We arrived at about 4pm on a Thursday. The man at check in wasn't very informative and just gave us our key. The room was okay. Clean but very dated. The pillows might as well be nonexistent as they are so uncomfy. The curtains didn't cover the whole window so expect to window awoken by the sun. Then in the dark, the lights in the room were dim so couldn't see too well. We went down to the restaurant as it stated they had one of the website to be told "we don't have a cook". Then we asked for blankets as our room was cold and were told "we have none". Both times the man was rude and walked off with no help for an alternative. The free breakfast was nice. Choice of fruit, bread, cheese, ham, cereals, jams, coffees, teas. When our room was cleaned only half the towels were changed and none of the glasses so all they did was make the bed which we had already done. Also, I cut my foot, quite badly, on broken glass on the bedroom floor which was left over from a previous guest as we had no glass. This might not have been helped but means than thorough cleaning hadn't been done. On checkout the girl didn't ask us anything so didn't bother mentioning it.

This hotel is located in a suburb of Berlin and is within walking distance of the local town wiith many shops, restaurants, etc The hotel is surprisingly large the rooms are based around an indoor rectangular area which has many exotic plants. The rooms are large and provide everything you need but they could do with some modernisation. Breakfast is self service and is reasonable but not great. Their is a very nice traditional looking restaurant offering German food but for some reason the restaurant lacks any atmosphere. Overall this is a nice hotel but does need some modernisation

We chose this hotel because we needed parking and it really is effortless to park next to the hotel. Although it is not centrally located, it has very good connection to the centre, either by bus and underground (U8/U9 Osloer Strasse) or by a tram (M1), which is within 5 min. walking distance and brings you to the very centre of Berlin in 30 min. Although the location is very convenient, I was disappointed by the amenities. Furniture is shabby, carpets totally worn-out and I didn't like the smell which was a mixture of humidity, old carpet and air freshener. Staff was polite and friendly and they serve very good breakfast. It could have been worse, but this hotel really needs some investment.

Simple and effective hotel, few frills but pleasantly furnished, clean and comfortable. There is a large atrium in the middle of the hotel, all the rooms and corridors radiate from it, and it's loaded with greenery (I didn't explore to see if they were plastic) and a small speaker amusingly emits birdsong - even through the night(!). Breakfast is basic but adequate. There are no other social facilities in the hotel that I could see so there's no lounge of any sort downstairs, nowhere to sit and have a coffee, no coffee facilities at all downstairs so if you have an idle few minutes to spend, there's nowhere downstairs to go and no tea/coffee facility in the bedroom - all you get in this hotel is bed and breakfast. There's an Aldi and a Lidl about 15 mins walk towards town if you want provender or bottled water for your room. There is, however, TV in the room with around 40 German channels. Only one English channel, the ubiquitous but absolutely dire Sky News - no BBC World. CNN was listed but didn't work, a blue screen was offered :-( The hotel is slightly remote from nearest U-Bahn station (20 mins walk along unpaved paths) but he number 150 bus (every 20 mins, 3 min journey) goes virtually door to door from hotel to station. If you want to be central for quick access to the city, this is not the hotel for you but if you have the time, it is an excellent base from which to explore Berlin but above all, cheap, so good value for money as living accommodation only.

Hotel faraway from city center, but few steps from hotel is Bus No:150 and then 5 minutes to S-Bahn or 10 min to U-bahn. Room and all other interiors not modern, but many art painting ont walls and the price is advantageous. Free parking on the street without any problems.

The decor in this hotel is a little different - the central atrium is filled with plants and bird sounds. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are ok, but I had quite a bit of road noise and the beds were not comfortable. Breakfast was basic.

Absolutely brilliant for the price we paid. Very comfortable rooms and excellent service from the friendly and helpful staff during our 5 day stay. Meals for breakfast and at the restaurant were super. Would certainly recommend Solitaire for excellent value.
