The Good The best located hotel in Seville I'd say. Outside the crowded tourist traps but very close to everything. Immaculately clean with helpful and charming staff & a memorably brilliant check in, the building is elegant and beautiful . We had a red level terrace room and were there for five nights. It was very small for that amount of time and quite dark as the terrace has high walls. However it was lovely in the afternoons to move the chairs in to the rays of March sunshine - a tonic after a gloomy winter in the UK. Breakfast was generous & the waiting staff were charming and professional. We absolutely adored Seville and long to return again. Seville itself is awash with beautiful buildings, great tapas restaurants, stylish shops & charming locals. The Less Good The bathroom was badly designed & in a glass box within the room itself. The bath & shower was accessed by a dangerous step and you had to climb inside to turn on the shower itself. Would be a a nightmare for those with mobility issues. The room was too small and cramped for five nights with two of us and there was hardly any drawer space. It was dark being on the first floor with a high walled terrace. The housekeeping, although exemplary at the start of our stay descended to nothing by the end and we had to ask for our room to be made up. The beautiful rooftop terrace is tiny and has only four sun loungers and a small knee depth pool/water feature which looks good on instagram but is not for swimming. I was very lucky to get a sun lounger on one afternoon but I imagine that it is mostly impossible to get one. Would we stay again? I am not sure.. maybe if for a shorter stay and then head to the countryside or coast for a few days.. If we could find somewhere with a beautiful view and outside balcony and normal bathroom, then we would go for that. We almost booked the Alfonso, but having visited it during this stay, I wouldn't go there I don't think. …
This hotel is in the perfect location, we decided on the red level room which give you access to a vip lounge with free drinks and snacks well worth the extra cost. The staff are friendly and very professional from reception to the doorman, it’s a must visit hotel
We have just had 3 nights here. The staff are welcoming and helpful, especially the concierge- Rosana- who managed to help us book tickets for the real alcazar when we thought we had missed out! Breakfast is varied and large, the red level is definitely worth it as the lounge is lovely and the light snacks repeatedly restocked. Our room was very comfortable. The only thing that wasn’t ideal is that the housekeepers cupboard was just outside our door and so we were woken every day by her. Not her fault but a poor design. Room 621
Our stay at the Colon Gran Melia was perfect from start to finish. The welcome at check-in (eased by a glass of cava) was excellent as was the tour of the facilities and then being shown our room. It set the tone for the whole stay! We went for a Red Level room which gives access to the Red Level breakfast and lounge. The lounge was AMAZING - a comfortable oasis with generous drinks and snacks available. The Red Level breakfast was also very nice indeed in a spacious dining area with a decent range of cheese, meat, fruit, juices as well as cooked options. I would absolutely recommend going for a Red Level room. The room itself was very comfortable with an ENORMOUS double bed. My only criticism would be that it only had a shower over the bath rather than a walk-in shower, but the power of the shower made up for that minor niggle. The room was immaculately kept and had everything you'd expect in a hotel of this standard. We also used the roof-top plunge pool (not really one for doing lengths in, but perfectly adequate for enjoying the winter sun) as well as the sauna and steam room, both of which were also excellent. There is also a small terrace on the roof and a gym which is very cardio focused with several decent machines, but little in the way of weights. The location is good with the Cathedral and Alcazar about 10/15 minutes walk away. Transfer from the airport was about 20/25 minutes by taxi. We also found it fine getting Ubers in Seville. Finally, the service could not be faulted with everyone we dealt with being only too happy to help. My only regret is that I forgot to take my "do not disturb" sign off during the first day and so my birthday bottle of cava and cake only arrived in the early evening. That was a lovely touch though. Overall highly recommended and would definitely visit again.…
Its was a great and biutiful experience for our wedding birthday , they offer us champaign and the personnel is very welcoming A real thanks to Ana who is very empathic and smiling when you arrive ; we recommand you and we'll come back soon
We just returned from a wonderful 6 night stay at Hotel Colon and we endorse all of the positive comments made by other reviewers: this was one of the best hotel experiences we have had in our many trips in Europe and beyond! The friendly professional staff set the tone, from Jorge who bounded out of the hotel to greet us with a big smile, to Isabella at reception for her genuine welcome, and Rosanna on the Concierge desk who gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and took time to sort out our train tickets to Cordoba ( a must do day trip!). The staff at the breakfast area were always helpful and cheerful, with prompt service. The breakfast is excellent, a nice mix of buffet and cooked choices ( Red level). Our room was of the highest quality: comfortable, clean, all that you need in the bathroom, and the cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. Nice view of the rooftops from the top floor outside area. Lovely decor from the bar and restaurant area to the art on the room doors. A top stay!…
