I arrived late at night and was checked in by a guy who spoke almost perfect English within a couple of minutes. I went up to my room on the 3rd floor, and settled in quickly. The room was not too large, but was clean, had ( almost) everything that I needed. Comfy double bed, small-ish TV ( with virtually...

I enjoyed my stay. They kindly upgraded me to a quiet and modern top floor maisonette with a roof top balcony. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to the disabled or people with babies as despite the elevator you still need to use some stairs. It's only 5 minutes walk to Rudolphplatz tram station....

We stayed as a family of 4 - 2 parents with 2 sons aged 20 and 17. The parents had a large room with large bathroom (#41) on the fourth floor overlooking Jülicher Street. This street is busy in the morning - lots of delivery trucks, people talking, crashing and banging. After the first night, we got used to it,...

Several times a year we visit Cologne for a weekend trip. The city is great for shopping and there are plenty good restaurants. In general people are friendly and the service is polite and good. First time in hotel Chelsea. 3 nights.. 250 euro... Excl breakfast. Good price, bit what to expect.. Well.. Room was small... But that was maybe...

I always look for these kinds of smaller hotels in Europe instead of the big chains. Was not disappointed. Got a room on the 5th floor (52). That meant a walk up one floor as the (small!) elevator only goes up to the 4th. Not a problem. The rooms on the 4th floor have a main floor with a living...

I had a 4 star expectation for some reason. I think it was the cool website that mislead me..Well its not a bad place but like all know when expectations are set its difficult not to be dissapointed. The hotel has obviously gone through some renevations. The bathroom was spotless clean, nice and looked new and fresh...but the total packet...

Located almost in old town, nice staff, plenty of parking lot around. Fair walking distance to tram stop, close to lots of eatings, attractions, supermarket. The restaurant on the ground also fine. The room was well-decorated, cozy and convenient.

Enjoyed my stay there, close to subway station, not to far from city center, quite and clean. I had room 201, very pleasant. service was kind and helpful. a bit of a parking problem if you have your car with you. no breakfast, no kitchen. however they do have a small bar/ restaurant downstairs, good for a business meeting or...

The Chelsea hotel is very close to the Rudolfplatz where you can take the lines 12 and 15 of the subway. Around there are many restaurants, cafes and so on where locals are used to eating, brunching, chilling, etc. Despite I had a problem with the air conditioning, the staff did their best to find a solution. I strongly suggest...

Me and my partner stayed there for the weekend. We specify on our booking that we wanted a room with a big bed, but we end up having a double bed room, impossible to connect and that could not be smaller. After we complained to the person in charge (who was extremely helpful and nice) we got an upgrade of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Chelsea hotel calls itself "the hotel different". What's so different about the Chelsea? Is there something special which other hotels don't have? The Chelsea is not a "design hotel", even less a "boutique hotel". Design hotels are by definition "designed" (by now we have eben got "budget design hotels"), the Chelsea has grown by itself; it is authentic. The Chelsea hotel is often called an artist hotel or an art hotel. But first of all it is a house for guests, where everybody is welcome and where anybody feels comfortable who knows to esteem a taste for the individual. Nevertheless, it is true, that the Chelsea for more than 30 years by now has been the residence, indeed "home away from home" for many artists and still is. ... more   less
