For over $200 a night at a Kempinski one expects at least the internet to work. Not so, neither day nor night could we establish a rapid connection. In addition it was a dark, dreary room with no view and no artwork- dismal taste. We were allotted a single tiny container of shower gel. And despite the fact that we did not breakfast at the hotel, we were charged $72 and presented with a forged bill for that service. This chain has lost all its luster.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your review of your stay at Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden. Unfortunately we do not know to which booking your review is referring to. Please feel free to contact us for any unclear invoice statements. Our hotel does not forge bills - I strongly deny this claim. If there was a mistake made we will of course correct it. Apart from that I have forwarded your critic to our respective department heads for further evaluation. With best regards from Dresden Marten Schwass General Manager

The Kempinski is a great option when visiting all the art treasures in Dresden. This is a 5 star hotel with all that you would expect, with a few bumps as they open back up. Look for a good deal on rates and/or an upgrade if you can.

What was only a ruin facade until then became the first address of Dresden in 1995. First address it still is due to the nicely restored building and especially due to the prominent location just opposite the Green Vault and a dozen of meters from the Zwinger. But nowadays, at least our room was worn down, especially the shower, and the service and breakfast are better in other 5star venues we have been. Also beware of the rooms giving to the small street backwards above the bars and restaurants, because you will be woken up by excessive noise from loading and unloading servicing trucks.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us at the Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden. I am happy to read that you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Dresden and with us. The hotel has now been opened since 1995 and of course some renovation works are necessary. We are currently planning the renovation of all hotel rooms for 2022/23 and are already building 4 show rooms. It would be our pleasure to show you the progress at a future visit. We will then also gladly take into consideration that you would prefer a more quiet room to the inner courtyard. With best regards from Dresden Marten Schwass General Manager

We spent three nights at Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden. Our reference for this review is other Kempinski hotels and similar 5-star hotels. After check-in we were offered a room which was severely overheated due to hot weather. The climate system (not A/C) was unable to cool down the room. We asked to be moved to another room but was told that we had to pay for an upgrade to a room facing in a different direction. We declined and suggested a downgrade and a corresponding reimbursement of the difference in rate. Then, finally, we were moved to a cooler room. We liked: • The flexible handling of our request to change room caused by overheating. • The perfect hotel location right next to the center of the old town (Altstadt). • The excellent breakfast. • The pillow menu, allowing one to choose betweend different types of pillows. Room for improvement: • The range of the internet router is poor. We could neither stream sound nor video in the bedroom and with some difficulty in the room’s lounge. Also, the system disconnect devices every 24 hours. • The turndown service is not offered be default. The somewhat thin explanation provided by the hotel is their concern in regard to “environmental and climate protection”. Also, the turndown service, surprisingly, does not include drawing the curtains. • Given the hotel management’s Covid-19 concern and the Kempinski’s “White Glove Services”, it was surprising to find wine glasses in the room with lipstick from previous guests. All together we had a pleasant stay and experienced a professional and service minded staff.
