Like other reviewers, at check in we were asked if we wanted a room to the front or to the back - we chose the back in case the front was noisy, especially given the tram goes by the front of the hotel. Our room looked in to the middle area of the hotel - that could have been made...

Clean and nice sized room, very colourful (bright and cheerful colours), ok size bathroom. The shower is located in the bath and feels a bit small when taking a shower. Bathtrobe and slippers are provided, which is a nice bonus. We had booked a room ithout breakfast. Breakfast will set you back 24 Euro p.p. So we decided to go...

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of May. It was our first visit to Berlin, and we took the advice of Tripadvisor correspondents and treated ourselves to an upgrade to The Level. The hotel is perfectly located for getting round Berlin, right next to Friedrichstrasse station, and most of the sights we wanted to visit were accessible...

We spent a long weekend in Berlin prior to taking a train to Frankfurt. The Melia was a very nice hotel close to the S-bahn which we used quite a bit. Rooms were clean, front desk staff were helpful, and the location was easy enough to get to from the airport and the train station. We used public transportation while...

We visited the Melia Berlin for 3 nights in October 2012 to celebrate our 20 wedding anniversary. The hotel is easy to find and very close to the U-bahn. Our room was a standard double which was a good size, modern furnishings and a very clean white bathroom. We also found a bottle of sparking wine and a card in...

An elegant and quiet hotel with freiendly service. We stayed in a junior suite with with a nice lounge included where we got free drinks and snacks. The hotel was situated within a short walk from most sights, and it was easy to find our way around. Nice breakfast in the morning. All in all a very nice and recommendable...

I stayed here for a weekend for a family wedding. I found the hotel clean and comfortable and the reception staff friendly and helpful. My concern was returning to my hotel room and finding a woman talking on the phone, she said she was cleaning and left immediately, though there was no evidence of a cleaning cart with her. The...

Dear Guest, thank you very much for staying at the Melia Berlin for such an important family event in our city. We very much regret to read that your brother was missing his bag and documents, but concerning your doubts about our housekeeping collaborators we can assure that we do not have any reason for mistrust them as they have...

Stayed for two nights with a group of 12 in 6 rooms. The hotel was very swift at checking us in and were able to get all of our rooms together. Within 10 mins we were all checked in, luggage dropped off and had a beer in the restaurant, good service throughout. The rooms are very comfy, clean with a...

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
