I was last in Berlin prior to the pandemic and stayed at this hotel when it was still the Sofitel. I enjoyed that stay immensely and despite the change in brand to Dorint, I chose to stay here again. The comfort, quality of service, and proximity to various sites in the city were my motivators. Remarkably little has changed from what I could see in the change from Sofitel to Dorint. Furnishings, decor, artwork on the walls, etc. All the same. There is some noticeable wear and tear, scuffed furniture, dings and scratches in various areas, which is normal for any property with extended use. Had I not stayed at the property a few years ago and experienced it, I may not have even noticed the areas that need improvement or some touching up. None of this detracted from my stay, it was just noticeable as it was not there previously I booked a superior room with breakfast. The room was quite large and comfortable. As with my previous day, the king size bed was good. The bathroom was also large, with walk-in shower. There was some hit and miss quality to the room service. They were there everyday, and I intermittently received a small bottle of water. It was there on my first day and they replenished it on my third day, but no other days during my visit did I receive water in the room. There was a fitted sheet and regular sheet on the bed during the first and second day, along with a comforter. For some reason the sheet on the bed disappeared on day three, never to return. The fitted sheet was still there, as was the comforter. I'm not sure why the sheet was removed and not replaced. I did not bring it to anyone's attention, the room was extremely warm regardless of the setting of the thermostat. The room also came with a coffee maker with capsules of coffee, which I used on a few occasions. I enjoyed this very much. The buffet breakfast that came with the room was excellent. The selection and quality of food was top-notch, as was the service in the dining room. Fruits, yogurts, cereals, breads, omelets made to order, meats, cheeses, juices, coffees, etc. My only disappointment in the buffet was that I did not take advantage of it everyday. My compliments to the team managing and working in that restaurant. Again, top-notch! The hotel location, as I mentioned earlier, was ideal for me. Berlin is a marvelous city for public transport, as are so many cities in Europe, so access to various train lines, subways, buses, bars and restaurants, etc. For me, it could not have been more convenient. Every employee I encountered at the hotel was friendly and helpful. I loathe the fact that I am not fluent in German, so I had to depend on their English speaking abilities more than I'd like to admit. They were all excellent. There are many, many choices of hotels in Berlin. Yes, not a surprise there. There is something for every taste and budget. I look forward to returning to Berlin again, and I would give the Dorint another try. The few areas that I mentioned that need some work were minor. The overall comfort of the hotel, combined with its location, made it a good choice. …
