We arrived after hours, but the hotel reception was very accommodating of our request and made our arrival as painless as possible. The room I stayed in was on the top floor. It was located off of the main staircase. I enjoyed the decor being updated and warm feeling. Situated with a bed, desk, and mini-fridge, it was quaint. Very warm hotel in the cold months. Temperature is easily regulated inside the room. There are a few off-street parking spots located on the property. A tight fit for sure. But, there is plenty of free, on-street parking available. There is also a supermarket right across the street, as well as several places to grab some food close. Being close to the train tracks didn't seem to cause any problems, as I never heard a thing.

Just spent three nights at this small but friendly hotel. First to mention I came late in the day and then no one was there and everything locked. I called and was guided to a box where the key was. My room was on the second floor, small but cosy with private bathroom with a fluid soap. The furniture are outdated and the matress was awful. The bedlinen and pillow were fine. The breakfast is very good and the waitress were very helpful. The breakfast room is beautiful. The bus stop in front of the house and it only takes few minutes into centrum. Altes Villa is a good place to stay. It's not expensive and personal. Just few steps away from Mosel. I recommend them.

We stayed in a large comfortable room on the ground floor. As we arrived late in the evening, around 8.30 pm thanks to a 3 hour delay on Eurostar, we had to collect our key via a box on the wall with an entry code. It seemed odd not having anyone to greet us. During the 2 nights of our stay we only saw a staff member at breakfast and she didn't speak any English. Breakfast was served in a pleasant room and was plentiful witha a wide choice. A 10 minute walk brings you to the historic centre and the hotel is only a short distance fromTrier Sud station.

My review of this little hotel is rather biased by the unexpected upgrade we got to their star room: which has a sort of second floor conservatory attached to it. This turned it from a small, quaint period hotel with limited frills, into something a bit special. If you want to treat yourself, then pay the extra for this room. The hotel is a bit of a schlep into Trier, but easy enough. Trier is really interesting, so you end up walking back to the hotel rather tired. There is no restaurant, so you need to find somewhere for an evening meal. Not a problem: we enjoyed several really interesting places quite nearby. There is a Netto across the street, which is surprisingly useful. The main road is a bit noisy from 7 in the morning, but it seems that everybody in Germany is up and doing something at that time so complaining won't get you anywhere. Oh yes, and they give out delicious sparkling Reisling free at breakfast. Always gets my vote...

We stayed he for two nights, 30 May to 1 June 2015, as part of a self-guided walking tour of the Moselle Valley organised by Inntravel. A wonderful introduction to the Mosel region. The hotel is in a quiet are near Trier Sud railway station, about them minutes walk to the edge of the old city. Friendly, helpful, English speaking staff, fine breakfasts. The room was comfortable and fully equipped. Highly recommended.
