The 5-star Louis C. Jacob Hotel, a member of the Leading Hotels of The World, is a second home, a lounge in the city and a charming, relaxed place to be in typical Hanseatic style. The hotel is located high above the Elbe, in a fresher and younger look than ever – with timeless elegance, unparalleled cuisine and a wonderful view of large and small ships sailing by. It’s a genuine piece of Hamburg with the most beautiful view over the Elbe river. The excellent service of our 143 members of staff provide guarantees that your stay will be a wonderful expecience and you don’t need to worry about anything. Once arrived the "Jacobiner" will make sure you feel right at home. The little details are what is most important. These thoughtful gestures and our 84 uniquely designed hotel rooms & suites make your stay to a really special and unique experience. It is not without reason that the slogan of the house is as follows: "Whoever was here comes again and again."

This hotel does not deserve a 5 star rating any more. It desperately needs renovation. The paint (especially the exterior) is chipping off or discolored. The once beautiful wood floor is scuffed. The furniture is scratched and dreary looking. They do not have an available valet to help you with your luggage. There are rugs everywhere which are not vacuumed daily. Plus… there is no air conditioning! When you open the windows to try to cool down your room, wasps and mosquitos fly in because there are no window screens. The only positive is the restaurant and the terrace. It is a Real Shame.

Very classy. Very expensive but worth the expense. The hotel did a great job restoring the building. First, the front desk staff are simply amazing. It was our first international trip since covid, so I was nervous and tired. But, the front desk peeps were welcoming and soothing. Thank you for your effusive welcome. The room is cozy especially the bed. The bathroom is fairly large and very clean and comfortable. The resto has a stunning view of the river. I would have stayed there often except that I was avoiding food as I struggle with my weight. Overall, simply awesome!

My recent visit to this hotel reminded me of what quality in the hotel industry used to mean. The location is outside the main city, a stone's throw from the rolling river Elbe and a wonderful promenade, and ideal for winding down before or after a busy day. My room had french doors to a small patio garden where I could enjoy a cup of coffee prepared with the machine in my room. It was tastefully furnished with period furniture, and spacious. I could regulate the curtains for optimal sleeping and the bed was comfortable. The walk-in closet with a long area to support my garment bag or pull out for an oversized suitcase was perfect. I have not luxuriated in an old porcelain tub long enough to lie down in for ages. Toiletries included bath salts! Sanitary provisions included labeling pens and umbrellas as used an unused with spray postst throughout the hotel. The wellness area was top. Only minutiae with reservation glitches, that mixed up my invoice address, or using Eggbeater like substances for omelettes detracted. In theses days of post-covid lags in tourism etc. one must also consider that a business must economize where it can. I was thoroughly satisfied that this organization made prudent choices. I will return.

This is an old world hotel that seems to have many positive reviews here on TripAdvisor. It is a good option if you have the budget and are willing to overlook certain downfalls, many of which are predictable but disappointing nevertheless. Although the property is very old and by virtue of that romantically we ward, the problem is service. It’s often SERVICE in the world of hospitality. Let’s start with fundamentals. The hotel is terribly understaffed. There is one person at the front desk, and you have to look for them. The breakfast staff have zero personality and probably zero training. The staff at the property don’t speak English. We were “upgraded” into a tiny room rather than the suite we booked. We did ask for a water view suite but instead we were given a small room with a nice view for Hamburg view, this was a 25 euro per night upgrade. Figure this out. The city of Hamburg has been cutting trees outside the room we were in since 720 am. Nice. Nothing they could do, the receptionist said. Well... true. They could give a discount on the room I booked for the driver. But, no. There was no sympathy. The service is minimal and cold. Believe me, I tried, and tried being very nice to them. They are robots and just don’t care. Blame everything on COVID. No porters - Covid. Bad service- COVID! They are moving us to the original room, a garden suite. It is taking a long time. They referred to AmEx as Expedia, and calls from AmEx travel as “a colleague calling requesting a water view room for me..” The hotel is stingy and stodgy - hard to work with. Thus far, seems like a nice old old world minimally staffed property catering to locals that need to be in Hamburg but don’t want to be in Hamburg, and have a budget to pay top dollar. Service at breakfast is hollow and dumb with mechanical and very superficial “pleasantries”. I felt that we were at a government unemployment office, and not at a breakfast at a nice property that boasts a Michelin restaurant. It’s a bit like having an outhouse next to a flower shop. Lovely. Overall so far this is frustrating and disappointing experience. Property basically sucks because of service and that what makes it or breaks it in hospitality. I hope the management learns something from my review and the readers adjust their expectations or book a mainstream property. I am surprised at some of the positive reviews. To my chagrin, I relied on them. I should have seem that there are issues from the ridiculously unprofessional and unintuitive website and difficulty in reaching reservations. Yet, curiosity got the best of me. This is a 4 star European property with 2 star service.

