Arrived very very late, the hotel Was closed. After starting to Get worried, a guy came running down the street. If you are arriving after 6pm make sure you put an estimated time in an email. We were in the rooms outside in the garden . The room was very nice, clean, quiet, and very well presented. The only thing... More

Beautiful, huge room on the third floor facing the garden. The location for Berlin sightseeing is great. Easy to get to trains and subway. Plenty of dining is a 10-15 min walk (if you do not want to use public transportation). Very close to the main Berlin train station (Hauptbahnhof). The stairs to the upper level rooms are steep and... More

This old hotel is beautifully restored with a lovely garden. It is well-located near public transportation, as well as many shops and restaurants. The breakfast, though not included, is very good. There is not a lift, so there are plenty of stairs. Our room was large and very comfortable.

Staff were very friendly and hotel was very clean. Garden was very pretty; we took advantage of the complementary coffee and available beverages and had a few nice afternoons relaxing among the flowers and plants. A great value for its great location too.

Really impressed with this hotel. We had a room on the 3rd floor, facing the garden. It was huge, with 3 separate areas - kitchen (with basic cooking facilities), a lounge area, and bedroom. The bathroom was spacious as well, with lots of hot water. The room was very very quiet at night, and we slept well on very comfortable... More

Stayed four nights in the top floor apartment in the back, which was very quiet with a view to the wonderful little garden in the hotel backyard. There was no lift and the stairs were steep and narrow. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast rich and varied. Location was just perfect for visiting central Berlin, and also just a... More

We took three rooms for three nights. Our rooms were in the garden which is a delightful spot - even in very cold weather. The rooms were good but a few comments: 1. There is a roof light in these ground floor rooms and these could not be covered so in summer sun would stream in. Lovely if you like... More

Beautiful early 20th century hotel in a great location. The garden is beautiful and the breakfast is completely worth it. The service however, was horrible. I asked for a room on a low floor, preferably in the back since it heard there was no elevator and street noise was tough. They gave me a room on the top floor over... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
