Centrally situated close to the river and local historical sites, the Hotel Colon Gran Melia is such a beautiful friendly and welcoming place to visit. It retains some of the original features of the former Majestic Hotel built for the Exposición Iberoamericana, hosted in Seville in 1929. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious with excellent air conditioning. A novel feature in our room was a room view of the bathroom which was hidden by a curtain for privacy! There is a small roof-top pool overlooking the city and a great place to cool down after a day pounding the streets. There is an on-site restaurant which doubles as the breakfast room in the mornings. A selection of fresh, hot and cold meals are served daily with yoghurts, fruits and meat and cheese plus pastries and traditional cakes. I can't think of any downsides to our visit and I am sure if you visit you will agree. when you arrive back at the end of the day you really do feel like you've come home!

Dear Ardnaxela, Thank you for the time you have taken to share your comments with us on TripAdvisor. It is truly a pleasure to know that you enjoyed a wonderful time with us at Hotel Colón, and that you took advantage of our great location to explore the city of Seville. The views are something we are very proud of and it pleases us to hear you have enjoyed the view from our refreshing boutique swimming pool. We are delighted to know that our facilities were to your liking; especially our newly reformed hotel lobby, filed with history, memories and stories of famous people who had the luck to stay here. This summer we start with the remodeling of our Suites and hope to bring the same kind of magic into every room of the hotel. Our team is truly glad to know that their daily dedication to provide our guests with unique experiences did make a positive difference in your stay. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and make your next stay as perfect as it can be. Warm regards from Seville, Guest Experience Department

This is a wonderful five star hotel well located and efficiently managed. We only had one night to stay. We arrived around 20:00, had a really efficient check in process at which we were upgraded to a Red Level Room with a view to the Cathedral which was very sweet and confortable. It was not a huge room but I loved the decor with the parts of spanish most important paintings on the doors and the well decorated bathrooms. We had only a few minutes to enjoy at the small pool on the rooftop and took them to enjoy a bit of the sunset. There was no service or place to get a towel which is something that alegedly can happen on a 5 star hotel but you would not expect from a LHW. Anyway, it was not a big deal because it is true we were there the last 20 minutes they were open. I do have to say that, otherwise, they did make sure the room covered all the preferences I have stated at my LHW profile. In that sense, I felt better taken care of than other LHW properties. Breakfast buffet in the morning was fantastic at the ground floor although I think the hotel should look into improving the quality of the a la carte menu. The personnel was wonderful, attentive and helpful at all times we interacted. Overall a really nice experience but you always expect a bit more from a LHW although we could easily choose it again.

We hopehte incident with the towels did not suppose any inconvenience for you, we are having very high temperatures that are unusual for this term of the year that makes the demand for the swimming pool increase. Thanks to you contributions we are making efforts to keep towels ready at the wellness area despite the high demand at the pool area. We hope to welcome you back if you decide to visit Seville again and surprise you with new options for our a la carte breakfast. Guest Experiecnce Team.

After two days spent in Malaga in a very well-run hotel (see previous review), we were looking forward to spending two nights in a suite booked at the Gran Colon. Upon arrival, we were a bit surprised by the location: nothing special! Check-in was supposed to be "VIP", but ended up to take 15' (phone interruptions, time spent on the computer, etc). When the employee finally proudly said" my colleague will show you your room" and we reached the elevator, I asked whether he had the room keys: They had forgotten! As for the room, it was quite large, with a separate dining corner and a separate living room. The furniture is a bit "cold". The bedroom is quite small, but with a large and comfortable bed. The bathroom (no seperate restroom for such an expensive suite) was nothing special. Air-conditioning is good. There is a huge terrasse, but the view is absolutely not spectacular. The jacuzzi was working and quite nice, space for two (comfortable) up to 4 (squeezed). We were also very disappointed by the "red lounge": cold atmosphere, good selection of drinks but poor offer in terms of snacks. Breakfast is served on the ground floor, on very small tables (for 2). Staff is running around inefficiently . It takes time to get your order taken and nothing gets taken away. The buffet is ok, but nothing to compare with other 5 star hotels. There is a (very little) fitness center on the 7th floor, and an equally small swimming-pool which is not very appealing. The valet parking was quite efficient and the concierge really helpful It was not bad per say but by far not worth the price

