Very close to the historic centre of Cordoba, this hotel is a great find and wonderful value for money. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable. They have a little patio area inside the hotel which makes it even more charming. It is not a grand palace but there are so many things to do in Cordoba that if you are looking for a place to rest, this is the place to go to. They do not serve any food but there are plenty of restaurants around.

This is a review of Hostal Maestre (Hostal and Hotel are next to each other). The lady at the reception desk at the Hotel was very helpful too, but our 3 night stay was at the Hostal next door. We stayed in Room 18, which is adapted for wheelchair users and on the ground floor. Room 18's spacious, with twin beds and a sofabed. We didn't need to use it as a bed, but it was a very comfy sofa. When you're travelling, it's nice to have somewhere extra to relax/read that isn't your bed. TV and two extra chairs added to the comfort and the L shape of the room made it more interesting than the usual box shape. The window gives onto the street - it was quiet at night. We were there on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday night near Christmas and didn't hear anything but the occasional passerby. The thick curtains keep the room super private feeling too and the interior is screened, even when you draw the curtains. We stayed for 3 nights and the room was cleaned and the linen changed every day. It was well looked after and everything was clean and fresh when we arrived. There's no breakfast served in the Hostal itself, so we went round the corner to Los 3 Califas, the neighbourhood cafe on Calle San Fernando. Generous, tasty toast with olive oil, tomatoes and jamon. Good coffee too. Very fresh churros. We didn't eat anything but breakfast there, but I'd certainly recommend it. The other food looked good. Very friendly. We were lucky enough to check in when Marga was on the front desk. She is like somebody out of a hotel reception training video: lovely, helpful and welcoming. She gives a great impression of the hostal. We also met Sandra who was on the front desk on a couple of afternoons and gave us great recommendations for places to go (she told us about the Roman Bridge being lit up at night - well worth walking across in the evening and only 5 minutes walk away). They're both obviously very proud of their city and want visitors to enjoy themselves. The Hostal is very well placed. You walk up Calle San Fernando for about 10/15 minutes to get into the centre of town, 5 minutes down Calle San Fernando to get to the river (and nature reserve) and 5 minutes through the arch across the road, along little white painted streets/alleyways to get to the Mezquita and the Juderia. There are neighbourhood cafes and bars - near enough to be handy, but far enough away that they don't keep you awake. Glad to have discovered the Hostal Maestre and will book there again when we visit Cordoba again.

Stayed 2 nights. Parked the car underneath. 12 euros a night extra. Nice clean small hotel totally refurbished but with traditional Spanish style. The room had a tv but it was tiny and the aerial input was faulty. It had a safe but no key! There was no tea/coffee making facility. There was no bar or breakfast area. So bring your own refreshments. Don't confuse this with the hostal of the same name a couple of doors away.

I stayed here as a part of a group tour. I was not happy with the stay. The location of the hotel is central. A short walk to the mezquita and restaurants. When I opened up the sheets on my bed, I realized the sheets were dirty and most definitely have not been changed after the previous guest. There were some sandy and grainy bits on the bed, as well as some hair. I went down to the reception and asked for a different room. The receptionists were completely unapologetic but quickly gave me a new room. The bed in this room was clean, but there was still some hair on the thicker blanket. I could not be bothered to change rooms again as I had just moved my suitcases from the other room so just ignored it. Other than that the room is simple and basic. I could hear noises from people talking inside the hotel and closing the gate etc. I was also privy to the entire phone conversation the guy in the next room was on. The curtain on the window is not a blackout curtain. Breakfast was included and it was basic and simple.
