Detailed Reviews
We have just returned from a week at the Pinomar Hotel Marbella. The hotel is quit old but in good conseving condition. The service is simple and perfect. It have a dinner buffet with many many diferent food every days. The beach have a brown sand (not so good). If you want a central Hotel this is not a good idea, becouse this hotel is 6 Km far from Marbella.

Great location for most activities in the area, direct access to the beach in short walk, clean grounds and hotel rooms, well signposted if driving in, the only issue there was parking as there was not really much space left for the few hotels in the area for all the guests and as thats the only road in to where the hotel is, it was time consuming and frustrating in the heat.
But the food was nice and we are quite fussy to be honest so was pleasantly surprised and when we arrived late to find a table set up with fresh meals and drinks waiting for us after check in was a lovely welcome gesture.
Poolside activities were fun and we felt welcome among the Spanish. Snacks were readily available including bbq style as well as crisps and popcorn with an array of drinks you can help yourself too at the bar including alcohol also being served by the friendly attendant, as were all the staff throughout, very helpful and caring to be honest.
we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Only 2 things I would suggest
1. A lift as stairs are long and quite steep although in beautiful white marble, all the same
It's tiring and some guests would struggle with them
2. A. CASHPOINT/ATM! The nearest one is at the shops on the edge of the motorway!? and when I trekked up to it, it was out of order awaiting repair, gutted as the next one was as far as Marbella town :-(
Not great when its a cash only towel deposit and you fancy going for a swim but again the staff were obliging to the situation and awaited my promise of the deposit when I returned from shopping later.
All in all a lovely place well kept deservent of it 3 stars but with a 5 star friendliness from the staff

We had a lovely time at Diverhotel in the first week in June . I travelled alone with my 9 year old son .
We specifically booked this hotel because we read in the reviews that it was mainly Spanish guests and the entertainment was mainly in Spansh . We go to Spain to be in Spain so this suited us . We both speak fair Spanish but we like to improve it when we can .
The hotel is so clean it's spotless . The staff are all really lovely and friendly . We chose to try and converse in Spanish as much as we could but if we struggled the staff were able to speak English perfectly well .
Our room wasn't amazing ( we had room 303 which according to the reviews is the worst in the hotel) but I hadn't paid for an upgrade so it was as expected . The maid service was fantastic however , they do such a good job .
i cannot believe people are saying that there is nowhere nice to eat near the hotel , there are so many fantatic places to eat within a 20 minute walk ! we can highly recommend Fernando y Encarni and Karma Beach , both lovely and a few minutes away . There were plenty more to cose from too .
We took an Uber to Puerto Banus one night and it was 25 Euro each way but it was a treat night so that was ok .
The entertainment was fun , and there were activities for bothe adults and children all day .
We didn't go all-inclusive but the breakfast was fine .
My son and I had a really lovely holiday here and would recommend to all . If you are expecting a British styled hotel with wall-to-wall Irish bars and drunk Brit then I suggest you go to Benidorm or Blackpool