At Hotel Colón all our associates strive to deliver genuine and friendly service as guest satisfaction is important to all of us, apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment caused in relation to your check-in experience as it was certainly not our intention. Rest assure your feedback has been shared with our Front Office Leadership Team to look at ways of improving the procedure as we certainly appreciate the opportunity to enhance our overall guest experience. With regards to all incidences pointed out on your review, you had a less than a favorable experience. This encountered situation is truly unusual. Nevertheless, we forwarded your notes to our executive team to check it out and discuss your experience. We also regret to learn that you were not satisfied with our facilities on the rooftop. We would like to explain that Hotel Colón, as a historic building has to respect its original structures and so, adapt it to different guests needs. On a more possitive issue, we are glad to learn that the room and jacuzzi made of your stay an enjoyable one. Regarding our staff, thank you for your nice comment, our valet parking and concierge associates will be encouraged by your praise. We should like to close by saying that we are deeply disappointed to have ignored your discontent and not been able to meet you personally since we could have tried to better clarify everything. I stayed here as part of a luxury tour of Southern Spain that booked the best hotels in each city. This is a Leading Hotels member so you cannot go wrong. It was in a great location and had all the expected amenities for a top class luxury hotel. Everything is within walking distance so it is great for travelers who want comfort and who want to see everything but do not have much time. I liked that this hotel had a classical feel, especially as so many other luxury hotels these days are trending towards minimalism and beige interiors. My only beef is that housekeeping was not up to par with the rest of the hotel. The turn down service missed a few things which I do not expect to happen at a Leading Hotels.

Dear davisX499QF, Thank you so much for your amazing review of Hotel Colón. We are happy you enjoyed our excellent location downtown Seville and the surrounding areas. We understand the importance of the details that make up a great stay and we are happy knowing our comfortable accommodation and historical values enhanced your visit. It would have been of great importance to have had more details regarding the lack of service you encountered in the turn down service, anyway, your valued comments have been shared with our housekeeping Supervisor to ensure that our high standards are being uniformly applied for the enjoyment and comfort of our guests. We sincerely hope that your overall experience in Seville turned out to be a marvelous adventure, and hope that we may have the chance to welcome you in the near future. This was my second stay at the Hotel Colon Gran Melia. I love it for its location, helpful professional staff and its stylish ambiance. The hotel has improved drastically since my last stay in 2012: the lobby, reception and restaurants have been remodeled and updated, making them more inviting and welcoming, and providing more space for dining and entertainment. The entire staff was so friendly, helpful, professional and accommodating. The concierge made great suggestions for walking tours, organised tours and restaurants. They had a beautiful breakfast buffet and the bar was fun in the evenings, with a great selection of live entertainment. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet.

