Just returned last evening from three lovely days spent in Berlin....our first visit. Delighted with our choice of hotel, the bedrooms were clean, well furnished with all the necessary facilities and comforts. The rooms facing the courtyard were very quiet for a hotel right in the middle of the busy centre. Glad we chose to include breakfasts as they were superb,...

I stayed four nights in Berlin in August 2016. Hotel was picked by my friend because she had been in Berlin before. Location was great. It was right next to the Friedrichstasse metro station. Right on front of the hotel was museum that exhibits history of border checkings between east and west as Melia is right at the border. We...

This hotel is in the Mitte area only some meters away from the Freidrichstrasse station. From both airport it is accessible by public transport. A taxi ride from the Tegel airport takes aound 25 minutes and will cost around 21 euros. This hotel is by the river Spree and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants around the hotel. The...

I had a pleasant experience in Melia Hotel Berlin. The hotel is located at walking distance from the Museum Island and very close to the S-Bahn, but still very quiet. My room was comfortable, and service was perfect. I also had a good "tapas" dinner.

The entire hotel facility is modern and most well-kept and ideal start for Berlin sightseeing tour. Located next to the Spree boat trip can be done just by crossing the street. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast for a good start in the morning

Booked the Melia for our recent trip to Berlin. On arrival we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to the level for 50 euros per room per night. For this you got a fabulous breakfast, afternoon tea, soft drinks and tea and coffee between 7am and 10pm. Also between 6pm and 9pm buffet food and between 6pm and 10pm...

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
