Melia hotel was centrally located in Mitte. The hotel was good compared to just 170 euro for 2 night without breakfast. I asked for a room with a view over the river , which i got. Heard a little from the traffic, but not much. I would recommend a room with a view over the river. The room itself was... More

Just back from a wonderful 4 days in Berlin celebrating my wife's 40th birthday and stayed at the Melia Berlin. The hotel is a few metres away from the main train station and within a few minutes walk to museum Island,Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag building. In fact the location could not be any better as we hardly used the train... More

Stayed as a family group one week ago and found the hotel to provide a great base for our 3 nights and exceeded our expectations. The location is ideal, in easy walking distance to many tourist spots, next to a rail station for easy connection to Schonefeld airport and overlooking the river where there are cruise boats (or for pleasent... This is one of the better hotels I have stayed in, in Berlin. It is situated very well, quite close to Unter dem Linden. The rooms are excellent and I have seldom slept so well in a central hotel in a European capital. Very comfortable beds and quiet rooms with responsive air-condition. Don't miss the breakfast buffé, not the biggest... More

My husband and I stayed in the Melia Berlin for four nights the beginning of October. We have previously stayed in the melia chain of hotels and agin this prompted us to choose this hotel. The hotel is right in the heart of Berlin with tram and underground transport just a few meters from the hotel. We got a direct... More

We actually chose Melia Berlin because of all the positive reviews it receives on TripAdvisor. The location is excellent; near shopping and main attractions. Plus, the nearby S Bahn and U Bahn makes travelling even more convenient. The room is nice: quite specious for a big European city standard. It comes with a lot of amenities you will need. My... My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights early October. Very near Friedrichstrasse station and next to River Spree, 5 mins walk from the Reichstag. Very good location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was fine and exactly the cost of the internet booking - no hidden extras. We paid 548 euros for 4 nights including... More

Stayed at the Melia Berlin for 7nights in early Oct 2011. The location of this hotel is perfect, right in the Mitte area on Friedrichstrasse. The train station is literally a few steps from the hotel with connections all over the city of Berlin and beyond, including a train to Schonefeld Airport. Museum Island is very close to the hotel... I spent about four days in Berlin on business and stayed at the Melia. Overall the place is very clean, fairly stylish, and comfortable. In the evenings it was easy to sneak out and see the sights of the center of the city. The only thing that was not ideal was parking fees - a flat 20euro per day which... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
