I chose this hotel based on the reviews, which were quite good, and its proximity to the Altstadt where there was a weekend-long street festival going on. The price was better than other nearby hotels. However, I was not impressed. The room was small, a bit shabby and hot and did not have ac, which is typical of hotels in...

The location of this hotel is perfect for a visit to the old town Trier, next to Porta Nigra, the Roman gate. Unfortunately also next to a major street, which makes it rather noisy, especially on the lower floors. The room, again, was spacious and comfortable, even with a small balcony. Good bathroom, and all-in-all, this must have been four...

This is the sister hotel of the Romischer Kaiser across the road, but apparently the big sister is a lot nicer. Anyway, the Altstadt is well-located right by the Porta Nigra and hence a short walk into the beautiful old town of Trier. Our first floor room was not too small, but the two single beds were narrow and the...

I was traveling the Mosel valley alone and needed a clean, safe place to stay in Trier for a few days. The Altstadt suited this perfectly, offering a good value in wonderful location. I was able to walk to the hotel from the train station (lugging a carry on roller bag) and from there wander on foot everywhere I wanted...

The old building hides very nice, large and modernized rooms. We had two well separated beds and a little sitting area. Top location nealyr next door to the Porta Nigra, and friendly service. Everything very clean and practical, comfortable bed and bedlinen - duvet! The lift, as others have noticed, is very slow. But the breakfast is serioulys good, very...

Rather old fashioned with a very slow vintage lift, we were with a big group and it took a long tome to get up to the room, which once I had, was a very pokey room right in the roof-space. no aircon and everything rather dated. Very uncomfortable bed. Good Location at Porta Nigra anmd close to the main station...

We arrived in the middle of a heatwave intending to stay 2 nights, but we were ready to leave in 2 hours. There isn't any a/c anywhere in the hotel, consequently our room was up to 40C when the sun came from the west.We managed to get a fan from reception but that just moved the hot air around. Consequently...

Booked into the Altstadt for 3 nights and enjoyed my stay there. I occupied a single room which was surprisingly larger than expected with good solid furniture and bedding, excellent bathroom, table and chair within the room, and plenty of wardrobe space all very clean. I would have liked a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities but these items were not...
