Okay, let's start by admitting that we chose the Pension Peters because of Rick Steves. Indeed, the two mornings we had breakfast there everyone was American and everyone had Rick Steves guidebook. So how did Rick do? The staff member shouted "Thank you Rick Steves!" The ups: 1. This was far and away the most friendly place we stayed aside... More

This pension is centrally located in Savignyplatz, near transportation and great shops, sites, and restaurants. The rooms are very clean, artfully decorated, and comfortable, and the breakfast has a good selection including the best yogurt I've had. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. They give a warm welcome and continue to offer advice and friendly tips for restaurants and sightseeing... More

Maybe not in the "hip and trendy" neighbourhood, but still well located near Savignyplatz, a square packed with restaurants. Local transport is right around the corner which brings you to any part of the city in no time. My room was simple, clean and a good size (you are after all only there for sleeping). The owners make you feel... More

Booked my room with recommendation from Rick Steves. Arriving at Tegel airport four hours late left me tired and disappointed that I wasted four hours of sightseeing. Then my ATM card was refused from the machine. Found another machine with the same result. Decided to go to the pension. Arriving at Pension Peters, Uwe welcomed me and became very concerned... Excellent location not far from Ku'dam, clean, friendly and helpful hosts, spartan room up long flight of stairs (not good for handicapped guest), superb continental breakfasts, more like a fancy youth hostel in appearance rather than a hotel; no hotel luxuries here, but a great place for young and/or adventurous souls.

We made our decision reading the Rick Steeves recommendation and it was the right choice. You cant find them in popular booking portals and this is probably why you can meet there nice and interesting people and not the usual mob. The place is not fancy but rooms are huge, beds comfortable and they have real modern paintings on the... More

Great location and value. I stayed in Room 111. Large room with full bathroom and comfortable bed. Price per nite was 78 Euro. Quick walk to Zoo Station. Small TV in room--2 TV stations in english (BBC and CNN-Intl). Breakfast is "European Continental." Breads, cheeses, cucumber slices, jams/butter/honey, yogurt/granola, tea, and coffee. Nothing hot except for the tea and coffee... More

This was my third stay at Pension Peters. Each time, it’s wonderful to see familiar faces. The Steiners are always cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable, as is their staff. The rooms are clean, reading lights at the bed, plentiful breakfast, and recommendations for restaurants and transportation. I don’t travel with my computer but the computer in the breakfast room is outstanding. We... More

Pension Peters owner and staff are very friendly and helpful in planning activities in Berlin. They offer a great breakfast room. The location is good (not great) and the room we had was average. The bathroom was very nice, but the main room seemed like it needed some renovations... One caution for drivers - they advertise parking "opposite the pension"... More

I stayed at Pension Peters for 4 nights in mid October and it was a wonderful experience. I can reiterate what other reviewers have said...it is not a luxury hotel. The rooms are very simple. They do not have 24 hour staff so, if you arrive at night, you have to pick up your keys at the bar next door.... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
