I read Trip Adviser reviews (between the lines on occasions!) and did the same for the Arcos. It is often fully booked, which says a lot, but we decided a week in February would be an escape from the UK gloom. The minute I walked in I felt relaxed. The reception staff we met during the week were all genuinely friendly and interested in how your day had been. A kettle was provided instantly on request, help with the air con, straight away. So it went on for the week. Service was 5 Star throughout. All the staff worked as a team, and clearly enjoyed their jobs. I'm hopeless at names so will just say the two girls behind the bar, delightful, the chap the same. Created a nice atmosphere in the bar area. Breakfast was busy, the staff worked non stop replenishing food. Again all very relaxed, you could overflow into the bar area, and outside if the weather allowed. Nice to chat to Susannah.
We relaxed by the pool one afternoon. Peaceful, it's not a huge area but I'm sure folks don't reserve beds unless they are actually using them. We had a room on the front, overlooking the outdoor seating. It was huge, with a very large balcony. The road outside is not a main road, very quiet at night. It had a bigger than king size bed and a single and a decent bathroom. Yes, the decor is dark wood and dark tiles, its not Boutique, but the bed was blissfully comfortable with a decent mattress topper. Bedding and towels were very clean. Room service good.
We know Torremolinos and crossed the road, down a road and on the pedestrianised promenade, mid way between the hheadland onthe left round to the steps up to Torremolinos town, and right to the harbour and onward to Benalmadena. All a delightful walk with plenty of shops/cafes/restaurants. It was February so folks were out eating early as nippy in the evenings. We chose to eat at the hotel three of the nights after long walks. The bar menu is the right mix to suit everybody, the pizzas are delicious. Sit in the bar or staff set a table up in the breakfast area for more room. Happy hour is wonderful and a chance to chat to other like minded guests. It was lovely to see Spanish families staying at the weekend. They know value! I don't review all the hotels we go to, but The Arcos is just special. We will return. Thank you to Everyone.

I was happy with most of the hotel and staff. Cleaner very good hard working. Breakfast was plentiful and replaced. No salt pots for a restaurant and boiled eggs once missing for rest of week. Tissue napkin boxes on tables empty. Good for people late arrivals for those who could not make the 10.15am cut off after the end service. No problem.
The main reason why my review is good is due to one staff member who did everything to make things right. Jose was helpful Switching my room from a really dark no sun at the rear to front facing. BUT The bad bit is The BAR having a drink in the bar is like being in a class room and being told off. Another couple night before same experience. SHHH susshh was ordered by the bar man and the man on night desk. The couple were just talking it was 6pm and the bar is all marble with nothis to absorb noise. Just move a chair sounds like thunder clapping and as a large room so echoing the sounds and no absorbing of voices but that's not our fault as guests. They put a happy hour on 6 till 7 but we re named it unhappy hour. It was a real down point for us and our stay. Being older 64 & 60 we like to get back to our hotel so were not out late at night say onwards of 9pm and so to have a drink in the hotel bar is important for our stay. We boycotted because it was just too much and ridiculous. Strangely when the Spanish men were sat talking in the bar one night as we arrived through reception it was loud and we could honestly say louder than we had been. Borja on night desk was unhappy in particular and told us we were loud but he did not reprimand or order silence to his Spanish guests !!
I always give honest reviews if you look at my other ones I try to be objective and informative. My review of this hotel was positive mostly if the bar experience is removed but as that is what we need for a stay! It's a real shame.

