reception was very friendly with me, though my colleagues later said they weren't with them. The lobby was very nicely decorated with a huge gingerbread house, really nice. The rooms were good and comfy, quite luxurious with slippers and bathrobes and so on. Wifi connection was good and free. Minibar was available too. Sleeping comfort was good, it was quiet...

Perfect location central Berlin! Decently priced. Excellent breakfast. Nice staff. Mind you, it's a big hotel, if you want cozy. And hotels must stop making Wifi Internet an issue. It's free here, but complicated. Internet should be easy to access! But a very good hotel this is!

This is a high quality hotel with warm and welcoming staff. The rooms are very comfortable and a good size with a large bed and a very clean and well provided bathroom. Breakfast is excellent. Considering the excellence of the hotel it is good value for money

We chose the Melia for our weekend break in Berlin knowing its location was just what we wished for, central to the transport network and the many of the sights. What we didn't realise was the level of comfort and service that we would receive. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is a two minute walk from Friedrichstrasse station;...

Booked a standard and upgraded to an executive room on arrival. Very nice indeed but we didn't get lounge access. Room was fantastic; recently refurbished, clean, well kept and overlooking the Spree. They didn't refill the small biscuit bowl each day which seemed a bit mean! We didn't wait in the restaurant for dinner although room service was reasonably priced...

This hotel was beautifully decorated and perfectly located just steps from the S Bahn where one can get just about anywhere. Although we were primarily here for the Christmas Markets we were able to tour the main sights very easily. Breakfast was fantastic and kept us fueled for the entire day. A chef accommodates eggs and pancakes made to order...

It was our second time in the Melia in Berlin and we enjoyed our stay there because of the quality of the hotel and its location. Since we were leaving very early in the morning they suggested to prepare a lunchbox for us, which they did and we thank them a lot for that.

Never been to Berlin before so had to come here to read the reviews and pick a hotel. I'm so glad we chose this one. To start with, it's so easy to get to - straight of the plane to the station (we normally get a cab to hotels but reviews said it was easy so we took a chance!)...

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
