2022 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
As Hamburgs first and only 5-star design hotel, SIDE is directly located in the heart of the city. Newly renovated in 2018 and built by architect Jan Störmer, designed by Matteo Thun and illuminated by Robert Wilson, space and light have been put perfectly in relation to one another. These are the factors, which essentially shape the heart of the hotel and make the SIDE a sensual location for the urban generation of today. The 168 rooms in different categories are minimalist in style, yet welcoming, comfortable and with a personal touch. Ten "flying" suites on the 10th and 11th floor are all decked out in white. A further highlight of the hotel is the Sky Lounge and the roof top terrace on the 8th floor which offer an impressive view over Hamburg. The [m]eatery bar + restaurant serves dry aged steaks, different self-made burgers and special tartars. Colourblocking is a key theme in the SIDE SPA. This wellness oasis is refreshingly colourful and luxuriously furnished.

Quality design in Hamburg. Excellent sauna area. Beautiful pool even if the water was a little bit cold. Idromassage could be noisy. Some part of bath door were obsolete. The room has some retouch not well done. Double TV in the some suite area cold be challenging with the remote controller.

Large room - nice bathroom - excellent pool in the basement and lovely breakfeast (try the wafles :)) Location is really close to lot of shops and restaurants. Staff was really helpfull during our stay.

Love it, it was like always a pleasure 🎈the warm welcoming staff and the Christmas atmosphere in December is fantastic - I spend one evening in the Meatery and like the time’s before, it was the best quality beff I ever had (and I’m a meat lover) and the best herb based cocktail from the Hotel Bar.

We had booked a suite for four nights, and were very much looking forward staying at SIDE Hotel as the hotel had received very positive feedback from various visitors. Four days before our stay, we received a welcome email, where was stated, the direct access to Drehbahn street is closed due to construction. We called immediately to the hotel to find out what this construction was all about. “You will barely notice it as it is on the beginning of the Drehbahn, and double glazed windows will prevent any possible building noise” was the reply from a friendly hotel (reception) personnel on a Sunday morning. Reality was totally different when I arrived at the hotel last Wednesday. Huge and a very noisy building site fully opposite of the hotel. At check-in, I asked, why we were not informed about the construction as our suite was facing it directly. “We didn’t think it was necessary” was the blunt answer. I was told that we will barely notice the noise in our suite. Totally a lie!!! One can very well hear the noise and see the onstruction workers even at 10th floor. No privacy and no quietness. We would have had to have curtains closed for whole day, no use of the terrace, and wear ear plugs against the noise!! For that “joy” hotel would have charged us nearly 600 Euros a night!! Hotel personnel had lied to us, and were totally dishonest.. part of the five star unforgettable SIDE experience? I had to search for a last minute hotel accommodation and move out. Hotel staff wasn`t apologetic at all, nor interested in finding another solution for us to stay in the hotel. “It is not our fault that there is the building site making noise” was the comment when I handed in the keycards. I felt they were happy to get rid of the complaining trouble makers. Personnel of SIDE Hotel ruined out stay in Hamburg by lying to us. If we had known about the construction site well ahead, we could have found a nicer alternative accommodation to a last minute hotel room in a busy Hamburg. Shame on you SIDE Hotel!!!!…

Everyone is so lovely here nothing was a problem it was truly a dream. Only criticism is the weird light switch in the bathroom but that’s really pushing it and only because I felt like a fool asking how to switch it off