What an awful hotel and an awful experience. How anyone can give this place an even neutral review (let alone a positive one) is beyond me.
Knowing where to start with this review is really difficult. Firstly our room upon arrival was smelly, damp and mouldy. The room was too small to fit a double bed and a single bed for our 3 year old so we had to climb over beds to get in the room and then we noticed cockroaches climbing the wall!! We quickly went to reception where they said they couldn't do anything but we could pay for an upgrade!! After speaking to other guests nearly everyone else had had to ask for room changes because of many different problems. We were eventually moved to an equally smelly room which didn't have cockroaches in for the week but had to share our bed with our toddler as there was no possibility of him having his own bed!
The hotel as a whole is 100% geared for Spanish guests. There are no happy guests from other countries. We have spoken to numerous couples including Portuguese and German and all agree at the poorness of the hotel.
The food is lacklustre and the worst I have encountered in 12 years of travelling. The pool system of queuing in the road until a gate opens at 10am is both ludicrous & dangerous and leads to bitterness and anger.
I cannot stress enough how much you should avoid this place. It is the only holiday I have been on where I have wanted to return home early. It should not be listed in British holiday brochures and how it got its 3 star rating is flabbergasting. Please, please save your hard earned money and go elsewhere.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for sharing your experience. Only through the comments of our guests, we are able to know about their experiences. Concerning your comment about the insects, we inform you, that we dispose about programmes of protection against insect and rats pests and we apply them more than set up by law. This situation does not happen very often and depends on the hot clime we have in this area. In the moments of extreme temperatures, especially the flying insects enter from the garden or from the street. About the buffet food, every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is supervised by the Head Chef, and the menus are consistent throughout the hotel chain. āDiverā menus have meat and fish dishes daily, plus meat and fish dishes prepared in sauce, as well as salads. We also offer 16 bowls of cruditĆ©s to allow our guests to garnish their salads according to their preferences. In addition to the grill area, our buffet includes a section where our guests can find pizza, pasta or crepes. At lunch, there is also an area dedicated to rice dishes (meat or seafood paella, or white rice) which turns every evening into a themed area - where it is possible to find recipes from Andalusia to Chinese or Mexican food -, every week a different one. Every day, we incorporate three specials along with two dish warmers for stew and a specific area for cheese. With regards to desserts, we customarily offer five different options apart from ice cream cups and seven types of fruit. Additionally, we couldnāt fail to mention the āgalaā dinner we host every Saturday. Regarding meals, breakfast could be considered the less varied since the baking cycle is shorter. Nonetheless, it is possible to have donuts, croissants, madeleines and other pastries, a buffet of cut fruit which includes grapefruit, oranges, kiwis, melon and watermelon, as well as yogurt of different flavours, three types of cereal, bacon, beans, sausages or scrambled eggs. We will bear your impressions in mind and we will work in improving the marked points in order that in a next visit your perception of the products received is totally satisfactory. We hope you give us another opportunity to change the perception of your stay. Regards, Alejandro Castillo Diver Marbella Hotel

Don't be fooled by the pictures. Very disappointed, supersmall pool areas and low standard...also no wifi in the room only in the reception. Rooms are small + superthin walls...
You'll have to leave a deposit of 10ā¬ if you'd like to borrow a towel and if you want a new one during the week you'll have to pay 1ā¬. We only got one key for the room also. (2 people sharing).

Just not long been back from a 2 week holiday and I am surprised I lived till the end as I was bored all the time in the hotel with nothing to do for the English people, the food was okay I guess but mostly cold at lunch time, the rooms were a mess when we arrived and were infested with wood lice and ants. The pools and outside bar closes dead on at 8pm and no entertainment for family except for the Spanish meanwhile the hotel next door pool is open till 11pm and has some entertainment. The staff are friendly but donāt speak the best of English. Pictures donāt do this hotel justice meaning that in a bad way, so if you want a Spanish hotel with barely nothing to do and having to learn to speak Spanish for your holiday then good luck to you!

Dear guest, Thank you very much for sharing your experience. Only through the comments of our guests, we are able to know about their experiences. Our ultimate aim is to give our guests even greater comfort than they may find AT HOME. Further to your comments concerning the temperature of the food, we would like to communicate that our principal concern is to obtain the adequate temperature, the problem results from the different appraisals between Mediterranean countries and the centre of Europe, because in the south the meals are taken more lukewarm. Therefore we make great efforts forming our staff and explaining them this important difference in order to offer food, which satisfy the needs of all our guests. Concerning your comment about the ants in your room, we inform you, that we dispose about programmes of protection against insect pests and we apply them more than set up by law. The problem is, that the rooms, near to the garden and with some food inside, there it is impossible to control the entrance of ants from the outside. We have passed a notice about your case to the responsible of quality, so they will re-examine the room and the application of protection against insect pests. Regarding the comments that the hotel staff didnĀ“t speak any English, we would like to let you know that we work hardly every day to get it and we invest a lot of time and money providing formation to our staff. We will bear this comment in mind, but it must also be said that most of our staff and entertainment team can speak perfectly English. Besides, our reception staff is able to communicate efficiently with our English guests. Pleas e know that we are at your full disposal and trust you could give us a second chance to impress you. Yours Sincerely, Alejandro Castillo Diver Hotel Marbella

