The hotel is situated in the heart of the old town and is a converted traditional mansion house with a central patio. Many of the original features remain.
We were welcomed by Paloma, who gave us an overview of the facilities and local area. All of the reception staff were extremely helpful.
Our room was situated on the first floor at the front of the building. The room was immaculate and had been well prepared before our arrival. The large bed was extremely comfortable and the bed linen was changed daily. The main feature of the room was a large tiled bath, which also contained a shower unit. We made good use of this facility.
One observation regarding the room would be that there was nowhere to store our clothes, other than half a dozen hangers for shirts, jackets etc. As we were staying for an extended period, we found ourselves literally living out of our suit cases for the whole period.
We made use of the roof terrace on several occasions. The view across the old part of the city was amazing.
Breakfast was served in a small dining area, which when busy was a bit tight for room. The food service area in particular we found rather cramped at times. The breakfast offerings were typical of the area and generally good.
Overall, we found this hotel to be of a good standard. Well situated and within easy reach of the main attractions in the old town.
However, we paid a premium price for our room and for the facilities available, I felt the hotel was somewhat over priced for what was on offer.

We spent two nights at this lovely boutique hotel.
Check in was efficient and welcoming. We were given freshly made lemonade and sweets whilst check in took place, and was offered information about the area. The host then showed us to our room on the first floor.
The room was spacious. The bed was a good size and was very comfortable. the aircon worked well. There was plenty of room for luggage and to unpack.
Welcome chocolates were in the room next to the bed on arrival to the room.
The bathroom had a large wet room style shower and all toiletries were provided. The sink was just outside of this, as part of the main room. The toilet was situated between the sink [in the main room] and the shower, operated from both by glass walls which had partial frosting. Whilst this ensured good lighting I would have preferred a full frosted or solid wall for additional privacy. All toiletries were provided, including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and soap, and were good. The hairdryer was also of a good standard.
The rooftop terraces were pleasant with good views over the city. Whilst there is no bar upstairs we were told that we could have drinks sent up to us should we wish. There was also a lovely patio area in the centre of the building.
Breakfast was a small fresh buffet with fruit, pastries, meat and cheese, Spanish omelette, breads, yogurt, etc and you could request hot foods such as eggs. Tea and coffee was plentiful, as were fresh juices. It was also possible to request a takeaway cup for your hot drink if you wished.
The hotel is within the Jewish quarter down narrow cobbled lanes. This means that a taxi cannot come directly to the door, though we were collected and dropped off just at the top of the straight - a few steps away from the hotel entrance.
This was a very pleasant stay in a lovely boutique hotel.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and appreciated the assistance in booking a restaurant. However, the positives ended there. Our room, though clean, fell short in several aspects. The noise from other guests was disruptive, and the gaps around the door only exacerbated the issue.
The bed, advertised as a double, was a disappointment considering the premium we paid. We expected a king-size bed for the price. Additionally, the room fittings appeared to be of poor quality, with an over-reliance on IKEA products. The shower experience was particularly frustrating, requiring a delicate balance of hot and cold taps to achieve the desired temperature.
On a brighter note, the AC provided relief from the heat and operated quietly.
In conclusion, while Hotel Madinat may offer convenience in terms of location, the overall value proposition leaves much to be desired. For the same price, guests can likely find better quality accommodations outside the city center and use the savings to cover transportation costs.
The junior suite was absolutely beautiful, with quaint furnishings combined with a modern bathroom, and a beautiful bathtub.
The location was also perfect - five minutes from La Mezquita and all the restaurants, but nestled in a quiet corner so we weren't bothered by street noise. Absolutely a dream stay. Thank you, team Madinat!
We would highly recommend Hotel Madinat to anyone looking for a place to stay in Cordoba. Do not hesitate to book. Great location and all of the tourist sites are within an easy walking distance. We regret not staying longer!
