I stayed at Rocco Forte Hotel de Rome for one night (October 30, 2016). I booked a standard room, rate was 243 Euro including breakfast. Everything one expects from a luxury hotel was fulfilled. Starting with the doorman service and luggage transfer, a nice check in at reception, guidance to the room (as a member of Grand Luxury Hotels I...

An excellent hotel. I attended a conference and was recommended this hotel in Berlin. I suggested to my good lady we should use the hotel if we are in Berlin as it is good value and provides excellent service.

The Hotel de Rome is a hotel with a really outstanding level of service, luxury and style. It offers anything you'd expect from a 5* hotel in a very central and historical corner of Berlin. And some nice and famous restaurants in walking distance.

nice rooms, very comfy beds, good bathroom, very friendly staff, great location, superb service. prices for eat & drink are just annoyingly high (bottel of water eur 8, g&t eur 19). i'll never get that, wherever i travel. better raise the room rates by 10 eur and make the extras affordable fun. furniture and overall appearance feel a little outdated/...

We stayed as a couple for 4 nights in January 2017. It was my wife's birthday when we visited, so on arrival we were greeted with a cake from the restaurant. This was an excellent start to our stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the facilities were excellent. Couldn't fault it. We ate in the restaurant on...

We had a great stay at the hotel. The location is perfect for exploring Berlin and the hotel staff were great; very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The spa was lovely and relaxing and the swimming pool is in the bank's old jewelry vault.

I was visiting Berlin just for one day for a business meeting and the company took care of handling everything for me. When they told me I'd be in the hotel de Rome I was really excited because of all these beautiful google pictures. As a matter of fact the hotel itself is beautiful but in my opinion the staff...

A superb experience; lovely comfortable hotel but it is the staff who make it really special. All were excellent but I would like to thank the bar staff for being so good when my grandchildren came for meals. They are 5,3 and nearly 2,witha lot of energy but were so well looked after

First off, I love Berlin - lively and fascinating city. The Hotel de Rome is located fairly conveniently depending on what you plan on doing. It is quite near the Gendarmenmarkt, Brandenburg Gate and Museum Island. Even still, it is an easy walk to other cool spots such as Potsdamer Platz and tourist traps like Checkpoint Charlie. The hotel is...

Dear Peter B., Thank you for your comments. Well, being a historic bank building from 1897 indeed the lobby sometimes appears a bit dramatic, but as you have seen in the spa with the old voault, we find it exciting still being able to feature parts of the past century. I am glad, you seem to have benefitted in full...

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim (appointed master builder of the government), which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendour and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Tommaso Ziffer has been assisted by architects Aukett + Heese with Olga Polizzi and her design team at Rocco Forte Hotels. ... more   less
