What an amazing stay! The hotel itself was clearly 5 star. The rooftop bar was spectacular and a highlight of our stay. Our room was very nice and spacious. The breakfast buffet and other food offerings at the property were great as well. The staff was eager to please in every way. Great location right in the heart of Mitte (center city). So many major sites were a short walk away. Hotel de Rome is the place to stay if you are in Berlin. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Loved everything about it! 5⭐️’s!
We booked a night for our wedding anniversary. We chose Hotel de Rome for its famed rooftop terrace, apparently one of the best views over Berlin. However, after check in we were told that the terrace was closed for a private event. Very disappointing. Plan B was the elegant cocktail bar. That was great until a downpour forced the guests from the terrace into the small bar, some of them drunkenly squeezing themselves, uninvited, around our table. For a while it was tolerable, just loud and boisterous, but when the DJ from their party also set up in the bar, it became unbearable. Our evening was over, the bar staff were overwhelmed and we had to retreat to hotel reception to sign our bill. I realise there was an element of bad luck with the timing of our stay, but this was bad planning by the hotel. With bad weather forecast, where would they expect 200 people at an open air party to go when it starts to rain? The cocktail bar could not accommodate that many people. In addition, their leftover food was left on trollies in the corridor outside our room, creating an unpleasant, lingering smell. The hotel was apologetic. They offered to serve us drinks in our room and an invitation to come back another time for complimentary drinks on the terrace. Unfortunately that won't stop us remembering our anniversary evening for the wrong reasons or leaving us with a very bad impression of the hotel. I don't really feel like going back there.…
Once again Rocco Forte has exceeded my expectations. This unassuming property in central Berlin boasts large and sumptuous rooms, a very quiet location a short walk from Museum Island and a magnificent breakfast buffet. As an AMEX Platinum member I was offered a full breakfast, an upgraded room and 85 euros credit, which I used toward a delicious Italian meal at the hotel's charming La Banca restaurant. The staff are exceptional, so well trained, special thanks to the amazing Kristof at breakfast and Timofy at dinner. The small gym is excellent and competently staffed, the roof top bar is enjoyable, though it would be nice if it were open to guests for morning coffee when the the weather is nice. Wonderful experience.
Everything about this hotel is very comfy, very distinguished, very cozy. Nothing to complain about the building, the style, the atmosphere. All is nicely maintained and decorated. Staff are friendly, attentive and helpful - and nicely unpretentious. Definitely a solid choice!
Stayed 3 nights in July 2021. Well located hotel on the Unter den Linden, a short walk from the Brandenburg Gate, Gendarmenmarkt and the Berliner Dom… can’t get much better located that this. The room was huge, the bathroom absolutely stunning, but no coffee making facilities was a bit disappointing for a hotel of this calibre. The rooftop bar has a great view but prices a little steep. Also has a wonderful Italian restaurant on the ground floor with a nice courtyard area. Would I recommend? Yes for sure. Not quite on the level of the Adlon but pretty close.
