladies think that their job is what the hotel is actually about. And how could anyone be sleeping, while they are working?!! So, everything that can be dragged is dragged and everything that can be banged is banged. And the cleaning in Las Casas starts around 08:00 a.m. Finally - as if there were not enough disturbing factors – the building where Las Casas is in consists of 2 wings located perpendicularly. I don’t know whether the second wing belongs to the hotel. So, this second wings turned out to be under massive reconstruction works! We were staying 2 nights leaving 24th of December. And on this morning – finally we got lucky at least somewhere – the workers didn’t come. But on the 23rd they started at 07:30 a.m. with extremely welcoming sounds of angle grinders followed by hammers. Not the first time I come to some hotel having loud constructions works inside or right outside, but what I have seen till now was that all the hotels were making agreement with construction companies to start at 10 or even at 11 a.m. in order to minimize discomfort of the guests. Unfortunately comfort of the guests seem to be not one of the priorities of Las Casas. Also – in situations like this – there is always a dilemma. On one side very few to no hotels will close down for the time of construction works – especially, if the works are not related to the hotel itself. On the other hand the merchandise the hotels sell is rest of their clients. So, they take perfectly working credit cards of the guests and move absolutely valid money from these cards to their account. In return of course they provide you a room, a bed, a bath – but no proper rest due to amounts of noise these works generate. So, how fair is the deal for clients of these hotels coming and paying their money hoping to get some good rest being on vacation or on business? What to do then, already said that hotel can’t close for the time of the works? I have seen few honest hotels putting information on their site about works taking place and their schedule. And then everyone thinking of making a booking can make his or her own decision. In order to be fair: reception stuff at Casas del Rey is very helpful and service minded. We were granted a late check-out. We were offered to move to a Suite without extra-charge – not because of the cockroaches, it was discovered later, but because I said that our room looks much smaller than shown on their site. We refused because we unpacked completely by then and were late for dinner out. Everything we asked for: ventilator, extra towels, same anti-roach spray were all delivered without failure.…
I wasn't expecting too much from this hotel but booked it based on the reviews. It was great in every respect. All of the staff were great, very friendly and helpful. We opted for a deluxe room (40) and weren't disappointed. It was large, the bed was huge and very comfortable, the bathroom was big and the only complaint about that was that it could do with some ventilation ! One small criticism is that the room could have done with some more drawer space. It wasn't a big deal for us as we were only staying 4 nights. We didn't use the restaurant but did order room service on the terrace by the pool which was still open on a very sunny, warm December afternoon. The food was fine (the burger was massive) and left us both feeling stuffed. There is a lovely lounge with a real fire for after dinner drinks. The location, buried in the old town, was fantastic, a short walk from loads of interesting places. A WARNING if you are planning to drive there - the roads are VERY narrow ! We chose to do most of our sightseeing by walking using a great App called Vox City. We downloaded the Seville tours for £8.50 each and made great use of them. TIP: We waited until the last day to do the Hop-on/off bus tour. It might have been better to do it first as the ticket comes with some money off vouchers for various attractions. The bus tours can't do the old town so you'll need to do those on foot or bike. Two MUST SEE attractions are the Bull Ring and Plaza de Espana . Great hotel, great location. Recommend 100%.…
Absolutely wonderful stay at this gorgeous boutique hotel. A real gem close to all the sites in Seville. Complete luxury. We had a beautiful room with a massive bed which was so comfortable. Our bathroom was huge with a cavernous bath tub with rain shower. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The pool and terrace on the roof looked fantastic but as it was December we didn’t use them. When we return to Seville we will definitely stay here again.
Absolutely delightful boutique hotel in an excellent location. Great bedroom, beautiful courtyards and rooftop pool to relax by. Staff were all very welcoming and responsive. We had a lovely time here and can’t recommend it highly enough.
This was a riad style hotel. You could hear your neighbors talking. Slamming doors all night long. There were loud parties in the courtyard nearly every night we stayed. The only plus was the staff was amazing and very helpful. I would not stay again.
We wanted a central location... we wanted a hotel with character... we wanted a hotel with a good restaurant... we wanted wonderful staff... For our 7 night stay, we had all of these! Hospes las Casa del Ray de Baeza was perfect. Our room, a junior suite, was fabulous --- plenty of space to chill. If we didn't wish to be in our room, we sat in one of the two main courtyards (there are others) or went up to the roof to sit by the pool. The food was excellent: we had delicious dinners in the restaurant and of course we enjoyed the breakfasts too. There is no bar within the hotel but we were able to order wine as we wished. Up on the roof terrace, there is a bar. Other guests were mostly American ('doing Spain in 10 days'), British, German and French. Above all, it was the staff who made our stay so special. A huge thank you to them. Will we stay here again? We would not consider anywhere else if we return to Seville.…
We stayed here two nights as an en route stopover on our way to Gaucin . We drove our car into the quiet little courtyard in a central part of the old town and were met by very friendly staff who efficiently and in a very friendly way, relaxed us into the hotel and parked our car in an effortless yet effectual manner. We were upgraded ( which is very rare for us) to a delightful and spacious suite on the first floor overlooking both the inner courtyard on one side and the quite little square that we arrived into, on the other side. Perfect accommodation. We dined both nights in their restaurant and the food was delightful and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was equally good and the service efficient and friendly. The lounge spaces were tastefully decorated and furnished and spacious. The “Hospes” trademark style was all over this impressive building and reconfirmed our commitment to staying in them whenever we can.…
This is a fabulous hotel tucked away in the narrow streets of Seville. The entrance opens out onto 2 inner courtyards which are beautiful! I requested a walk in shower due to a broken foot and was given a lovely room on the ground floor which was very comfortable and met all my needs. The restaurant served great food and there was a tapas and lighter menu for the courtyards, all really good. The staff are brilliant! Polite and helpful, we especially appreciated our waitress Nathalie who was very attentive. The pool and seating area on the roof was especially nice, we could order drinks and snacks from there easily. Highly recommended for a break in Seville!
Relaxing pool, delightful space, warm welcome and delicious food. I wish we could have stayed longer, and we were there for 5 nights. Cannot recommend it enough. Beautiful courtyard. My favorite space was the rooftop bar and pool area. Can’t wait to return!
