I recently stayed at the Bildungshotel while attending a trade show in Düsseldorf. The "hotel" was clean, the staff friendly and efficient. The rooms are very small and very basic. The buffet breakfast was sufficient for our needs. However, the trip to a busy trade show could take over an hour each way. There is no restaurant in the hotel...

Staying at this hotel during a heat wave was a nightmare… The room was stuffy and insanely hot. It didn't matter if the windows were closed or open, if the roller blinds were up or down… Also, there were problems with WiFi every night. But the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was rich and tasty, and the...

I satyed in a single room during 6 days. The room was small but well equiped: comfortable bed, wifi access, TV, desk, fridge, wardrobe, plenty of shelves. During this period there was one day which wifi didn't work. It's located in a walking to the University Duisburg-Essen and to the city center but there's a tram station nearby.

This "hotel" is located in the middle of nowhere, far north from the city center which you can reach with a 30 minutes ride in a Bus. The place is difficult to spot, especially in the night and it seems like an old communist building of the 60ies, probably the year in which it was built. It has 10-12 floors...

A very nice and clean hotel. The breakfast was great too for only 8.5€ extra and the staff is very friendly! We stayed here for 3 days during a conference. It is located a bit far to go to Essen without the public transportation but I heard there is a metro station only 3 minutes from the hotel, and the...

I spent almost two months living in this hotel, during a six-week German course I took at Universität Duisburg-Essen. And it was a remarkable experience. From what I could realise, it was a multi-functional building, where along with the hotel, several other activities (such as technical school and etc.) took place. The hotel itself was really clean, and staff was...

I stayed here for a month as a part of an exchange program and it was a great experience. Staff was really helpful. I practiced my German by asking for a light bulb, batteries and change to use on the washer/dryer. There is a sauna in one of the buildings, but I did not use. I saw some girls in...

I stayed here as part of a business trip to Essen. This is one of the most unusual places I've stayed in. This hotel (if you can call it a hotel) is one of the few places that have very low prices but are also immaculately clean and not sketchy. The location is relatively close to the train station and...

This is all about value. The hotel is in fact part of a student/cultural affairs complex (be sure to fhave the address on you: taxi drivers don't seem to know where it is). It's exactly what you would expect of a nice Northern Europe student residence/hotel. The rooms are functionally furnished in light wood, but everything is there (including a...
