Stayed for 3 nights in this hotel in September 2020. Prior to this hotel I stayed in other Mercure hotels during the Covid-19 period and surpisingly all of these Mercure hotels have different standards. Check-in was fast and it was very kind that the room was available ample before the 3PM official check-in time. I was told that cleaning was not possible during the stay (due to Corona), however in the room was a card which mentioned that it is possible at request only. The room itself is nicely decorated but in terms of amenities defenitely not at 4 star level. The duvets (single duvets for a double bed) are on the small side, towels could be bigger and even no cups in the bathroom. No coffee and tea making facilities either due to Corona. I did not see an ironer and iron board. Bathroom is a bit outdated with small white tiles but okay. Shower gel/shampoo in a wall mounted flacon instead of the tiny tubes I saw in other Mercure hotels. Breakfast is good. It is still a buffet and you have to wear gloves (will be distributed) and a facemask when collecting your items. Obviously there are not as many items as in pre-Covid times. You can still order fried eggs, omelette (but no pancakes) and I got even a fruit plate but this was not mentioned to me. You have to figure it out by yourself. The staff are friendly but could be a little bit more proactive. What I generally do not like is that the decreased level of service/amenities (comparing to other Mercure hotels I stayed) are blamed on Corona but I have the impression that these are cost saving measures, because harldy any alternatives were given. A great example I encountered in another hotel is that because it had removed the coffee machine from the room, it had installed an expresso machine at the entrance of the hotels which you could use for free of course. So my recommendation for the hotel: use a bit more creativity and offer alternatives for the services which are not possible due to Corona. Location of the hotel is good: next to U Bahn stop Naturkundemuseum and there is also a tram stop in front of the hotel.…
I have stayed here many times before, as it is brilliantly located for the main station, the TXL bus from Tegel Airport, and many of the important sites in central Berlin. The hotel and all of the staff are charming. It is in a quiet part of the city centre, so if you want quiet you can get that; but if you want hustle and bustle that is only a short distance away. Anyone who is worried about travel due to Covid-19 I felt absolutely safe at all times while in Berlin and while staying here.
The check in process was smooth and the man who checked us in was lovely and gave us some great recommendations for the area. The location was excellent with lots of restaurants and cafes within walking distance and the station provided easy connectivity. Our hotel room was spacious, clean and a delight to be in. It was surprisingly the first hotel we stayed at in Europe that provided a tissue box! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was good. We were unable to attend the buffet breakfast on the first day due to it being fully booked however the next day we did and it was delicious with lots of variety. Would definitely stay again.
The hotel seems to go for a youthful and funky vibe rather than elegant and sophisticated ambiance, and it’s a matter of taste whether you find that refreshing and fun or downmarket and brash. I felt that it was a bit below what I would expect from a 4-star lodging though it certainly had some positives. The public areas and rooms were clean and bright and staff were very friendly. The location is quite good, a 15-minute walk (or 5-minute tram ride) from Hauptbahnhof (central station) or Friedrichsstrasse station, 2 minutes to a subway line, and with a tram stop right outside the front door. Given that there’s a busy road outside the hotel, we booked a room facing the inner courtyard, which didn’t have much of a view but was very quiet. We had upgraded to a privilege room with a king size bed (which didn’t quite seem king size), but the room still felt small and would be a squeeze for two people with two large suitcases. Everything seemed new and in good shape, and the same was true for the bathroom. Wifi varied between extremely weak and okay, and the bed was comfortable but transferred movement a bit too much. Housekeeping was not always spot on, with an empty shower gel tube not getting removed. A notable positive were the elevators where we never had to wait more than a few seconds even though the hotel was probably heavily booked for New Year’s Eve. We didn’t book breakfast but had breakfast on two mornings, and the spread and quality was adequate for the 15 Euro price. There were hot and cold food options, a waffle iron, decent coffee, and eggs could be ordered from the kitchen. Prices were high over the new year period, and we averaged 140 Euro per night, but that’s the case for most hotels during that time. Overall, not a bad hotel but not particularly memorable.…
Very good hotel, we stayed for 4 nights. The reception staff were very helpful and check in was easy. We had booked a room with a garden view which we didnt get but it really didnt matter, we werent actually in the room much. The room was plenty big enough and a nice bathroom. 1 down side was that we had 2 single beds pushed together rather than a double bed. Also had 2 single duvets instead of a double. We didnt bother with breakfast, we felt that €20 per person per day was a bit steep. There is a supermarket 2 minutes walk away so we just bought breakfast from there each morning The hotel is in a good location, 10 minutes walk from the Bradenburg Gates and Reichstag Building and plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel The hotel was good value and i would recommend if you dont mind a slight walk to get to the 'city centre'…