We went on a 10 day holiday with our children ranging in ages. Although it is predominantly spanish (yes hard to believe as we went to spain) the staff were very welcoming and invited our 7 year old to kids club every day and she joined in freely with the mini disco.
The hotel was clean and the grounds were spotless.
The staff were helpful and friendly we had a great time. Definately will be going back

Landed at Malaga airport and was greeted by the sunshine and the private taxi driver who whisked us off to our destination. Arrived 30 minutes later to the Diverhotel which we had been told was a 4-star hotel, but which was clearly marked on the large sign as a 3-star. Bad sign. Went into reception and we were given the keys to our rooms and instructions about meal times etc. Our rooms ended up being 400-500m away from the main building and amenities which wouldn't have been a problem had there been a reception area there where you could have access to drinking water etc, but all there was was one water cooler with small cups which was empty half the time. We were on the first floor of the building (which was just as well as there is no lift) and had booked to have rooms with a balcony - this didn't happen. Instead we had a view of someone's back garden in which they appeared to be running a playgroup of some sort. We also were lucky enough to have a good strong smell of sewage at various times throughout the day - the worst was the morning.
The first evening we went down to the dining room and it was at this point we became aware that the hotel was definitely designed for Spanish families. Food labels were in Spanish (English translations on some of them), food very typically Spanish and staff had very little english so it really was a learn by doing type affair. Food was pretty much the same at every meal and it was grand but nothing to write home about and hadn't any other option but eat it as the package was all inclusive and there was nowhere else to eat within walking distance, everything was a taxi drive away and be warned - the taxis are not cheap. The dining room could be very busy and wasn't always easy to get what you wanted to eat - however the dining room staff were incredibly efficient in terms of clearing tables.
Bar area was open in the evenings between 8.30pm and 1am. Not much selection. Entertainment solely in Spanish and designed for children. Rafael the bar man was however very pleasant and efficient.
At the pool there was a bar area and food that you could have throughout the day (chips, frankfurter type sausages and literal ham burgers). Sun beds weren't a possibility as towels were left on them all the time and again activities for children so wasn't at all suitable for our trip.
There were only 2 toilets in the main reception beside the food hall - these rarely had toilet roll and weren't overly clean -although having observed the cleaners trying to tidy them in the morning, this was possibly more the fault of some of the guests who didn't seem to be aware of how to flush toilets or use bins. However it would have been better if the toilets had been checked on a much more regular basis.
Rooms were basic - no kettle etc. Sheets etc weren't changed although the rooms were checked each day and beds made b the friendly housekeeping staff so no real problems there - floors were quite slippy though so be careful that kids don't fall.
Had been told by the travel agent that we were only a 10 minute taxi drive from Puerto Banus and that we were within walking distance of Marbella town - this is completely untrue. Taxi into Puerto Banus was 40 euro and took at least 20 minutes, and we were 7 km away form Marbella which isn't exactly walkable in the heat plus the hotel is right beside the main highway which you can't walk down. This misinformation was the fault of the travel agent - not the hotel.
Beach was a 5 minute walk and was nice apart from people trying to sell you things every 5 minutes which was incredibly irritating.
In sum: wouldn't recommend going here unless you are a spanish family as you will feel incredibly out of place. If you are booking as 4 friends going away for a few days and your travel agent tries to send you here do not go. Find somewhere else, it's not near anything and there is nothing to do unless you get taxis. All inclusive not worth it. Staff were friendly and helpful but limited english so unless you know spanish this is not the place for you.

No tea making facilities in rooms, but staff helpful, we got a fridge with no problems
It was over a year ago. Thank you for your kindness
yes there is a bus on each side of the road, one to go to Marbella & the other one Fuengerola. They are only a couple of euros and go every 30minutes..
Could I just share my experience on 23/06/2018 : whilst waiting to go to Fuengorola, at the bus stop, a car pulled up & although the driver & car looked respectable , he flashed a pass, stated he was a staff member for the bus company & said that the bus had broke down & he would give us a lift. After refusing to get into the car, he drove off. The bus arrived 5 minutes later !! He may have been genuine but just be aware & don't take lifts . Worst case, is if the bus had broken down there would have been another one 30 mins later or one sent in its place. I just wish I had got his licence number & reported it.