Stayed here twice over a week period for work. It’s a bit outdated but very clean. Both of my rooms were spotless. Good for a run along the river, some great bars and restaurants near by. Hotel bar and restaurant could offer more choice. No issues with breakfast

Jacob Hotel in Hamburg, a supposedly “5-star hotel” was the worst hotel I had ever stayed in in terms of customer service. The wifi never worked, whether in the lobby, conference room which was paid for extra, or in the bedroom. The bedroom did not have service either, which made using 4G impossible. Management and staff were extremely unhelpful, and did not care about requests/needs — they act like they are listening, but do not implement instructions or requests. Further, the waiters were extremely slow, and did not take into account any requests —things had to be repeated twice and food taken back to the kitchen. Finally, whether for lunch or for dinner, the bar food was very limited for a “5-star hotel”. Last but not least, staff does not know how to give instructions with respect to room location, nor take the time to guide the guests to their room when a guest is lost. Frankly, aside from the nice views and amazing cleaning ladies in the bedrooms, the hotel was disappointing and underwhelming.

The hotel is located in the exclusive district of Blankenese and combines luxury with first-class service. It is little things like bedtime stories or separate dressing area in the room that make the difference. Breakfast is served with a view of the Elbe, there is everything your heart desires, but some extras like crabs, eggs Benedikt or champagne cost extra (see photo), which seems incomprehensible in view of the room prices. One must absolutely avoid the rooms in the adjoining house, which are located to the heavily frequented Sieberlingstrasse. I was woken up at 6.00 o'clock in the morning by traffic noise. This concerns room numbers 261, 260 and 259 on the 2nd floor and 157 to 161 on the 1st floor. Better book rooms 270-274 or 170-174. There is a wonderful wellness area with sauna, which you should definitely use. The hotel really keeps what it promises, but the traffic noise in the morning is unpleasant. Here, sound insulation windows should be urgently installed.

We enjoyed very much our stay at this charming and cosy hotel in Hamburg being there to visit the Lion’s King at the Stage Theater. It’s the perfect place to relax with extremely friendly staff, a delicious breakfast, a nice bar and - very uncommon in our days - a smoking lounge to enjoy a good cigar accompanied by a good glas of Whisky.

We had and event at this iconic hotel, with some limited use of the kitchen. And I must say the staff where super amazing at all times. And so attentive, mostly Felix that made everything ever so easy and welcoming. With such amazing German hospitality. Plus the chefs where so welcoming and always Ready to lead a helping hand. Most amazing experience indeed.

I have been stay often during my visit in Germany, sometime accompanied my husband for his business trip, sometime it just for having dinner there, but for this time I was so disappointed, this time We were to Hamburg only for couple dinner, which is I know how nice your dinner was, and we have to stay in your hotel, our room was no 151, it was hot weather, to get an fresh air we have to open the window, unfortunately I felt like sleep in side of highway! Terrible!!!!!! I could not sleep so whole night it because of car noice, we spent more than €700 for one night in your hotel and we got that such kind of memory! We told your FD Manager and we don’t get your feedback yet, for sure we will not comeback again, we brought a lot of our business relations to your hotel either dinner or stay, and we will also report about it to them.
