This was my first time staying at a One hotel. One hotel is a chain of budget type hotels with a trendy atmosphere and functional hotel rooms. The rooms are small, but well laid out. Staffing seem to be kept to a minimum which means that a front desk agent would also serve you as a bartender! What an odd...

The hotel is easy to find, just behind the Alexanderplatz station (train from the airport). It is very friendly, letting me put my things into my room early and giving me a coffee after my early morning start from the UK. It is within easy walking distance of Museum Island - and close to the Unter den Linden to walk...

The Motel One 'formula' works very well for me. A great room and bathroom, with none of the other frills, makes Motel One perfect for me. The property at Hackescher Markt Berlin is actually closer to Alexanderplatz than Hackescher Markt, which makes it very conveniently located for a number of local tourist attractions, S-Bahn stations and local Berlin walking tours...

Checkin was quick and friendly. Room 413 was as expected, just like any other Motel One. Only negative was the bed which was hard as a rock. Very good location between Hackescher Markt and Alexanderplatz.

Very clean and modern. The hotel was right down the street from the Alexanderplatz station so it was easy to get around the city using the underground and trams. The bed is a little hard for me but everything is so clean and it’s well organized. The shower is large and with plenty of hot water. Even though my room...

This hotel was perfect for our long weekend in Berlin. The location was fantastic being so near to the sights and activity of Alexanderplatz. There is a railway line outside but the trains didn't keep us awake at all. The rooms are on the small side but we were hardly there and they are kept clean and tidy. The only...

The building is brand new and well located close to Alexanderplatz. S Bahn. Restaurants and shopping. Bathroom has large shower. There is a bar in the lobby . A good budget stop. Has an elevator and a small , pleasant courtyard.

This place is like the typical Motel One. It has a fairly small room, but is equipped well and with high standards, Whether it is the bed the TV (luxury German brand LOEWE), the bathroom, etc. For longer stays you might miss the closet and will be left with just a few hangers. Well it is definitely not a hotel...

What you get: A small, clean, modern room with a comfortable bed, TV set, and free wifi. One outlet on each side of the bed. A small, clean, modern bathroom with a hair dryer. Quick and friendly service from the front desk. A "continental breakfast" buffet. All for a cheap price - about $90/night. What you don't get: Anything else....

Organised for us this was a delightful hotel close to (2 minute walk) bus and train underground. Lovely continental breakfast and attentive staff. Nice deck outside. The room was smallish but functional and quiet.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
