This hotel is on the edge of a wonderful location in Berlin. That's true. Unfortunately, you have to walk through a TERRIBLE 200m from the S-bahn station to get to it. We witnessed a mugging, walked through a gauntlet of drug dealers and human traffickers, had someone try to grab my purse, and waded through a street fight in front... More

We had all we needed in this hostel. The weather was hot, but they provided a fan. The street was noisy, but the room was the quietist we have had on our trip. The breakfast was ordinary, but optional, so we found great restaurants around the lovely tree lined back streets. No wifi in the rooms, bit space in the... More

Hotel Friedrichshain is located in the heart of east Berlin. A minute walk from bars, restaurants, night clubs, and the S+U trains to the city. The location is FANTASTIC. The staff in the hotel were kind but spoke little English. Most spoke Russian, so that's a plus. Didn't try the hotel breakfast. The rooms were big enough. Lacked sufficient lighting,... More

Location is amazing & the rooms are clean, which is why I gave it 2 stars. My bed collapsed in the middle of the night & half my mattress was on the floor. I was the only one in the room so was able to use the other bed. I plan on being in Berlin again the fall & will... More

This really is a no frills hotel, but still a great location. I stayed in a single room, with a shared bathroom - everything was extremely clean, and bathroom always empty. The staff were friendly. I stayed on a weekend of a football game, so had a room on the top floor; the temperature was really hot, but the gentleman... More

This must be the best hostel I've ever been to. I stayed in a room with private bathroom. Everything was super clean, they cleaned everyday. Also very quiet. Location is fantastic as it is close to the metro and the neighborhood itself is nice. It's closed to Simon Dach strasse where you can find any type of bars etc. On... More

I stayed at Hotel Friedrichshain for one night in April 2016. The reception staff at check-in was not very welcoming (f.e. no smile), but not too bad. The reception staff at nightshift was more friendly. I had a single room (number 47) with shared bathroom. The bathroom was clean and it is one bathroom for two rooms, so that it... More

We arrived at the hotel at 1pm but was not aloud to check in until 2:30 but they did let us put out suitcases in there baggage room. Check in was then fast and we stayed in room 103 which was facing the rear of the building, it was clean enough but we had problems with sewage smells coming from... More

Basic rooms but very clean, could have done with a mirror in the room though,.would stay again as close to train station and easy to get into centre of Berlin. I stayed in this hotel back in August 14. I was in Berlin for the Beer festival and was meeting friends who were staying in other hotels. When I arrived my room wasn't ready so I went to the bar next door for half an hour. When I returned I was told my room was ready and given my key.... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
