As the Mercure hotel I booked at was closed (without any prior notification!!!), we were moved here and I was actually relieved as the Movenpick is a different ballgame than the Mercure. The staff both at check-in and check-out was GREAT. I can't say it enough. The hotel is in an old water tower which makes it an interesting landmark. There is parking inside and outside. I would stay here again and again. Congratulations to the staff for doing such a remarkable job. Vielen Dank!
the movenpick unleashed all the 5 senses, in which I had been deprived of my whole early childhood. First, the sights. My oh my! The drug dealers reminded me of my hometown; always willing to above and beyond and followed the pride code. After singing our natonal anthem( god save the queen), we declined but i am proud to say they gave their knowledge and power to offer us directions. The wind gave us a well needed blowout restoring volume thats proberly defficient to a lack of omega 3. Next, the underwater atmosphere created by the sounds off bubbles transported me to a deep see cove located in the west of devon. The rooms were kind to our tootsies, for we had been on our trotters day and night experiencing hamburgs fruity nightlife to just pottering down to breakfast.
Friendly and helpful staff, also in the restaurant. The room is good but the mattress in the bed is bad. I slept in the middle, on the hill (where the mattress still is normal) between the valleys of where couples have been sleeping. The desk is also good but the chair is terrible, the legs are bent. Big plus for the safe where a 15,6 inch laptop fits in (if you turn it 90 degrees while putting it in). In most hotels the safe is just 1 cm to small for a 15,6 inch laptop. It is quiet and one can get a good night sleep. The bathroom is also good. A radiator to hang and dry the towels would be an additional plus. I will come again
The hotel is very good and the old building is beautiful. Reception staff very helpful. The cons are the housekeeping and the cleanliness of the room. Not at all satisfactory. The area around the hotel also needs to be mentioned: half a dozen drug dealers hang around the station next to the hotel at all hours. Several others creep around in the park when darkness falls. We really would recommend that lone female travelers and families stay at other hotels.
This hotel is something yo experience. It was an old water tower and there is the sound of running water as you enter. The staff were very good and our breakfast was really great. It is so near the u bahn that you are in central Hamburg travelling near the Elbe in minutes. It was so easy to get to the hotel from the airpot Would go there agai iconic buildind
