Close to public transport, 1 block, nice breakfast, and attentive to our needs. Comfortable, convenient and wifi worked well. Only problem was some current construction with scaffolding obscured the entrance so our arrival at night was a bit difficult. Owners did attempt to label it so we were able to find it, just not obvious at first. Note that this... More

Very nice pension. Rooms are clean and big enough. Otto and rayner were very welcoming. The location is great. 5 min to the u station. Very safe neighborhood. Breakfast includes cheese, sausage, bun, toast, spreads, yogurt, cereal, orange juice and coffee or tea. Good enough to start the day. Pay attention that the rooms are not defined non-smoking and smoking... More

The facility is basic but it is very clean. The owner is courteous and prepares a nice breakfast every morning for the guests. It locates close to the Berlin Zoo. The big shopping street/area is just 5 min walk away (including a KaDeWe shopping mall). One can walk to the Berlin Victory Column in about 15 - 20 min. The... More

If you want to feel relaxed the moment you reach your accommodation in Berlin then I suggest you book an apartment at the Pension Elefant. The beaming grin of our key holder,Bandt (apologies for the spelling) put us at ease in the strange circumstance of the Pension not really having a reception. Or a lobby, or anywhere you would associate... More

We rented a studio a block from the Elefant. The apartment is owned by them and it was a terrific value for two travelers. The apartment had everything we needed, compact, well laid out and quiet. The apartment block is modern and well maintained, safe and near all transit. It's also in the Gay neighborhood with many fine restaurants, bakeries... More

Elefant is in the very centre of Berlin and additionally 3 minutes from the nearest metro station. We were 3 persons and we stayed in one big, beautiful room. The host are just lovely, caring and very professional. They even bake their own bread for you for breakfast! The price was astonishingly low. We had a wondeful stay and will... More

I stayed at the Pension Elefant along with my two daughters last December. Our stay was for 4 nights while we visited the wonderful Christmas Markets. The room itself was very spacious, warm and tastefully decorated. The view from the window was looking out onto the street, and overall it was very quiet both inside as well as outside. The... More

We stayed for a second time in one of the apartments around the corner from the Pension itself. It was warm, clean and charmingly furnished. The location is great for metro transport and shopping and also perfect for anyone who fancies the gay scene in Berlin. The owners are easy to deal with and very helpful and friendly. There is... Stayed here many times and always been well looked after by our hosts...it's reassuring to see the standard of our first trip approximately 9 or 10 years ago has not dropped - great location, excellent value and totally comfortable - looking forward to returning :-)

The reviews gave me high expectations of Pension Elefant and I wasn't disappointed. I booked our stay as part of a four night break for my husband and I with our two year old daughter. The Pension itself is very well located and a little piece of Berlin history. One of few buildings in the area not to be destroyed... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighborhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the center of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the center of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
