Since 2013 during our summer holidays we have stayed in many different NH Hotels in Spain, often (but not exclusively) of the "Collection" brand: in Bilbao, Salamanca, Burgos, Zamora, Trujilo (when it was NH), etc. We came back to the NH simply because we enjoyed them and found them of good value for the money. With this experience, and after a three-night stay at the NH Collection Victoria, I think this hotel is clearly below other NH Collection hotels of Spain and doesn't really deserve its "Collection" label. It’s not a bad hotel of course but when you pay the price of a Collection hotel you expect more than the service of a regular non-Collection NH hotel. What was disappointing: - The car park is a public one, not a private one. There is a direct access to the hotel but no reserved lots nor a discount price. Besides it’s not convenient as entry and exit are the same and some drivers tend to do whatever they want when driving inside. As a rule, parking downtown is often tricky in Spain but with a Collection should come a good car park. - We had two (similar) rooms and one was occupied by our children. For some reasons, their room never got the free bottle of water we had every day in our room and their coffee tray had been removed. Why? This seems stingy. - The rooms were OK but not very impressive, particularly as opposed to very large rooms we got in other NH Collection hotels. They looked more like slightly bigger rooms of regular NH hotels. They were also showing their age, for instance the A/C panel or the fact that the smoke detector in our room flapped. Besides the bed lights were useless to read. - The lady at the reception was not professional when we arrived. One window of our car had been smashed while on the way to Granada (that happens, beware on the autovia along the eastern coast) and it wasn’t funny to deal with that, particularly as I had to remove absolutely everything from our car. The receptionist didn’t care at all, she never showed any empathy and was obsessed by the formalities (passport scans). I had to explain her that we would do this AFTER I had emptied out our car. - We knew that during Covid time, breakfast wouldn’t be as smooth as usual but what we love at NH Collection are breakfasts – actually the best we ever had in an hotel where at NH Collection Bilbao and Burgos a few years ago. However clearly management took Covid as a good opportunity to drastically reduce the quality of the breakfast: much less choice, no small tapas, nothing special… and even the Iberico tasted rather plain (as opposed to others we had at NH Collection!). The good: - Very convenient location, - During breakfast, staff were very nice and doing their best. To sum up, my feeling is that NH Victoria benefits from its location in a very touristic town and NH management doesn’t invest in it as it should. It’s a weak link in the Collection brand.…
This is a premium hotel with exquisite arrangements. The grand entrance and welcoming staff ensure you will have a nice stay. The reception and check-in process is seamless and professional. The rooms are elegant with fine decor and spa-like bathrooms. The beds are perfect for a good sleep. The rooms can get hot without air conditioning. In our room, the air conditioning unit was adjacent to the pillows meaning it often disturbed sleep. We could not get the temperature right and leaving it off was not a good option. Apart from this slight design issue, it could not be faulted for service and decor. A high-class hotel for a luxury stay in the centre of Granada.
We booked the NH Granada Victoria because of its central location, on-site parking and in room coffee/tea making facilities. The location really is fantastic, the parking ok (although a bit tricky to find and an extra €20,50 per day). There wasn’t a coffee machine in the room but a call to reception and it appeared within minutes. Only provided two coffee pods and one was decaf. A bit mean really. We did have some late night noise from the street, but nothing too disturbing for us. If you’re a really light sleeper it may be an issue. The beds were super comfortable, the bathroom spacious and everything really clean. Overall, good value.
After careful research on TA back in January we had booked this hotel along with flights and other hotels for a week in Andalusia in October. We had paid in full in advance which did not allow cancellation. Covid then happened. Our flights were cancelled by our airline a few days ago. I emailed the hotel on the off chance they would be kind to us. They were. Email answered next day, asked for some proof and got a full refund for the two rooms we had booked within two days. Excellent service during his difficult time and when travel becomes possible again we will retry our Andalucia trip and will re book with this hotel and will consider this chain of hotels for other places.
The hotel staff was professional and helpful. The hotel's common spaces and our room was very clean. Our bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was sufficient and satisfying. The hotel's underground parking has limited spaces, so it could be an issue. We will return.
