Our two-night stay in Cordoba was planned to be the climax to our Spring tour to Andalusian cities and countryside. Ronda, Cadiz, Jerez, Seville, Carmona, and Malaga. Arrival at the Hospes involved a drive through narrow streets and lanes and we were made most welcome on arrival by the concierge who arranged parking “nearby”. Did we want an upgrade? everything was on offer and we settled for a small supplement and stayed in a junior suite. It was lovely and looked out on to a small courtyard. Cranky room entrance required some training to gain entry. That the hotel is lovely cannot be said often enough. There are lovely gardens as well as spectacular Roman remains on view beneath the dining room. Opportunities exist each day to go beneath the spa and look at them directly. However . . . We were advised where the monuments, cathedral etc were but “they are all closed”. Spain was in the throes of shutting down due to the coronavirus pandemic. We could go for a walk and got lunch in a tapas bar but soon realised the necessary elevation of risk and returned to the hotel. The streets were now empty, and the hotel provided a secure haven until we deported for the Parador the next morning though empty streets. Comfort in the hotel was of the highest and dinner was wonderful. Sumptuous breakfast on top of Roman street. We must have been amongst the last to check out before complete closedown.

This is a perfectly lovely palacio hotel in a very central and quiet area, and a short walk to all sites. Plenty of restaurants nearby. You are walking through narrow and charming streets with few cars. The rooms were just perfect, and comfortable with good linens and windows that opened out to private areas. Breakfast was excellent, and all the staff were friendly and very competent. Cordoba is a great city to walk around in with lots to see and this hotel was a great place to relax at any time of day. A gem, and so happy we selected it by using the trip advisor reviews. My husband and I travel to Europe a lot and we appreciate people writing reviews for trip advisor. I depend on those reviews, and encourage other frequent travelers to contribute. We look for 4 and 5 star hotels, and this is a 5 star, for sure.

A wonderful spot. Hotel is lovely, staff was so helpful. We were upgraded to a junior suite that was spectacular. Good location, we were able to walk to everything while being just far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Would definitely stay there again.

Before I say anything else, I want to say a special thank you to Carmina who looked after us so well each morning at breakfast. Wow! What a building houses this hotel - a really amazing experience. Stunning. The patio is the place to sip a G and T each day as the sun sets. Stunning restaurant with glass floor looking down at the Roman ruins. Service exemplary Staff superb. We were out of season so it was v quiet in the evenings and there was no cosy bar at relax in at the end of the day. But you could get drinks and food in the main restaurant. (There’s a good bar in the square around the corner) Don’t bring a car - this part of Cordoba is v narrow. We used the train from Seville - excellent service. Main attractions about a 15 min walk.

Loved this hotel! Here are a couple of highlights Service is fantastic- staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Top notch service. Location is great- sits right next to the main tourist area, so it’s quiet at night :) but you can be at the farthest site in 15 mins walk. Very convenient. Restaurants are close by for dinner. The look and decor is stunning. Very historic with well preserved heritage. There are Roman ruins under the hotel that you can tour. The rooms are spacious and very well designed. Other perks: valet service for the car, beautiful garden in the middle with a pool (was like a mini oasis to escape the city hustle), stay comes with an hour in the Roman baths daily. Overall, I loved this hotel and would recommend it in a heartbeat. We stayed at another Hospes hotel previously and were disappointed in the brand. This hotel was a much better experience.