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights in April 2022. We used points to stay here and as a result, I think we were given a room without a view- facing the inside of the hotel, looking into the hotel office and other hotel rooms. In spite of the lack of view, the hotel was beautiful and comfortable. Our room rate included breakfast at the hotel, which I highly recommend. Room: Supreme Family room- This room has 2 beds- I think each bed was a double bed, so a bit tight for 2 adults in one bed, but you can make it work. Baby cots are not permitted in the supreme family room simply because there isn’t enough room for it. The mattress and pillows are very comfortable. There is turn down service and very soft slippers given. We were on the 2nd floor for 1 night, and the 5th floor for the other 3 nights. Each door has an image of a painting on it, and was framed, and was really lovely to enter. Bathroom: The bathroom has double sink, and a glass door separating the toilet and bidet. There is a white curtain to separate the bathtub from the bedroom- so perhaps this isn’t a room for modest people. I was glad to be here with my spouse and young children as opposed to friends or elderly parents. The water pressure and temperature in the bathtub/shower head are great. The bidet is very useful with good water temperature. The lighting in the bathroom is very nice as well. And there is a pocket door to close off the bathroom from the bedroom. Breakfast: The hotel offers breakfast on the ground floor restaurant and there is a beautiful spread of fresh fruits (fresh pineapple, papaya, watermelon, melon, kiwi, oranges etc), 4 types of freshly sliced bread, meats, cheeses, pastries, honeycomb, cereals, and you can order items off of the menu with eggs which is included in the hotel breakfast rate. Bar: The bar on the ground level is beautiful with the colored dome ceiling. I’m not sure if it’s true stained glass or just made to look like stained glass, but either way, it’s lovely. The seating area around the bar is very handsome as well. There are many shops and restaurants within walking distance of Hotel Colon Gran Melia. I would absolutely stay here again if I had the resources.

Our team's primary mission is to make sure our guests feel as if they we're right at home, so we are happy to have fulfilled your expectations. As a final note, our beautiful dome made of stained glass, is dated back to 1929. It is one of the oldest feature in the Lobby. We are delighted to have met your expectations and look forward having you as a return guest. Warmest regards, Guest Experience Team.

Just spent a few days at this excellent hotel situated close to the cathedral. It is an old hotel with great history and the bullfighters still change at the hotel before the fights. We found the staff excellent and would recommend the red level which gives access to all day snacks and drinks. Breakfast was buffet plus Al La carte and again looked and tasted excellent. Our only minor comment was that you have to go up a step to get to a rather inaccessible shower. However this is minor against all the pluses of a very fine hotel. A special mention among many to the doorman Santiago always friendly and helpful

Best hotel from our 3-city Spain trip. The hotel is fairly conveniently located and close to major attractions (10-15 min walk) and on a nice street. Walking distance to a number of restaurants and shops. Our family room was huge and very nicely decorated. The larger suite was great and had a big sitting room. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms very convenient. Cool lighting throughout. Everything was as close to perfect as a hotel can get. Service was also very good. The lobby is beautiful. The rooftop pool was very nice, but the water was very hot, which did not help on a hot day. Our breakfast was included (only hotel out of three) and was pretty good. While the buffet was very limited, we could order other items from the menu. Definitely highly recommend this hotel if you are going to Seville.

I disagree with some of the comments made by other reviewers, but first I should say this is a very comfortable hotel in a good location, with some excellent staff. Staff in large urban hotels, even 5-star ones, often seem distracted or too busy to help much, but not here. Oskar the concierge and Maria at the front desk stood out, but everyone was friendly and highly capable, including the cleaners. I was offered an upgrade, at a moderate price and less than that advertised, to a larger Red Level room on arrival. This proved a good move as access to the lounge was useful and our “small” suite was big enough for the children to play hide-and-seek in. The only slight disappointment was breakfast: apart from the fruit, this did not meet the expectations generated by the bulk of the reviews below. The spread in the Red Level area generally did not taste as good as it looked, and the cooked breakfast options were inferior to what I have encountered in most other European five-star hotels. And anyone expecting artisan coffee will be sorely disappointed. On the location, a few reviewers seem to have suggested the hotel is based in a rundown, even dangerous, area. This is a frankly baffling characterisation, and I can only imagine those reviewers have misidentified the hotel. The area feels prosperous and safe. I did not spot anyone who looked even faintly criminal anywhere in the whole of Seville during the six days I spent there. There are some useful restaurants nearby and a stellar artisan gelateria called Creeme, opposite the Fine Arts Museum, where the staff are lovely.

The reception at this hotel is quite stuffy - almost as if they are doing you a favour by allowing you to stay, rather than vice versa. It is however, a lovely Hotel. Had an issue with the booking app (the Melia app), and no redress or apology offered. Slightly disappointing. Breakfast, however, was great.
