We stayed for eleven nights during the Festival of Patios in May 2024.

The hotel is situated in the heart of the old town and is a converted traditional mansion house with a central patio. Many of the original features remain.

We were welcomed by Paloma, who gave us an overview of the facilities and local area. All of the reception staff were extremely helpful.

Our room was situated on the first floor at the front of the building. The room was immaculate and had been well prepared before our arrival. The large bed was extremely comfortable and the bed linen was changed daily. The main feature of the room was a large tiled bath, which also contained a shower unit. We made good use of this facility.

One observation regarding the room would be that there was nowhere to store our clothes, other than half a dozen hangers for shirts, jackets etc. As we were staying for an extended period, we found ourselves literally living out of our suit cases for the whole period.

We made use of the roof terrace on several occasions. The view across the old part of the city was amazing.

Breakfast was served in a small dining area, which when busy was a bit tight for room. The food service area in particular we found rather cramped at times. The breakfast offerings were typical of the area and generally good.

Overall, we found this hotel to be of a good standard. Well situated and within easy reach of the main attractions in the old town.

However, we paid a premium price for our room and for the facilities available, I felt the hotel was somewhat over priced for what was on offer.

Dear guest tonywalker1950, First of all, and on behalf of all staff, we would like to thank you for these detailed and positive comments. We are really pleased to know that you had a nice stay with us. Our aim is to offer you a pleasant experience and take a nice memory of Andalusia. Madinat is an experience that every visitor should enjoy in Andalusia. As Historical Building, Madinat is a Modernist-Andalusi style courtyard house, located 5 minutes from the Mosque-Cathedral. The 18th century building is full of details and preserve the majority of the original decorations. Light, quietness and spotless are the main attributes of Madinat. On the other hand, we would like to invite you to Madinat on your next visit to Andalusia, to enjoy our buffet and the tapas and wines selections on the terrace. It will be a pleasure to receive you again in Madinat. We will keep for you a surprise. For your next visit, you can contact us directly for better prices. Our kindest regards, Youssef Madinat Team

Room: Alhóndiga [double superior]

We spent two nights at this lovely boutique hotel.
Check in was efficient and welcoming. We were given freshly made lemonade and sweets whilst check in took place, and was offered information about the area. The host then showed us to our room on the first floor.

The room was spacious. The bed was a good size and was very comfortable. the aircon worked well. There was plenty of room for luggage and to unpack.

Welcome chocolates were in the room next to the bed on arrival to the room.

The bathroom had a large wet room style shower and all toiletries were provided. The sink was just outside of this, as part of the main room. The toilet was situated between the sink [in the main room] and the shower, operated from both by glass walls which had partial frosting. Whilst this ensured good lighting I would have preferred a full frosted or solid wall for additional privacy. All toiletries were provided, including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and soap, and were good. The hairdryer was also of a good standard.

The rooftop terraces were pleasant with good views over the city. Whilst there is no bar upstairs we were told that we could have drinks sent up to us should we wish. There was also a lovely patio area in the centre of the building.

Breakfast was a small fresh buffet with fruit, pastries, meat and cheese, Spanish omelette, breads, yogurt, etc and you could request hot foods such as eggs. Tea and coffee was plentiful, as were fresh juices. It was also possible to request a takeaway cup for your hot drink if you wished.

The hotel is within the Jewish quarter down narrow cobbled lanes. This means that a taxi cannot come directly to the door, though we were collected and dropped off just at the top of the straight - a few steps away from the hotel entrance.

This was a very pleasant stay in a lovely boutique hotel.

A most delightful place to stay. Staff was very helpful at all times, and communications were very easy. They booked us two dinner reservations and tickets to the horse/flamenco show — which is a worthwhile experience. The room was very comfortable and spacious enough. “Double bed” meant two beds made as one, so essentially king size. Delightful pillows. Good A/C. Modern and roomy shower and bath. Excellent and well staffed and delicious intimate breakfast area. “Surprise” rooftop with terrific views, and most accommodating staff bringing drinks at any time. The few rooms arranged in two levels around an interior courtyard bring back the ‘real’ feel of an old ‘noble’ house in the inner city. Be SURE to accept their arranged ride from train or bus station — it takes a skilled and steel nerved driver to navigate the narrow inner city streets and corners. If you have a tight budget or want to approach on foot with your luggage, just taxi or Uber ‘easily’ through the modern city to a nearby ‘wide open’ spot such as the Romano Bridge (or other bridge just upstream/west), and it’s a 5 minute or less (but slightly uphill) walk from there. Do get your Mezquita tickets probably a week in advance for best choice of entry times — and the audio guide was confusing as there are no markings inside of the numbered audio guide spots. Also, the Museo at the far end of the Romano Bridge is definitely worth your hour. The Casa Sephardia (Jewish museum) was also fascinating and worth at least an hour.