A fabulous little hotel my wife and I arrived for a 9 day holiday well it was our Honeymoon we arrived very early and our room was ready! Jose on reception and was friendly and dealt with us professionally and explained the precautions re Covid. Our room was clean and had lots of wardrobe and draw space television, safe air con and free WiFi
we asked for more pillows and received them 20 mins later.
Our first morning we went down to Breakfast and were met by Sergio who ran us through the Covid precautions before we went into breakfast. we were expecting the usual continental breakfast but were pleasantly surprised with the selection of hot and cold food on display the quality was superb. The hotel is a short walk from the beach front and has a small pool is very clean and has hand sanitation at exits and entrances including the lifts on all floors. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful from the Housekeeper to the lovely Lady who ran the kitchen and oversaw the breakfast Jose and Sergio are very approachable and treat you like a friend and not just a client. We had a really fantastic stay and will be booking to go again as soon as this Corona virus has settled down but on saying that we felt so much safer in and outside the hotel than we do at home everybody wears masks and hand sanitation is paramount all over the resort.
Thank you to Sergio,Jose and all the rest of the hotel staff for a very pleasurable experience.
Hope to see you all again very soon

The amount of money I paid for the room reservation was quite low, meaning that the ratio price/quality was quite high. The hotel is not far from the beach. The staff is friendly and the variety and quality of food in the breakfast could difficulty be better (considering the price you pay). For sure, I’ll repeat the experience. Enjoy!

We chose this smaller hotel based on the reviews and we felt we would feel safer, (in view of Covid), than in a larger one. We were delighted with our choice.
From arrival all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I'd emailed ahead regarding room preferences and was given exactly as requested.
The room was very clean, spacious, and had a very comfortable bed and pillows. Essential toiletries were provided and the water pressure was amazing with as much hot as you wanted! The TV had loads of English channels.
The pool is in a lovely quiet spot surrounded by a grassed area. Although we had fantastic weather for February, we didn't use the pool but lounged around it.
The breakfast offering was very comprehensive with lots of choice both hot and cold. The bar served snacks such as pizzas, toasties, burgers, and salads which were good value for money and handy when we didn't want to go out.
The position of the hotel is on a fairly busy road but although we were at the front we weren't bothered by noise. It was around a 5 minute walk down to the seafront with cafes and shops. And about midway between Torremolinos and Benalmadena.
Montemar train station is around 15 min walk (uphill) or there's bus stops outside the hotel for travelling to other areas.
There's a Lidl supermarket about 5 mins up the road which is handy for cheap water etc.
Back to the lovely friendly staff.......they were happy to print out locator forms and offered us an early breakfast when we had to depart. So kind. Thank you.

No doubt about it, this is a decent budget hotel. Really helpful, friendly hard working staff.

Clean rooms, large bed. TV with lots of UK channels. Aircon worked fine. Really good shower, plenty of hot water.
If you get a room that is close to the lift/stairway it could be noisy with people passing.

Breakfast is decent when you can get a clean table.
When the hotel is busy you can struggle to get a table at breakfast. Several mornings none were available for use ☹ (all being used or they still had dirty plates from previous users). At times no clean cutlery, plates or coffee cups.
The staff do try really hard to keep on top of it but you need to be a little patient at times.

Hotel is in a good location, not too far from beach, bars and restaurants. It is on a busy road, you can catch a bus to most places from this road.
I would expect a fair bit of car noise though when using sunbeds by the pool (which are on the front).

The hotel bar was a little expensive (although they do have an Happy Hour which we never got to use). Large beer is €4. You can get same for €3.50 sitting at a fabulous beach front bar.

All in all not a bad place to stay for the price. We also had wonderful weather in November 🌞

