Great hotel. Fabulous location short river walk along to museum island and the cathedral. Probably another 20 minutes from there to checkpoint Charlie. Brandenburg Gate is a slightly longer walk. We loved the facilities of The Level in the hotel. Free soft drinks and snacks throughout the day then soup and larger snacks early evening when in addition to beer...

Excellent hotel for a trip to Berlin. Location is its main selling point. Literally a 1 minute walk from the main Friedrichstraße station, where you can get a direct 30 min train from schönefeld airport. This made travelling anywhere ridiculously easy. You can walk down the main Street or over the river to some fantastic restaurants in Mitte too. It's...

We stayed here last weekend for a couple of nights B&B. The standard of room was ok, we were on the 4th floor facing the inner courtyard. Nice and quiet but not much of a view, which was ok tbh. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. The Staff were pleasant and helpful. We got a 30€ voucher so spent...

I have been in this hotel for business The hotel is very well located and rooms are big enough especially if you book one of those at the floor called "the level" The idea is very good (you have a special reception at that floor, a bar for free drinks and food -buffet) but it is supposed to be open...

I recently stayed at the Melia for two nights. During checkin, the staff aggressively pushed the breakfast add-on to us, which we did not want. When we told them we wouldn't be adding on breakfast, they then proceeded to tell us that we would get a double (two double beds pushed together) unless we paid for an upgrade for a...

Location is good, rooms are small but comfortable and modern, shower is a little small and TV is also a little small. Took me a while to find English language channels (a guide would be nice - CNN for example is channel 47).

As usual, Melia did not let us down. The hotel is superbly situated and is close to Friedrichstrasse Station, so the trip in from the airport was very quick, cheap and easy. Our comfortable room overlooked the river Spree, and we were just around the corner from Museum Island. Breakfasts were excellent and very well serviced.

My partner and I had a superb long weekend stay at this hotel. By signing up to the hotel's reward scheme and booking via the website, we were able to get a reduced rate on the room, a room upgrade to a premium standard room on check in (through a birthday voucher) and also a €15 credit per night, so...

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
