Hotel is located right next to train station meaning very easy transfer yet no train noise at all. Bit if a walk to the old town and marina (10-15minutes). Rooms were very clean, beds really comfortable and nice shower. Good choice at breakfast and great staff all round.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my husband and then booked an adjoining room for my children who joined us to stay. Hotel was really lovely and the pool area small but very modern and everything you needed was there. Drinks reasonably priced for a hotel and location was ideal next to the station that takes you straight to the airport and a 20 minute walk into the centre. Staff were extremely courteous and very helpful even checking us in early and making sure we didn't have to move rooms even the children arrived. Excellent stay.
Has the makings of a Very nice hotel but attention to detail and front of house staff let the hotel down. Rooms are quite small and towels are old and worn. Hotel windows were dirty and some bathroom dispensers were empty and hard to operate. Breakfast was nice and the quality and quality was good.
Overall our stay was good. Some highlights - rooms (stayed in superior double) are nice and the bed is very comfortable. It was quite too. I asked for an extra blanket as you basically get a thick sheet to use as a duvet. The layout of the room is well planned with amenities you can expect (right amount of hangers and storage space, shampoo, conditioner - no slippers or dressing gown, did not find a kettle). I particularly enjoyed the hotel bar and the service at the bar was very attentive and personal. The pool is a little on the small side (& a bit murky looking). The pool is not heated - be warned about a heart attack moment as you submerge ! On Monday the bar was closed - not sure why. However I did enjoy the pool and the staff were very good on managing groups of guest who are ‘a bit overwhelming / loud. The low light for me was the breakfast. It feels like no one really cares about a good experience. The plates are cold and the coffee is not great. The omelette each and every time was under cooked on the inside and burned on the outside. TBH I gave up. Any effort including communication was ignored. Shoulders shrugged on behalf of the staff. Tables were cleaned but quite slowly leaving the guest to eat admiring dirty dishes. It’s just not nice. Some dishes were not replaced including honey combs. The same empty honey comb placed out the following day. Porridge oats not replaced. I would actually rate the breakfast as a 2/5 for customer service 3/5 for choice. Its definitely a long way off what is advertised in the digital displays and the website. It’s not a 4 star hotel breakfast experience by any means but overall I would recommend this hotel as a viable option for anyone wishing to stay in Malaga.…
I would like to thank Mrs Mireia Banes, the guest experience manager, for her kindness, professionalism and for her conscientious work. I spent two weeks in the hotel Barcelo in Malaga in July 2021 with my daughter. We were already stressed for personal problems and her warm welcome was much appreciated. She tried and solved any single issue and did her best in order to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you again Mireia for going the extra mile.