Went to this hotel back in September 2022, Loved it so booked 11 nights for me and the wife March 23. This is a small 51 room Hotel which offered bed and breakfast, but a small basic menu is available throughout the day until 21.30hrs in the evening.
First the negative points……..There are none……that is being honest, The staff of 13 do an absolutely tremendous job of looking after their guests. There is nothing that they will not help you with, whether it’s an additional kettle/pillow in the room to their local knowledge of transportation to local scenic sights. Antonio (the best his words) and Mercedes and Rachel do a great front of house/receptionist duty, but often help out at busy times I.E. breakfast when other staff are under pressure. Cannot thank them enough including Sergio Manager Fabio Suzanna kitchen bar staff. ( ps you must try Suzanne’s caramel frappe) . The cleaners came every day, sheets every 3 days super job
The rooms , have small fridges , which we found useful for storing bottles water milk etc as we do like a cuppa in the morning before breakfast which is 0815-10.30 . This is a small building and did have a lift, but I only used it twice for my suitcase. Although the hotel is located on a road, it has very little traffic noise whether you are in the bedroom or by the pool. If like me you want to explore, there are two bus stops yards from the front of the house which travel east towards Malaga city or west for Mijas and Fuengerila. Bus travel is so cheap in Spain . A new Aldi store is located nearby for botteld water and essential shampoo body wash items and priced cheaper than the UK. Would I stay here again Yes, why, it is such a small and very very friendly hotel, on returning you are so welcomed by the staff, which is why so many couples return year after year.

Our 2nd visit to this wonderful hotel (1st Nov 2021) and so glad we decided to return as it didn't disappoint. This hotel has super friendly staff in all areas of their business. Susannah welcoming you for breakfast and always happy and smiling, Laura and the other Bar Staff always on hand for food and drinks both which are very good and very reasonably priced. Mercedes, Ava,Sergio and the other reception front of house staff are always happy and extremely helpful also a special mention to the cleaners who work extremely hard keeping everything clean to a very very high standard. We had a front facing room whereas the rooms at the back face onto a little courtyard on the 1st floor but seem just as nice.
The hotel is very close to bus stops and the train station is approx 5-10 mins walk which takes you straight to Malaga Airport and Malaga City in one direction and Fuengirola in the other. Beaches, shops bars and restaurants are also all within walking distance.
Would I return again? yes for definite please just keep on doing what you are doing Arcos de Montemar as it is near perfection and makes for a very relaxing enjoyable holiday

Arcos de Montemar hotel was everything you would want from a small, family owned, hotel with a traditional Spanish feel.
We stayed there late February 2022 and found it just perfect.
The hotel was very clean and fresh and looked recently decorated and refurbished. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and it didn’t take long to get to know almost all of them by name.
The manager and all the front of hotel staff spoke very good English and the Spanish bar manger (who didn’t) had no problem knowing what we wanted to drink.
The happy hour from 6 to 7 genuinely did all but premium drinks as 2 for 1 (including cocktails). Basic meals and bar snacks were available all day at reasonable cost.
The buffet style breakfast was very good and had as wide a range of high quality choices as possible for a small hotel. The kitchen staff were very proud of the standards of food and presentation in addition to diligent hygiene measures.
Antonio (morning reception) and Eva (evening reception) were lovely people, coming over to chat for a couple of minutes while they passed us to teach us a few Spanish phrases (and we returned the favour with a few Scottish words for them to learn).
Close to the beach and marina the hotel is located on the bus route between Malaga and Benalmadena (but in a less busy area of Torremolinos) and buses can be caught to Mijas, Benalmadena, Benalmadina Pueblo, Fuengerola, Torremolinos centre and Malaga from almost outside the hotel. We went everywhere.
Rooms at the front of the hotel are sunny (but a bit noisier) but the rear rooms will be cooler in the summer (but Air conditioning is standard.
We loved the hotel and hope to visit again in July.

Visited here with my mum for a holiday. The hotel is a little gem. Eva on arrival checked us in and was so helpful and friendly. Our room was on the second floor facing the pool. It was so clean. It was a good size and very nice. The beds were so comfy. The bathroom was very modern with a large shower. The breakfast was buffet and the chef, who was a lovely lady, would put what you asked for on a plate and pass this over to you. There was hand sanitiser at the entrance and everyone wore masks. The pool was a good size. The staff could not do enough for you, they organised our COVID test for the return to UK and they even gave me a birthday cake on my birthday. Thank you again. Had an such an amazing and relaxing time. We would definitely recommend this hotel and can’t wait to go back. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely holiday and their hard work.
