Stayed here for 6 days with a group of friends. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. They make a nice cheap breakfast. Room was OK, but apparantly I was sleeping with bedbugs because I'm covered in bites! Only found out when I just got back. Immediatly phoned Schalfmeile and they offered me my money back but didn't sound surprised that... More

We stayed at this hostel whilst on our interrailing trip around Europe and this seemed the most affordable hostel in Berlin. The location was pretty central and was only a short S-Bahn ride to anywhere we wanted. The staff were lovely and helpful and accommodated to our needs. The cafe linked with the hostel was cosy and served good food!... More

It's a 5-10 minute walk from the stations, the receptionist was super friendly, and the room was cosy and nice! The little downside was there was no internet in the rooms, and we had to go to the kitchen (which was closed at midnight) for internet. Would come again! :)

We booked the 3 bed private room for 3 nights in august. Check-in is at the little bar on the corner of the street and we were shown to our room. It was tucked away and away from the main street. The room was a nice size and the shower room was a wet room. Great shower pressure! So great... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. Check in is at the bar on the corner and the rooms are up the side of the street. When I arrived, I was taken to the room but it wasn't quite clear which bed was free. 20 mins later the matter was resolved and I fortunately had been allocated a single bed rather than... More

I had a great time staying here. Food in the cafe was great but there is always a common kitchen to use when you want to fix yourself something. Staff was very friendly and gave me some tips how to move around. Close to U-Bahn station and tram stops. Room was alright; maybe not perfectly clean but it's understandable and... More

I spent 2 nights in this hostel with 5 my friends. We had a nice room without bathroom but bathroom was very close to our room. Bathroom was clean, room was ok and we enjoyed our stay very much. It's about 30 minutes by s bahn from Berlin ZOB and 15 minutes walk from Warschauer Strasse.

Loved staying here. Didn't use the kitchen provided, as the food in the attached cafe was wonderful. The staff were incredibly friendly. Would definitely recommend staying here. Very clean hostel, great location for access to the public transport. Plenty of shops in the area with a number of small parks nearby. Shower and bathroom facility was sufficient, cleaned daily, not... More

Located in a boring neighbourhood, quite a distance from anything, but has a metro and tram close by. The staff is quite rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. We discovered that they don't have any idea who is moving out from and in to the rooms, and that means that the sheets/linens rarely are changed. We asked the staff about it, and... More

Staff at the hostel were quite rude and not the friendliest. Our beds were uncomfortable as the mattresses and beds were sagging, and the offer of free wifi is not available in the rooms, only in the cafe which acts as a reception. However, the location was relatively central and the rooms were clean and spacious with an ensuite bathroom.

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