Well, what can I say. From the magnificent greeting we received on arrival by Milos on the stairway to the smooth check-in whilst sipping a lovely glass of cava, the moment you enter this hotel you know you’ve arrived. The signature scent that flows throughout the reception and beyond is lush. Once checked in, we had a brief tour before grabbing some nibbles and drinks from the red level. Our room was cool and on the top floor which gave way to beautiful views of the cathedral with very little noise from the streets below. The room was clean and spacious however my only niggle would be the step into the shower due to the bath, I would remove the bath for room and less hazards. The spa and boutique pool are also on the top floor and although a larger pool would have been great, we now know the restrictions as to why. The restaurant was lovely with a few dishes with that extra twist. Only negative is the loss of my pyjamas when the bed was stripped, hopefully these will be sent to me. The hotel is fabulous and steeped in history, the red level is very good value and the location is perfect. A must stay if you ask me. Milos is fabulous by the way 🙏…
In short: Mattress - 0 Breakfast - 2 (only because of overwhelmed and overworked waitresses). Coffee - 0 (one would expect much better coffee ) Here is why: - Old and worn-out or defective mattress with a hole made my back really miserable. It took me a few days to figure out that mattress was to blame. First, after a few complaints, they changed a mattress topper and that new thing was stinking terribly the entire night! Then, after additional complaints, they suggested to move us to another room, without any sun and with a terrible view at a small courtyard. I said no. Then, after I had to explain (several times) that it would be easier for them to replace the mattress than for me to waste a half of my day moving, they did bring allegedly new mattress. Unfortunately, after a night of relatively nice sleep, the problem replicated: That "new" mattress had a hole too!!! Then, they suggested to bring brand new mattress and I figured out that they have no idea that new mattresses need at least 24 hours to air out and stop stinking. So, I decided to sleep at the bottom of the bed for the last few days there, to look for my chiropractor as soon as i get home, and to write this review! - Breakfast is not at all up to ratings of this hotel: Most days there was a line to get a table. The line was close to the main entrance and was often cold and drafty standing there. Later, I learned there are two classes of guests there (red level and not red level) with different treatment and breakfast rooms but that's another story. After getting a table, I had often to use my napkin to remove sticking remnants of whatever chemical they used to wipe after previous guests. Often, I had to remove crumbs and other food remnants from chairs! The buffet breakfast was very limited: Cold cuts, some cheeses and fruit, cereals and several types of (puff) pastry. NOT any veggies (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, etc...) there!!! In the bread section, there were something called guacamole (completely blended in some kind of almost runny cream and something like tomato pellat. Only during the first days of our stay smoked salmon (not of great quality) and some capers and onions were offered. Then, they simply disappeared!? The most hot items and coffee/tea had to be ordered separately and waitresses were simply overhelmed running around to kitchen and back, cleaning and setting tables, bringing coffee refills, etc. Plus, many guest needed help with using QR code instead of printed menu! In spite of being really overworked, most of the servers never stopped smiling and being pleasant. I have to mention that a few of scrambled eggs I ordered were probably the worst I ever had: Not really scrambled but just stirred once or twice, overcooked with some brownish/black ends. Wisely, I started ordering fried eggs as not much can go wrong with them. Finally, coffee quality is, mildly said, not high. I think somebody there should learn that espresso requires good arabica (robusta can also do) and should not be acidic, and that filter coffee they serve should NOT be often transparent like tea! Finally, must say that the only good thing about this hotel, apart from its location, is its most of the staff and, only because of them, my rating is not worse! Finally, lets mention that I was not given option to book the red level accommodation when i made my reservation. If the options were offerred and explained, a lot of confusion would be avoided.…
We’ve just had a very comfortable stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and located in a quiet area of the hotel as we requested. The staff were very friendly and helpful from the cleaning staff to the staff overseeing breakfast. Ana , the concierge was so helpful sorting out train tickets for a trip to Cadiz as well as sourcing vegetarian friendly restaurants in Seville. Many thanks to everyone there for making it a lovely weekend break.
This is an outstanding hotel. Excellent room. Very good breakfast. Completely charming and very helpful staff. Great location within walking distance and cathedral and centre of city. We hope to be able to return to Seville and when we do would definitely choose this delightful hotel.
