Neighborhood
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.

The place is nice but could be better with they take care. There is a lot of group of young guys and they made a mess There is no locker in the room to put big suitcase like 32kg. If you want to leave your bag safe you need to pay for a locker. If you want a place only to sleep,

Do not stay here. My daughter and her 3 friends all had their locked up laptops stolen! Police told them there were 4 cases of theft reported already this week. Sounds like an inside job, but no arrest yet. Stay away!

The parking issue. We asked the guy on reception if we could park our car by the bins. He said yes. Only to find when we woke up our car had been towed away. And after spending an hour at the police station trying to find it, we were told it was the local shop that had had it

Dear JistGem1990, thank you for your feedback! I'm so sorry to hear that your car was towed! At this point I can only apologise for the misunderstanding, you can actually park next to the bins as long as it's not blocking the delivery entrance which is signposted. As you correctly mentioned, this entrance belongs to the shops next door. I will make sure I pass this information on to the team once again so that this is more clear to our guests in the future. We hope you still managed to enjoy your time in the city - Amy, Reception

Its a nice hostel with clean bed and bathrooms, the location is right next to a S-Bahn and Tram-station. Its a huge building so not very personal but thats okay. The only thing I didn't like were the showers. But the hostel is totally fine for a few nights!!

Don't think I am avoiding an answer. If you find Generator through Hostel World. I think all of your questions will be answered. All of the available room alternatives are listed and there is information about public transport. Make sure to make a reservation before you arrive. There are several other alternatives but I recommend Generator Berlin Prenzlauer Berg. Have a nice stay !

Yes, it's near Alexander Platz, which is very central. You take the tram and you will be there in ten minutes. Now, about the prices for a night you need to check on the Internet because prices changes depending on the date you are booking. And it's about 30 min from Tegel to the hostel.

Does the hostel accept under 18’s with parental approval?
Does this hostel welcome family with young children?
I'm not sure I would recommend taking children here. There is a bar in the hostel and it can get quite loud and noisy. Definitely more of a party atmosphere.

No, but you can pay and get one from the reception. Best to carry a quick dry ( to avoid hostel/ hotel bacteria).
