Friendly staff at the reception was a pleasure to deal with. However, the noise from the corridor caused by hotel staff was really annoying and disturbed my rest several times. There is absolutely no food available from the hotel, no mini-bar, and only two capsules for the coffee machine. Since other hotels have a solution for the current covuid-measures, this hotel is happy to simply shut down it's service. The room itself is tiny, without a place to put your suitcase anywhere. It has no isolation against noise whatsoever; through the door you hear every step outside on the corridor, and the windows don't keep the nose from traffic outside.

Dear David K., Thank you for taking the time to share your experience regarding your stay at the Steigenberger Hotel Köln with us. It is nice to know that you were completely satisfied with the performance and hospitality of our reception staff. We train our staff on a regular basis to ensure that your stay is completely in line with your expectations. However, I am very sorry that you had to face inconveniences during your stay. First of all, I would like to apologize for the noise that disturbed your night's rest. I would like to assure you, that this does not correspond to our usual quality standards. Therefore, I ensure you, this will be discussed in our next team meeting. Furthermore, I have noted that you were missing the items from the minibar in your room. Please do not hesitate to contact our staff on site at the reception, if you are in need of anything. They will gladly take care of your request. In terms of dining options, our staff will also be happy to make a recommendation and assist you with your order as needed. In addition, I would like to inform you that we offer more spacious room categories for an additional charge. You are welcome to discuss this with our reservations department during your next booking or ask at the reception desk on site. However, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that each room is equipped with a dressing area with integrated suitcase storage. I would be very happy for a second chance to convince you of our usual quality of service. Until then I remain with Best regards, Richard Engelmayer - General Manager

In this Corona times when traveling became hard for everyone, the communication with Steigenberger was amazing, in the booking process and during my Journey at Steigenberger. The room was simply "ASTONISHING" , located on the 10th floor I had a great view where I was able to enjoyed an amazing sunset, comfortable and extremely clean. Everyone was incredibly friendly and super professional. Breakfast was great with an amazing selection of food and beverage, omelette cooked on the spot. I will definitely be back at Steigenberger. Thanks everyone in Steigenberger that made my trip to Köln unforgettable .

Oh yes, the room is excellent as is the location. However - one thing was so unsteinberger that it spoiled some joy. We came in an hour early. No “stau” which is unique in Germany. Any Steinberger, Hyatt, Okura, Marriott or even Holiday Inn, Mercury or Novotel would not make a problem and give us the room. Souplesse, right? (The first day of your stay is anyhow shorter since check out time is early in the morning). Not this Steinberger. We did not get the room at 14.00h. We could pay €25 for an early check in (the room was already available!!) - that was the alternative given. We were stunned.

We have stayed in this hotel under a previous ownership, we thought it was good then and in the new dispensation it is even better. The staff are superb, welcoming, attentive and eager to assist. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The restaurant is good although we mainly ate out. Centre of town is an easy walk. Ideal location for visiting Christmas Markets

Given the current pandemic you would have thought a hotel chain like Steigenberger would be understanding and look after customers. This is not the case, showing no flexibility when your dates of travel are impacted and refusing a goodwill gesture to move the dates. I will not be recommending anybody stay here ever in the future as they clearly only focus on profit and not looking after customers.

Dear Jonathan, Thank you for your review. I take your commentary very seriously and regret the payment, which could not be refunded. The safer solution would always be to book a flexible rate. With these rates your reservations can be cancelled up until the day of arrival. I sympathize with your anger and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. I hope to welcome you back soon to the wonderful city of Cologne and impress you with our usual quality of service! Kind regards, Richard Engelmayer - General Manager
