This Hotel has class and the staff are first class, from an early check in to an upgraded room all went well for my one night stay - the restaurant is large and the selection of food wide and varied, I loved the cauliflower soup , the Breakfast was well laid out and the selection was good. The rooms were well appointed and the lifts worked well no delays - everything was tip top - but it came at a price which surprised me as travel is in such a mess right now and the Hotel was far from full.
My wife and I stayed in this hotel for the weekend together about one year ago, and two weeks ago we stayed here as a family, and both times the hotel has been exceptional. 2 weeks ago we were driving from Salzburg to Amsterdam, and we decided, very last minute (c. 21:00) to stay in Dusseldorf for the night. The hotel accommodated us last minute, and could not have been more helpful. As a Spire Member, they quickly upgraded us, and were very hospitable to my family and I. For me the Intercontinental name holds a lot of respect as a luxury brand hence my loyalty to IHG hotels, and having stayed in this hotel now two times, Intercontinental Dusseldorf is a great Ambassador for the IHG brand. My wife and I have already booked to come back.
The ‘I’ is always a nice place to stay. A lot of attention to details, great beds, duvets and bathrooms. No disparity in Düsseldorf; super hotel. But; the breakfast was a disaster. Due to Corona Virus we could only order from the menu which looked great. What ended up on our tables were quite different. The bread was pre-cut and several hours old and air dried. The cut meat was so thin and tasteless that you thought you had not put it on the bread. French Toast also taste less, the scrambled egg an omelette and Bircher Muesli just simply not nice. Next door there was a very noisy bar (Tony’s) and yet ‘I’ had decided not to open their bar. Great shame and obviously no reason for not opening when others can. The staff was very service minded, smiled a lot and a great help.
We stayed at the Intercontinental for 3 nights (we had only planned for 2) and out experience was fantastic! The staff is unbelievable friendly and go always the extra mile to satisfy your needs. Rooms have enough space and the bathroom was super clean which is at all times a big plus. Only detail I would change are the pillows but we all know that’s pretty much a very personal situation. The day we arrived we had to dinner in the bar, we thought it would have to be some snacks but surprisingly they were able to serve us warm full dishes matching the good cocktails they have. Check in and check out process was super quick and smooth. I would highly recommend this hotel when you go to Düsseldorf by its location, installations and overall the great service.
I had 25 people traveling in from all over the world for to participate in the Allegheny Technologies Incorporated Leadership Development Program for managers. I had several options available to choose from between Dusseldorf and Cologne and I'm thankful I chose the InterContinental Hotel in Dusseldorf. I worked with Miriam Roettger in the sales department for two months leading up to the event and she was so helpful. Working via email when there is a 7 hr. time difference, cultural differences and language challenges can be a bit overwhelming; however, Miriam made this seamless. I arrived ahead of my group and check in was very quick and extremely friendly. The rest of my group whom were flying in from all over Europe had their flights canceled due to bad weather. I worked with the hotel to ensure this delay wouldn't impact our participants when they were in deed to arrive. Management was wonderful to work and assured me our participants would have a room upon their arrival. Both Mohammed Bouskri and Thomas Krieger from the Concierge desk were outstanding to work with and very attentive to our needs. They helped arranged transportation from the airport for our participants, recommended restaurants and helped make reservations. I wouldn't have been able to provide such a world class experience for our leaders without the help of Miriam, Mohammed or Thomas. I'd be remiss if i didn't mention the front desk service, everyone was so nice, kind and helpful. A very wonderful experience from day 1.…