Our stay at Hotel Madinat left us with mixed feelings. While the location was indeed ideal, offering easy access to the city's attractions, the overall experience did not match the hefty price tag.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and appreciated the assistance in booking a restaurant. However, the positives ended there. Our room, though clean, fell short in several aspects. The noise from other guests was disruptive, and the gaps around the door only exacerbated the issue.

The bed, advertised as a double, was a disappointment considering the premium we paid. We expected a king-size bed for the price. Additionally, the room fittings appeared to be of poor quality, with an over-reliance on IKEA products. The shower experience was particularly frustrating, requiring a delicate balance of hot and cold taps to achieve the desired temperature.

On a brighter note, the AC provided relief from the heat and operated quietly.

In conclusion, while Hotel Madinat may offer convenience in terms of location, the overall value proposition leaves much to be desired. For the same price, guests can likely find better quality accommodations outside the city center and use the savings to cover transportation costs.

We had an absolutely lovely stay at Hotel Madinat. We stayed there for New Year's Eve, and the rooftop patio offered 360 degree views of the city, with midnight fireworks in every direction and an unobstructed view of La Mezquita. The staff was incredibly helpful - they booked our taxis to and from the train, and provided excellent restaurant recommendations. They even treated us to a bottle of cava and grapes to ring in the new year in the Spanish tradition.
The junior suite was absolutely beautiful, with quaint furnishings combined with a modern bathroom, and a beautiful bathtub.
The location was also perfect - five minutes from La Mezquita and all the restaurants, but nestled in a quiet corner so we weren't bothered by street noise. Absolutely a dream stay. Thank you, team Madinat!

We had a lovely two night stay at the Hotel Madinat. We were warmly greeted by Youseff, who spent considerable time giving us an overview of the hotel and recommendations for restaurants and things to do during our brief stay in the beautiful city of Cordoba. We were given an upgraded room which felt luxurious, if a bit quirky with the enormous shower/bathtub in the middle of the room, which did lack a bit of privacy (a minor complaint). The bed was amazingly comfortable and the room was very clean. All of the staff we encountered during our stay were more than happy to help or answer any questions we had. Breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade cakes and yogurt. The hotel arranged a taxi pick-up from and back to the train station for us, which was very welcome and relieved any transportation stress.

We would highly recommend Hotel Madinat to anyone looking for a place to stay in Cordoba. Do not hesitate to book. Great location and all of the tourist sites are within an easy walking distance. We regret not staying longer!

This is such a lovely boutique hotel right in the old city of Cordoba. It is beautifully decorated, immaculate, and they have thoughtful details added along the way: a welcome drink of lemonade, homemade chocolates in the room, a small bundle of dried flowers on the bed, etc. The breakfast has choices of anything you could want and includes delicious pastries that I wasn't familiar with. Check in was a breeze with Paloma. The only thing you need to be aware of is if you are driving in, parking is rather tricky. Since it's the old city with narrow cobblestone streets, you have to park in a garage which is near, but we had a hard time finding it. Not a reason to shy away, just be aware. A very nice policeman stopped when we looked completely lost and we followed him there!

We both loved this historic and charming inn tucked away on a quiet side street in Cordoba. The two blocks before the hotel are a bit bedraggled, but the hotel is definitely not. You walk into a 18th century courtyard in what was a noble family’s house that has now been mostly restored. We were greeted by a very attentive receptionist who served us fresh lemonade, explained the hotel, checked us in, and oriented us to Cordoba. Our room was modest size with nice tile work and a very comfortable bed. Easy walking distance to the mosque/cathedral but nicely separated from the main tourist paths. My wife lived the nice little touches in the room, including chocolate truffles, a bottle of water, and a small bouquet of dried flowers on the bed.

We had a great time at the Madinat Hotel in Cordoba. Hidden in a very small alley full of charm, this very small, very intimate hotel has very few rooms, making it a preserved place. The decoration is very original, each room is unique, nothing is standardized, and done with so much taste while keeping the original charm of the place. The breakfast is of very high quality, everything is homemade with ultra-fresh products. We loved the originality of our room, with a bathroom full of mirrors, really very unusual! On the roof, several small terraces with lounges available which allow you to enjoy a magical view of the roofs of Córdoba. The hotel is close to everything: the Ribera public car park is a few streets away, really very convenient for parking, but spaces are limited and cannot be reserved in advance. The main monuments are within easy reach, you can do everything on foot, getting lost in the magnificent alleys. I can only recommend this address to spend a timeless moment and experience the atmosphere of Córdoba! Thank you for your welcome. Sophie and Sylvain.
